The place is a bit bland, but overall theres a variety of selections and it has been an upcoming shop once again for the past couple years. Ive had pretty good experiences since this incident and many policies have changed for the better, but I had to put this out there for those who normally ask pet store employees for animal caretaking advice. Quite a few years back before the "no reptile return/exchange" policy, i was rlly young and a new pet enthusiast (honestly shouldnt have been given the freedom i did) . but, my aunt had brought me in to look around and get a couple new lizards, as thats what i wanted. the gentleman i asked for some setup guidance had failed to point me in the right direction of food for my new beardie. he ended up claming a dry food/bug pellet mix was best. so, my aunt and i being uneducated at the time, bought the pellets with some dried bugs and called it a day i didnt see the beardie even go near that food. he started getting extremely lethargic after only three days so i brought him in and asked what was wrong. to my surprise, the same gentleman that had told me what food to buy, told me it was the wrong food and he was starving bc he needed live meals. I was furious and decided to give them back the reptile in hopes they could help him eat and get better. ever since, i have not gotten a reptile due to my minimal knowledge. they seem to all be well taken care of now in 2025. but other than that this place has a various selection and many nice workers; and to add, that gentleman is not there anymore. so, if you want a pet, make sure you do your research before going into a pet store and just purchasing. unfortunately even people that work there might not be educated enough to help your animal thrive; thats your responsibility, and i had to learn the hard way!! read more

Most ridiculous experience just trying to buy fish for my daughter. tried to buy a few simple, low maintenance tropical fish. got one of the employees to bag up a cute loach and a few tetras. you know, simple, easy to maintain fish. she says "the heater has to be in for 24 hours" and walks away. being an adult with an IQ above like, 90, i planned on temping and PH balancing the water BEFORE putting the heater in, and guess what????????? it would stay at temp from that point on. went to try again, she just says "has to be in water 24 hours till temp is good", gives me this rude snarky side eye, walks away so we just left. never coming back to this place. what a stupid employee. they got a nice selection tho. read more

Shame there isn't a zero or a minus number! BEWARE!!! I bought 2 dozen feeder goldfish today. Not paying attention to them, we put them in our tank, then I discovered they were covered with fungus!!! They ALL just went don the toilet....MONEY WASTED! They willingly and blatantly sold them to us, knowing that they were diseased! DISGRACEFUL! read more

Bought a baby mini lop rabbit from here for $40. Three days after having it, it got so sick that I had to drive an hour and a half down to Akron to an emergency vet at 10pm just for them to tell me that he had pneumonia, a respiratory infection, and is highly contagious. Ended up having to put him down after having him for only three days, and costing me a $179.00 vet bill, that Edgewood Pet Center refused to reimburse. DONT BUY ANIMALS FROM HERE! read more

Edgewood Pets is currently going through another renovation. This is at least the 4th total reorganization of the store that I can remember in the last decade or so. At least it looks like a positive change for the moment. They are adding more salt water fish which they haven't carried for years and rearranging everything else. On a positive note, they seem to have stopped selling American Alligators which are now illegal to sell in the state of Ohio. I'll definitely keep checking in every time that I'm in Ashtabula. read more

Very nice and very healthy pond fish at great prices....and very nice staff! The home we bought in September 2016 in Madison, has a garden pond, a stream and 2 waterfalls and we have been buying our fish here. We would definitely recommend them! read more

The owners of this store are not nice people. While they may know about animals, they don't know about good customer service. They never have smiled or thanked us for our business and they always end the conversation with something negative to say. read more
