The South Room deck in October. Photo cred: David Braun

We had an absolutely beautiful, incredible wedding at Edgewood on October 21st, 2018. We chose the South Room (a more intimate venue overlooking the lake) in the evening. The location was breathtaking, food was amazing and the staff was great--we didn't have to worry about any logistics throughout the entire event. We didn't have a wedding planner so we relied heavily on Brooke and Lori's help as we planned everything leading up to the big day. The day itself surpassed our expectations, with huge thanks to Brooke! Our friends and family couldn't stop talking about what an amazing time they had, and many mentioned how well Brooke handled the details with setup etc. (I was too busy and excited to notice everything myself.) As others have commented, we also had trouble with communication over the summer of 2018. I think the change in staffing must have been a challenge for them...however, they totally made up for it by the end and really impressed us. Lori helped finalize all the booking and payment related things and Brooke made sure everything ran smoothly despite our last-minute table edits, guest changes and all the other hoops we put her through! Meeting Brooke in person about 1.5 months before the wedding was super useful and I highly recommend everyone do the same--she was extremely organized, professional and just so great to work with. All in all, we had the wedding of our dreams in a fantastic location, and it went more smoothly than we had even hoped for. Edgewood is a special place for a wedding! P.S. Photos taken by our awesome photographer David Braun: https://www.yelp.com/biz/go-west-foto-south-lake-tahoe-4?uid=a-CtXGkmHkaaXSvnOLFxOg&utm_campaign=www_business_share_popup&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=(direct)

We got married at Edgewood last winter. It was an incredible venue, but the wedding manager, Lori, was a nightmare to work with. We initially expressed our interest in securing our wedding date in May 2018 when we toured the venue. We were ready to provide a deposit on the spot that day. However, we were told it wouldn't be possible to receive/sign a formal contract until the following Monday (three days later). That was fine, but it ended up being far from the truth. It took another 4 months of numerous unreturned phone calls/voicemails for us to finally receive our formal contract from Edgewood and team. In the meantime, we lost out on our top vendors such as photographers and videographers who took other wedding clients while Lori held us up and couldn't complete the most basic of paperwork/clerical tasks on an acceptable timeline. Once our contract was finally signed, Lori was no better to work with leading up to the wedding. Thankfully we had our own full service wedding planner or my wife and I would have totally lost our minds dealing with more unreturned phones calls and planning issues. You know someone has a bad reputation when our own wedding planners were not at all surprised by the lack of promptness and poor communication from the venue's wedding department. As a final low blow, Lori and the wedding department failed to alert anyone at all during our wedding that we had vastly exceeded the agreed upon/estimated bar consumption. No Edgewood staff member asked if we wanted to extend the tab or switch to a cash bar. It wasn't like it was just slightly over either, we're talking 70%+ above the original estimate. Overall, Edgewood is still the best wedding venue in Tahoe... for now. But if they continue to treat clients the way we were, their reign atop the Tahoe wedding circuit won't last long. If you plan to get married here, I highly recommend having your own full service planner to minimize the amount of contact you have with their wedding team.

Edgewood is unbeatable. We didn't have to spend a lot for flowers & decorations for our wedding bec the facility itself was already beautifully donned up.the postcardesque surrounding is so breathtaking that adding artificial decorations could make it overwhelming.the staff, (cleaners, valet peeps, servers, chef (LONNY), receptionists, wedding coordinators-LORI/BROOKE/MEL-etc)were very accomodating, understanding,& helpful. We are all impressed by their quality service . And oh, food is the best!my hubby & I have decided to make it a habit to stay at Edgewood whenever we're in town. See you soon!xx

this venue has it all. One stop shop, great food, they can do it all, experienced helpful staff and let's not forget the Lake! it's right on the Lake. As a local wedding photographer, I always enjoy photographing at this location. By adding the superb new lodge! game changer! Don't hesitate to consider this venue, tough to beat!

Can I give 6 stars?? We had our wedding at Edgewood in January 2017. The wedding team is amazing and made my wedding day unforgettable. We did a brunch wedding, since the sun sets so early in the winter and wanted the lake in view the whole time, and the food was amazing! And the scenery can't be beat. If you're considering having your wedding here, stop considering and just do it. You won't regret it. :)

We basically waited 10 minutes to get seated when we walked in. Information about happy hour can be very confusing as their website has different hours than their IG. When we were seated they seated us directly against a wall with very limited table space for four girls. We ordered wine flights (actually a great deal 4 wines for $25) and apps. We all were very hungry as we just got off a plane but they don't really have anything that is meal worthy more or less just small bites. The burrata was so yummy but the toasts were a little hard. Buffalo cauliflower dip was great and I loved the combination because I would've never thought to have a dip with cauliflower, cheese and buffalo sauce! When we ordered the apps we didn't have any table space left and the waiter took quite a while to pick up our prior plates and bring our bill. If you want outdoor seating I would recommend you go early as it fills up very fast and anything over two people will be hard to get in.

It was beautiful out on the water, with the rocking waves, and beautiful scenery and sky. But not when you have my kids driving it like a race car on water. We were rocking like crazy and we all got wet. Especially my grandchildren sitting at the front, who were drenched! I told my kids to slow down, but they say, "he said we could floor it." OMG!! The kids had to put on life jackets and the adults were told there are emergency life jackets on board. Well, with my kids enjoying what the boat can do, I threw on my life jacket! I admit, my kids are very responsible drivers on land. They had so much fun driving the boat in the wide open lake. As scared as I was of possibly being overtaken by waves or capsizing, it was an amazing experience, and it felt so good out there. Absolutely beautiful!! I really enjoyed it, and the staff were great. They know exactly what they're doing. The water started to get kind of choppy, so we ventured back towards the shore after an hour, called them on the radio, and staff came out on a dingy to help dock the boat so that we can safely get out. We went on the 2PM cruise today and had fantastic weather for a lake cruise. They advised us to start lining up around 1:30p, started boarding around 1:45p and were promptly cruising following key safety messages. Key things to note below: -There is available seating toward the front outside, if you appreciate some sun and a cool breeze these may be the seats for you! -Guests moved in and out throughout the cruise, we opted to stay in for most of it but had no issues moving around outside to take photos comfortably. -Snacks and drinks are available for purchase onboard. -They had comfy blankets available inside to take outside to keep warm (very nice touch and they appeared to be very clean) -They did a great job slowing down in Emerald Bay and highlighting wildlife nearby for viewing and photography. -Don't forget to bring cash to tip the well-deserving crew! -We had a cool mix of tourists and locals to chat with on the cruise. -There are padded bench style seats indoor and plastic chairs as well. The upper deck also had seating (no shade up top aside from some in the front) -There are restrooms on board, I didn't use them but they were available. Highly recommend for a relaxing and informative cruise around South Lake Tahoe & Emerald Bay. Will definitely cruise again on our next visit to South Lake Tahoe. We also have a friend who is a photographer and we haven't had professional photos taken since our wedding 18 years ago so we thought The Landing would be the perfect place since they host weddings here and it's right next to the beach. There are so many excellent parts to mention but I will start with the staff. From the moment we walked in, everyone was so friendly and welcoming to us and our dog. Our 15 year old had just passed and so our 12 year old was a little lost and loved all of the attention. She was treated just like one of the family. They even allow dogs on the free shuttle which is so perfect so we were able to go into the village and have lunch with her. It's a downhill walk back and so pretty, so we enjoyed the fresh air back. They upgraded our room and the views of the lake were perfect. It was so easy taking Juno out for potty breaks. It was extremely quiet and clean. The heated floors and toilets are a nice touch. We had dinner one night in the restaurant and it is the best meal I've had in Tahoe. The Venison is unbelievably tender and flavorful. My husband loved his homemade pasta with huge prawns. Our server, Kevin, went above and beyond to make the night special. They even let us take a few pictures in the bar area which I think turned out really cool with all of the bottles and colors in the background. Of course we all come for Tahoe! This place is right on a perfect spot. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets, some trees and grassy areas also made for perfect pictures. We were there right at the start of Memorial Day weekend so it was extremely quiet and peaceful. I'm sure it will get busy in the height of summer but even then being able to walk across the street from your room makes it so convenient. After a long drive to Lake Tahoe our first road trip with our 23-month-old we were exhausted and looking forward to relaxing. The front desk agent, Rachel, made us feel anything but welcome. When we walked up to check in, she didn't greet us or smile. She simply stared at me until I said, "Hi, how are you?" Her response was, "Can I have your ID?" There wasn't even a simple hello. She spoke very quickly, didn't explain any of the additional charges, and just asked for my credit card, saying the total would be $137. I tried to explain that I had prepaid for the room and was told I'd only be paying the $57 resort fee at the property, so I wanted to confirm what the additional charge was. Before I could even finish my sentence, she cut me off and rudely said, "I don't know what you paid for online." While checking out they charge $50 for valet parking and $70 ish for resort fees . So I paid an additional $137 for fees which is insane for one night . At that point, I was too tired to argue, so I just paid. Before I had even finished putting my credit card back in my wallet, she looked right past me and called the next guest forward. There wasn't a line just us and one other person waiting. She didn't tell us where the elevators were, provide any information about the hotel, or even end the interaction with a "Have a nice stay." I had to ask another employee where to go. Lake Tahoe has many hotels, and Margaritaville certainly isn't cheap . So a total of over $400 for one night is not worth the money for this hotel with horrible customer service . For a hospitality business, the customer service at check-in was incredibly disappointing. Families come here to relax and enjoy their vacation, and our very first interaction with the hotel immediately put a damper on our trip. The room was clean but the bed sheets had black dirty stains not sure what it was . The fridge wasn't working either , my toddlers milk ended up going bad . The hotel itself isn't worth the price but the biggest downfall was of how we were treated by Rachel, I wouldn't choose to stay here again.

And the cabin feels like a serene home with all the right touches. We couldn't wait to go back. This year we stayed in the King Suite because the cabins were booked. It was still lovely and cozy but more modern feeling than the cabins. It's more of a hotel feel; wood floors would probably help rather than the carpet. It's different than the Hideout Cabin which is probably my favorite place to stay- not just in Tahoe. The hot tub is great but don't expect powerful jets and unfortunately the jets in the suite tub didn't work. That and the lighting in the suite are my only critiques (it's a bit harsh and the bathroom switches are confusing) Still, we are as happy as can be here. The added diffuser bar was a nice touch and surprise because there was a diffuser in the cabin last time we stayed but it's nice you can pick your favorite scent now. The staff here is also fantastic. Very kind and helpful. I wanted to bring our whole family here for Christmas after our first visit but they opted for a large cabin together. After a second trip, I'm even more sure this is the best place in Tahoe to stay. I'd visit the lake JUST to stay here. Thanks, Black Bear Lodge, see you next time!

I wish we were seated outside, but we still had a view (obstructed) of the lake. Valet parking is the option if you are driving, which was nice. Service: Our server was good. It felt like it took a while to get our food, but not terribly long. She also replaced one of the kid's smoothies when they spilled the entire thing. Food: They serve complimentary breadsticks with sundried tomato hummus to start. I ordered the Caesar salad and added chicken, which I felt had way too much dressing mixed in, but came with lots of chicken (three skewers) and was a good portion size. My husband orders the tenderloin salad and seemed to enjoy it. Kids enjoyed the kids personal pizza and smoothies. Some others got the Halibut and said it was bland.

Whether you want to stay busy or just kick back and watch a game, they've got you covered. There's a fun mini golf course with obstacle-style holes, cornhole, other interactive games, tons of big-screen TVs showing sports, plenty of high-top tables, a long bar, and even outdoor seating. We decided to grab a couple seats at the bar. We were first greeted by Kelly, who was incredibly friendly, had a great smile, and genuinely seemed happy to take care of us. Then Ben took over, and he was awesome. Super personable, easy to joke around with, and the kind of bartender who keeps interacting with guests even when he's busy. The staff alone is a reason we'd come back. Trivia isn't usually my thing, but we decided to join in anyway. It's free, energetic, and a lot of fun. There were probably around 25 teams playing, and Tom did a great job keeping the energy up all night. The questions start out pretty easy to build your confidence, then get progressively tougher. It ended up being a great time and the perfect way to spend our first night in Tahoe.
