I have been coming here for years but since Allina took over, the experience is frustrating. Want your yearly physical exam? Be sure and call at least six months in advance. Are you sick right now? Don't bother calling, no one's available. Did you finally get in but need lab work? They now use Quest Diagnostics. Despite have 3 times the lab staff that they had when they were independent, you will have an unacceptable wait time. Quest will then ask for your insurance information ( which you just gave to the front desk). Two days later you will receive a bill directly from Quest telling you that payment is due NOW despite them not submitting it to your insurance. The doctors and office staff are wonderful but Allina has truly made this a nightmare experience! read more

Dr Patpatia won't refill rx within the time frame. so I switched to another doctor, who told me the morning of the appointment she won't refill it either. Horrible doctors, unprofessional, no empathy. also won't schedule online. stay away from this clinic! read more

I never write reviews, just had to warn people about it this provider. This is how bad this experience was. First off, location is hard to find. Staff up front are nice, even the person who walked me into the room and took my blood pressure was nice. However, Dr. Beecher is the worst, no exaggeration, the worst provider I have ever seen in my entire life. I have seen him time to time for a health issue that has been persisting for years. None of his advice, or medication prescribed as alleviated the issue. I have seen multiple providers in the twin cities and they're puzzled to my medical issue as well, so as a last resort I came in today for him to fill out paperwork for the Mayo Clinic. (I have only heard positive things about Mayo, and am /THAT/ desperate for a solution, that I will drive out to Rochester.) He sits there with his "scribe" taking notes of the session, which was embarrassing to say the least having another person sit there. Dr. Beecher was not charismatic, empathetic, and said plainly "You've seen all these providers, if you go to the Mayo Clinic they probably won't help you at all as well, it's not even worth your time." THANKS, let me continue then suffering with this ailment that no one has been able to resolve. THANKS, for sitting there and offering no resolution whatsoever, recommendations, or help. All I needed was a recommendation letter from him. Not a discouraging, and shameful lecture on how it's not even worth my time to pursue, or offer any solutions. No, he sat there, shamed me, and then had some random assistant write the recommendation letter to the clinic, he signed his name at the bottom, and sent me off on my way without a goodbye or resolution. It's like putting a band aid on a gun shot. "Well, I hope this makes you feel better." Just WOW, what a horrid experience. Listen, I am not someone who descriminates against age in the slightest. I have seen people of all ages exceed in their professions. But Dr. Beecher, I think it's way past your prime at this point. Time to sit at home and do nothing, because that's a better use of your time then doing NOTHING, at a job where people's lives depend on getting healthcare! If you want to see a provider who sits there, judges you, and offers no help on your health issues. Well then, there's a perfect fit for you! The administration and communication between the clinic and patient is atrocious! I like my Dr. of 15+ years (Dr Meade) but to get communications to and from him is impossible. Comments made by more than one staff person are often contradictory with no apparent motivation or concern by the director to resolve the issue- just more apologies and arrogant assertions that they try to provide a good experience (FYI- that's what every business strives for-but obviously EFP is willing to pay lip service to the idea of professional service but are not truly committed to). The clinic administration's dog and pony show is a major impediment and at this point- the determining factor to switch health care providers outside Allina regardless how good Dr Meade may be. Doctor Dunn was hands-down the most awful doctor I've ever had the misfortune of meeting. He is VERY rude, curt and dismissive, no matter how much respect you treat him with. He kept talking to me like a child, and told me he "doesn't think my job could be that hard" (seen for pain). Also began to STRONGLY imply throughout the visit that I was only there to get prescribed drugs. Was also the 5th time in a row this place has insisted I can't see my normal doctor, so I had to see some random person. His "treatment" was completely useless. I'm worse off now, and baffled by the fact that this sad, sad man is somehow employed as a physician anywhere. However, if I would expect anyone to pull him off the streets and thrust a lab coat in his hands, it's Edina Family Physicians. Keep yourself healthy and stay away from this dumpster fire of a doctors' office. Also wanted to add, a template of a completely fake review was recommended before i started writing anything. This is clear manipulation of the reviews, potentially sending people to the wrong place for care because the care is so bad that too many people are upset, and you can't handle their completely understandable frustration? I have gone to Edina Family Physicians for years but post Covid they have gone from passable to awful. Communication seems to be a struggle. I have had issues in the past with appointments. We have a blizzard today and nobody called me or sent me a message on my chart that my appointment was canceled. This has been our family practice for the last several years since we left Park Nicollet. Our primary, Dr. Stephen Meade is professional, and takes his time when we have an appointment without making us feel rushed. He answers questions and his staff is wonderful. The care my family receives here is exceptional and it's obvious every time we visit that they understand how to deliver customer service. The doctors at EFP are wonderful, especially the fabulous Dr. John Beecher! They take their time with you and listen carefully to your issues. If I was rating EFP just on its medical professionals, it would get 5 stars. The administration of EFP leaves much to be desired. From the wait time when you call in - usually 2 to 5 minutes - to the wait time in the waiting room - usually 10-20 minues past your appointment time - to the seemingly indifferent front office staff, it's an administrative nightmare. If I was rating EFP just on its adminstration, it would get 1 star. I have noticed a slight improvement in the front office staff over the past year, so perhaps they are getting better!? read more

The front desk and Clinic Manager Gayla Krause are terrible at best. Dr Susan Espenson was good until she wasn't. She hides behind the Clinic Manager and leaves voice mails when she disagrees with you. She also has a side business. I guess being a doctor isn't her main focus. read more

Seriously mad at Dr. Beecher for prescribing my husband Lipitor with mildly elevated cholesterol with out even discussing the side effects with him or talking to him about exercise and diet. My husband has Crohn's Disease and here are the side effects of Lipitor-nausea, upper stomach pain, itching, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes). Less serious side effects may include: mild muscle pain; diarrhea; or mild nausea. BECAUSE HE DOENS'T HAVE ENOUGH OF THAT WITH HIS CROHN'S!! I will be finding my husband another doctor who isn't so old and who can discuss the importance of diet and exercise before mailing him a script. read more

I am very, very picky about healthcare but I finally found a home at Edina Family Physicians. Friendly, professional, and easy to work with (you can't often say that about healthcare anymore). To my knowledge they work with many insurance providers and they do their own lab and x-ray work. I like a one-stop shop... running to a lot of different providers or ancillary care centers makes me nervous for my privacy, communication and cost. This is also home to the cosmetic skin center, Rejuvenation Consultants, P.A. I don't utilize any of these services... yet. Even though they are "family physicians" I think they all have interest areas that they work in most often so I trust that I'm getting total quality care. They have urgent care but you need to call ahead. You are always seen by a physician at the urgent care. read more

Dr. Meade has been a great doc. But ever since Allina Health has taken over the service has been horrible. The service from the doctors is still excellent but the rest of the staff are rude. And trying to get anything scheduled or deal with referrals is nothing but a nightmare. read more

I've been a patient at the Edina Family Physicians 5203 Vernon Ave. clinic for several years after it was recommended to me by a nurse at Fairview Southdale. I've found EVERY staff member at the 5203 site to be personable, patient and helpful. It's easy to make an appointment, whether virtual or in person. I've received excellent care from Dr. Linda Claire Johnson. I had difficulty finding a good physician after I moved to this area of theTwin Cities and I knew at the first visit that Dr. Johnson was the competent physician with a great bedside manner that I was looking for. read more

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! I had a visit for a physical with Dr. Gamradt. I decided to go to her because Dr. Smith previously over charged me for the physical. The reasoning is that when he asked if I had other health concerns, I answered and they call that a different appointment (no longer covered by the physical). I went to Dr. Gamradt, explained to her my difficulty with the other provider, and things went great. My most recent physical, she did the same thing. They are scam artists and only in it for the money, not the care. They are the worst! Fool me once, shame on me, now twice, actually third time, let everyone know they are not to be trusted!! read more

Similar to other reviews, the doctors and nurses at Edina Family Physicians are great, but the administrative staff is terrible. For example, I scheduled an appointment at the IMAGING center for my stressed fractured foot. I arrived on time and waited 45 mins in the waiting room. Once I finally got into the office, the friendly nurse took my vitals, and I waited another 45 mins to see Dr. Beecher. When Dr. Beecher was warm, apologetic, and everything you could ask for in a physician - honestly, I don't blame him for the poor scheduling practices of his admin staff. After examining my foot, Dr. Beecher ordered an X-ray, and I was told the X-ray tech (at let me remind you... at the IMAGING center) had left for the day. fantastic. 1.5 hours of my time and all i had to show for it was a recommendation I should have my blood pressure re-checked (who's blood wouldn't be boiling by that point?). I was assured the x-ray tech from the other location would be over shortly. For the next 15 minutes, I heard the administrative staff gossip and complain like caddy school girls about the absent x-ray tech - only making my experience as a patient worse. read more

Edina Family Physicians have been my primary doctors all of my adult life. I am very impressed with this practice. Dr. Beecher is thorough, spends enough time, and follows up promptly. On occasion, I have seen other doctors within the group and have received the same quality care. While the office can be very busy at times, the waiting time to be seen by a doctor has not been an issue for me. I no longer live nearby, but it is worth my drive to Edina Family Physicians. I have been going to Edina Family Physicians for a few years. They have a friendly staff and it is always nice that they have doctors available for urgent care appointments every Saturday morning. I have seen Dr. Gamradt several times, however, who always frustrates me. It isn't uncommon for me to wait for over an hour after my scheduled appointment time, then she is so behind that she isn't a great listener and it feels like she often has a condescending tone. She has been named one of the Twin Cities best docs at one point, but that certainly hasn't been my experience with her. But, don't fret. There are other doctors at this location that I have been very pleased with. Overall, even when I haven't appreciated the "bedside manner" on some visits, they usually do a pretty comprehensive job. read more

Dr Burns the BEST of the BEST sure was my good fortune when somehow or another he examined my son took good care of him on Sports Related injuries in hockey and soccer concussions. so I had an entree to see him quite a few years back now and I couldn't wish for a better doctor even if I went to the Mayo Clinic or Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Meade is very knowledgeable in his field, If he does not have an answer to concern, he will always refer me to a specialist. I never feel rushed. I would highly recommend him as your PCP. I've had great experiences here. The physicians are vastly more knowledgeable than the less-trained staff who might care for you at other clinics. Yet, in terms of co-pays, I pay no more than I would if I went to MinuteClinic. **In other words, at EFP you get a physician w/ a medical school education and decades of experience for the same price as a nurse w/ a couple years of experience at another clinic. Who would you choose?** My son & I have been seeing Dr. Smith. He is insightful, experienced & cutting-edge. He treated my son w/ Candida for planters warts, a newer treatment that is far less painful than freezing warts off. (And it worked!) My only wish is that I could get my daughter in to the clinic the next time she is sick, but she would be a new patient, and those appointments take longer, which means I haven't been able to get her in for a same-day appointment. (And if you saw my daughter when she is sick, you would know how important a same-day appt. is.) I think I'll schedule her annual appt. at EFP though, and then she will be in the system. I actually feel reluctant to post this review, because then maybe even more people will go to the clinic, and I will have to share the clinic w/ that many more patients. read more

I recently had an appointment with Dr. Meade and it was one of the best experiences and doctors I have ever had. He was very knowledgeable and took time to explain everything ahead of time and answer questions. Dr. Meade was also very patient and personable. I found him to be a respectful and collaborative partner with my health. Only drawback to the visit was a rather rough and painful blood draw that left a large bruise. read more

The doctors here are excellent- Really informed, patient and willing to take the time to explain things to you. However, I can absolutely do without the people that work at the front desk. The eye rolling, snotty remarks and complacency make for an uncomfortable, unwelcoming visit. It's a shame. Good doctors should be accompanied by professional staff. read more

Previous reviewers are correct on saying the front staff is absolutely horrible here. So bad that I've stopped going to EFP. The last straw for me was I needed a prior authorization for the acid reflux prescription Nexium as I'm allergic to all the other PPI's. I break out in rashes with them along with other things. The staff called me to get the phone number for Blue Cross, and I was like, you don't have the phone number for Blue Cross? That was just the start. After five phone calls to EFP I just made an appointment with my doctor there who noted at my appointment I was allergic to all the other PPI's. After a week and a half of not hearing anything or seeing my prescription filled I called EFP. Their response was "insurance turned it down because they said you should take other PPI's." All this while the entire reason behind my appointment and getting my prescription was because I'm allergic to all of those PPI's. I told the staff the doctor specifically noted this (again) at my appointment, and they said "Well sometimes we don't get all of the doctor's information." STAY AWAY from this place. Seriously, it's horribly managed. read more

DOCTORS ARE GREAT, BUT FRONT DESK COULD USE IMPROVEMENT...If you call and get Sheryl at the front desk, ask for someone else to speak with. I have NEVER experienced such a rude person on the phone at a doctors office, I can now tell her voice becuase she is always negative, unhelpful and doesn't follow-up, I don't need warm and fuzzy, but at least be professional! I had a terrible experience at Edina Famimly Physicians. My appointment was at 1:30. I saw the GP I was scheduled with at 3. I was taken back to an office around 2:45. The waiting room was a zoo. It had the feel of a walk-in clinic. Unfortuatnely, it only got worse from there. As a Breast Cancer patient, I made an appointment with Dr. Gamradt due to hip pain I had been experiencing. Neither her or her nurse asked what stage my BC was diagnosed and in the consult she responded to me by saying "Breast Cancer patients are always worried about normal things".I responded by saying that "Unfortuatnely we have too". I wonder if she would say the same to her daughter, mother sister or friend who was a BC patient and started having hip pain? Eventually, due to my broad scary family history with BC, she wrote me a script for an MRI., However, she wrote it in such a way that no insurance company would ever pay by stating "elective" and "mild pain". I was so discouraged I ended up following up with my sons orthopedic at Edinasports & orthopedics spcialist. Dr Slevina I believe her name is. She was wonderful. She also referred me to Abbott Northwestern General Medicine Associates for a GP. The GP I saw there was also fantastic - Dr. Rasmusson. read more

FIND ANOTHER PROVIDER!! EPF is a cluster you-know-what from calling (and NEVER getting a call back) to scheduling to doctors who give you your prescribed 6-minute exam room time, it's a nightmare. If your issue is not resolved in that six minutes, you can fight for another appointment and another $250 office visit for more of the same, and likely eventually end up in the ER. If your health concern is more complex than strep throat, forget it. And, they refer to specialist who take at least six weeks to get an appointment. EPF IS BROKEN. read more

I usually don't feel compelled to write reviews but my experience today was absolutely awful. I changed doctors a while back because of poor experiences with a doctor at Edina Family but went in today for a flu shot because the location was convenient. Now I remember why I don't go here for my regular appointments. The office staff at EFP are some of the worst I have ever experienced - I felt like a complete burden to them. If that wasn't enough, when I got my flu shot the student nurse assistant in training got blood on my shirt. I would give zero stars if I could. read more

Don't go here! I had to put one star but I wish I could put none!!! Rude staff at the front, very poor customer service and the whole staff seemed very annoyed. I have been there twice, my doctor was Dr. Johnson, who was very rushed, unhelpful and wouldn't make eye contact with me. I had to wait a very long time in the room before she arrived and then she rushed off after spending less than 10 min with me. She also was not able to help me or able to refer me because, it seemed as if she didn't care either way. I left after two visits, still sick, no follow up on my condition. I would defiantly not recommend this office to anyone. Your health is important you should go somewhere where people want to help you get better. read more

Dr Beecher has been my doctor for 25 years. I have gone to him for a variety of procedures, physicals, minor illnesses, etc. I have never, ever felt rushed during my visit with him. He is quite deliberate and considerate. I consider him to be a personal friend and confidant. I could tell him anything and he would be direct, honest, and complete. He will make referrals to high quality specialists as needed. read more

The medical care I received was fine, but the billing practices are disgusting. I went to Edina Family Physicians for my annual physical and was billed $160 for a separate office visit because I discussed some minor ailments with the doctor. I am not a perfect person, as no one is, and this practice destroys the essence of the annual physical which should be a free exchange between the doctor and patient. I'm not suggesting someone gets an annual physical with a gunshot wound to the head, but the annual physical charge should include discussion between the doctor and patient about minor medical issues. read more

I have been going to EFP for years, but I have finally had it. While attempting to schedule my yearly physical I have been told to call back twice now. They wouldn't schedule my appointment, even when taking all my info. for another appointment that was not my physical. The wait times have become horrendous, and even my Dr. seems rushed and focused on meeting a quota of patients/day.
