It was worth a shot. I am incredibly thankful that I made that decision. Dr. Canfield was the first doctor who REALLY listened to me, and most important, actually figured out what was wrong with me! He was very respectful, and didn't treat me like I was a hypochondriac or that my problem obviously had to do with my weight. (This might sound weird, but folks of size will probably understand. When you're heavy, some doctors think that EVERYTHING that goes wrong must be because of that. It often isn't; in this case it most certainly wasn't.) Dr. Canfield ordered the necessary tests, and when it was time to deliver the tough diagnosis, he did so with sensitivity and care. Ellie made a huge diagnostic error, and then misinformed me of test results that she never actually ordered. She put my safety and the health of others at risk and has potentially caused lasting damages to my health. At the same visit that she made this error, she ordered a dozen unnecessary tests without my knowledge or approval, knowing that my insurance would not cover these tests. She did not inform me of these tests she ordered until a week after my appointment. I now received a bill for these tests totalling nearly $400. I would not trust her to be an advocate for my health and I will never seek care from her again.

I needed a physical and my regular doctor was unavailable, so I had an appointment with Ellie, who is in the same clinic as my primary physician. I was nervous, as I always am before meeting a new health care provider; I've just had a lot of bad experiences. When you're heavy like I am, many physicians will forget to see you as a human being; they only see the number on the scale. Ellie, however, put me at ease right away. She made eye contact, listened to what I was saying, and took me seriously. She didn't try to preach to me about my weight, but she did want to make sure I knew what I needed to do to lose it, and that I had a plan in place. It was a perfect mix of respect (seeing that I am intelligent and know what I need to do), and conscientiousness (making sure I was going to do it). Ellie asked probing questions to truly understand my medical history. She was very gentle, and was great at distracting me during the *ahem* uncomfortable parts of the exam. I've been very nervous about the prospect of my wonderful doctor, Dr. Canfield, retiring, but now I know I'll be OK, if I can keep going to see Ellie Price.

Are you sick right now? Don't bother calling, no one's available. Did you finally get in but need lab work? They now use Quest Diagnostics. Despite have 3 times the lab staff that they had when they were independent, you will have an unacceptable wait time. Quest will then ask for your insurance information ( which you just gave to the front desk). Two days later you will receive a bill directly from Quest telling you that payment is due NOW despite them not submitting it to your insurance. The doctors and office staff are wonderful but Allina has truly made this a nightmare experience!

I had been with this clinic for 18 and it was a functiona, small, STABLE, clinic. They are awful…read morenow. They no longer have a billing person in house. They use some sketchy person from somewhere in her basement now. She never returns calls either. They use to have 5 very experienced doctors for the first 15 years I was there. Then Dr Nelson went part time to golf and play footsie with Fairview corporate. ALL the rest of the stable doctors all quit or retired. I was forced to change doctors 3 times the last 2 1/2 years. The facility now has 2 PAs, which isn't a huge thing but you now have 1.5 doctors running 2 PAs. And both PA quit after several months. And the one full time doctor slot changes every 18 months. So you have 1/2 a physician with more than 10 years experience. The nurses rock though and total angels. After 18 years it made it hard for me to switch clinics but I CANNOT bear their incompetence any longer. Avoid this clic and just find another Fairview Clinic because RMG is a Fairview offshoot anyway. AVOID at all costs.
