The coolest thing is that it is the custom here to walk with a  pushcart, so I get lots of exercise.

The starter salads were romaine free because of the recent e coli outbreak. Kudos. Nice creamy balsamic dressing, colorful, fresh. The rolls were sourdoughy, warm and fragrant. Red had a chicken dish rolled around a bread stuffing covered in a rich gravy topped with dried random cranberries, good mashed, perfectly cooked green beans. Apple had the steak, topped with a burgundy sauce, same mashed and beans. The meat was a bit dry but he ate everything. I had the parm, of course. Anyway, it was eggplant, thinly sliced, pressed into a lasagna almost, topped with a beautiful thick layer of flavorful, gooey cheese, a bit crisp on the edges, and a rich red sauce that was better than just about any I've ever had. The rigatoni on the side was boring, as was the presentation, but this parm was perfectly assembled. Wow. OK this is a review of a special event, but let me tell you, the parking is ample, the grounds are spectacular, the space is lavish and beautiful, the staff were courteous and kind and professional (x5). The green beans at least appeared to have been freshly steamed (cool when they arrived). Our dessert was cheesecake. (Friends said I make a better dessert.) It reminds one of the Mashomack hunt club - if it were transported 100 miles north, plunked into suburbia, and catered to well-off golfing corporate types instead of wingshooting hedge fund billionaires and old money. The building itself is old and gracious, the staff thoughtful and understated, the vibe fairly 1%. Food surprisingly good, decent wine, lovely cake, and a pretty vista. Are those rooms one might sleep in up there on the second deck? How awesome if so -- you could tie one on at the reception, insult the bride's mum, take a punch from her pa, drop trou on stage with the best man and moon the dancing crowd, have a whiz off the patio by the flickering light of a gas fire, pass out face-down in the lap of a panicked flower girl, and be heaved unconscious into a guest bed upstairs by the club manager and the groom's cousin who played high school football. (I did none of those things, more's the pity. But I did get my bottom pinched by the superannuated and superinebriated wife of the family lawyer while in line for coffee - which family, still not sure. Thrill of the evening for boring old me.) Four stars for a very memorable, high-class, good-natured fun time; not five because - well, because it's not Mashomack.

Currently playing there are 10-12 groups on 3 holes. Looking close to 4 hours to play 9 - YES. 4 hours to play 9 holes. And out of all the golf courses in the area this is the most expensive one with 4 or 5 fairways dug up as seen in the picture. It's fine if you want to put drainage in but don't charge me full price when the course is under construction.

I don't know Bob Kennedy and perhaps he was just having a bad day, but he was very confrontational and short tempered with me and his staff. He made up one excuse after another as to why we couldn't use the gift card and why he wouldn't give us a store credit for 2 more rounds with a cart considering there was only 2 of us that day. Not only was he a very stand-off-ish person; he made an already painfully slow round even worse when he sent out not 1 but 2 groups to cut us off on the turn. Round took over 5 hours. Can't see us ever going back again.

"There's your other two-some" I told him I am not waiting I scheduled for 12:22 and I was a half hour early because golf etiquette you don't run up to the tee box AT the time. Anyways. 12:22 comes and the 2 kids still are not coming out of the clubhouse. The starter said "they are just paying" i said well, We are teeing off. He said "no hold please". I said. "What time is our tee time?" He said "12:22" It was 12:23 at this time still no one around.... So finally i said "Mike hit away" and he got all mad and said "I tell you when you can go" And then he said "someone is on the shit list" For what being there early??? I wanted to beat the rain and had dinner plans. It's not my fault you guys want to squeeze every possible person out there.... Come to find out. The kids only had one bag. We will never return as much as I love the course. (Since I'm on the shit list) No one ever treats me like that or punishes me for being on time....
