The natural light and big windows with river views were perfect for getting our makeup done. They also had chairs with big mirrors for hair. There was so much space to spread out and I loved that we got to spend the entire day in such a great space. My friend already got her sneak peak for photos and the light is just incredible and backdrop of the space was great for those shots. The space was also very private so we were able to use it as a kid hang space during cocktails for our children (a ring barer and the flower girl). The wedding itself was also great with delicious food and accommodating staff. Our friends got to brew their own beer to serve at the wedding as part of the package, such a fun touch!

After all of the planning our wedding day came, and what a fairy tale it was. My husband and I, our families and friends are just speechless at how magical it was. The day from the very beginning to end was perfect. The timeline Andrea put together for us went smoothly. Her and her assistant Hayley were on top of everything, and also had anything you could think of on them. Shout out to the aprons with scissors, tissues, and anything else you would never think of needing during the getting ready process! We also did a first look on the roof top. I will remember that moment forever, it was so magical and breath taking up there. The private moment we got to share together really made us feel on top of the world. Now to the good part, the food! The in house catering meadowlark was perfection! There were so many options for those who had special dietary restrictions but also so many options for those who don't. Everything, and I mean everything was delicious. The way the Takk house team comes together for your big day is beautiful. The building is pretty nondescript from the outside with a poorly done modern façade but the interior retains the charm of a 19th century brownstone. When you enter the building you can either go up the stairs or down to the coolest looking non working bowling alley. Upstairs is a large rectangular bar and a grand staircase to the second level. Straight ahead is the ballroom, with men's and ladies rooms in the hallway. Heidi, one of the owners, was kind enough to let us take a peak upstairs - there's a couple of rooms, one set up like a bedroom, the other with a dining table and chairs. I think further along is a balcony that overlooks the ballroom. The 3rd floor contains the owner's apartment and a gym that's under renovation. The place is not bright and shiny and brand new, instead it retains its 19th century charm along with some funky cool thrown in. I think if I was looking for a non-traditional (not cookie cutter) venue Takk House would be my pick.

Staff was incredibly helpful despite how loud it can get at times and they always were nothing but courteous. The Beer and Cider selection is top notch. As a cider fan I'm glad they have many varieties and hope to see some more brands make an appearance on the menu. The bathroom was clean and well stocked although there is only one bathroom so later in the night it became a bit of a wait. Only other very minor gripes are I wish there was a few more tables because sometimes it's good to just sit down and the sound mixing can be on the loud side for an indoor performance. The consensus of our party was if nobody got food poisoning we'd consider it a win, so giving a second star for that at least!

The lobby area is perfectly equipped with lots of TVs, booths, seating areas for business meetings or just getting some work done and hanging out. The hotel is super clean and looks and feels like recently built. Mattress was comfortable, the curtains provided full darkness, the climate unit worked smoothly, and the bathroom was excellent and clean. Location is very convenient, close to highway exit. That would be a perfect stay, but unfortunately there was a serious problem with noise coming from the highway and Hudson bridge next to the hotel. Buses, trucks, motorcycles, crazy road racers, etc. - we heard all of them, especially as the morning was approaching. The noise was heard even with earplugs, though this way it was tolerable. Hotel in such location must have sound proof windows. We've been to many hotels next to highways but never had a problem with noise. Had to read other people's reviews. We can recommend this hotel for those for whom heavy road noise is not an issue.
