In the past (going back several years) I've had nothing but excellent service from this company. But recently one of my garage doors was damaged when a landscaper's truck backed up into it. I called Ed's and they told me they could come out to look at it, but because my home is now outside their service area (it wasn't when they installed and serviced my doors and openers in the past) there would be a travel charge of $75. I agreed and a technician was dispatched to my home to evaluate the damage. I was also charged for an hour of labor (about another $175). [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was told someone would get back to me with a repair estimate but weeks went by without a response. I contacted them and I was told they would get back to me. We had an emergency door failure due to a snapped spring on a freezing cold day. Ed's Garage Doors dispatched a knowledgeable technician that day. He promptly and professionally repaired the door in less than 30 minutes. He noticed my other garage doors had screws missing and told me he could address the situation which would also help balance the doors. Initially I waived him off because of the coldness but he said it would only take a few minutes. In less than 20 minutes he tightened all the screws, replacing 5-10 missing screws, greased the joints and wheels, and then fixed a broken remote clicker. Upon his completion all three of my doors (one a large double door) were functioning smoothly and quietly. I was totally satisfied with his work from a quality and price perspective. Sadly, I wasted 5 months of my limited time dealing with this company so I would have a functional garage door by the winter. I chose the door back in early September 2024 and quickly made a deposit. My contractor then noticed that the dimensions wouldn't work. We therefore reordered 2 doors mid October that would work dimensionally. Fine - no problem. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I checked on the order before the holidays - no response. I checked again on status after the holidays and finally got a call back to say that the order was never put in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Wow! I said "don't order again until you talk to me, I'm not happy". I called again and they had placed the order (3 months late!) without my consent. I called back and asked for a full refund via a check. The next week after not hearing any confirmation- I called again. It turns out they credited my credit card (which eliminated my credit card points I had earned - a double whammy. I bought a new door opener 4 months ago and the new torsion spring broke. my other two doors have springs at least 10 years old and they're working well. not only am I disappointed by the poor installation since it obviously was done properly, but here's the worst part my car is trapped in the garage. it's the weekend and they claim 24 hour service. This was the first place I went to and I didn't need to check out any other competitors in the area for a quote. I was helped right away upon walking in. My salesman (Eric) was extremely knowledgeable and was able to answer my questions on the spot which helped me with making my decision that day. Upon coming out to my location to view the 3 garage bays, he suggested a new kind of design "high lift" He immediately returned to work and sent me the pamphlets and photos explaining this new track system. Don't waste your time. Called for a tune up when the tech arrived he noticed which company my door opener was and that was it. He either didn't know how to work it or it would have taken a little time to figure it out. So he leaves claims the office will call on Monday - guess what no call. That was not surprising. Bottom Line---Ed's Garage Doors gets straight "A's" all across the board. The quality is truly outstanding---they were built exactly to spec--and yes I measured every thing---the installation--well I was not there but my wife was and she said he could not have been nicer ---- the sales person was aggressive enough while be low key at the same time ----as far as price, they were not the cheapest nor were they the most expensive---but in the end, I truly believe I got more than what I paid for --- seriously it has dressed up my house to the point that others have made positive remarks and have asked where I got the doors---When someone can satisfy me, I become there best advertisement---shop all you want, but you will not find anyone better than Ed's Garage Doors---as mentioned straight "A's" across the board. read more
