I love this hospital. I always have. From birthing babies, to broken bones, surgeries, and kidney stones, I've been here a lot. The staff and personnel are so attentive. Sitting here since 5am waiting while a loved one had surgery, Kathy, a volunteer in the surgical waiting room, could not have been kinder. Seeing my kid curled up asleep in a recliner, she went and got a hot blanket and tucked her in, saying she looked cold. My kid sighed in her sleep and began to snore. That was so thoughtful. My wife went to Edwards Hospital for Kidney stone removal. The nurses are great they took great care of her and were always helping her with whatever was needed. MY issue is the Management of the Hospital really sucks. Anytime my wife needed any kind of supplies the staff had to search for it for her.. like she's a large woman and needed a larger woman and needed a bariatric gown, and couldn't get one anywhere, seems this is a constant problem getting supplies. So now while they are trying to get the needed supplies its taking away from the caretime for the patients. Management seems more focused on pinching a few pennies to save a buck rather than give patients proper care. this is only one example Edwards Managers: listen to the nurses etc. give them what they need to care for patients, they should be able to get whatever is needed, after all they do charge an astronomical amount for simple items. read more

I have met a lot of doctors, nurses and care team members in this hospital the pastyear because of my mom's health issues. The care you receive really depends on the day and department but has been positive more often than it has been negative. But that's always how things are in a large hospital. Our latest visit was for an outpatient procedure. Our main RN couldn't get the IV into my mom's veins twice and had to call another nurse in who thankfully got it in right away. However, when our main RN was struggling she would just throw all of her equipment including the uncapped, used needles of failure all over my mother's bed. After the IV disaster, everything else went smoothly in terms of care except it was awkward because the nurses would talk loudly throughout the whole visit we were sitting in the room about their personal lives and also about us as well. It is always awkward when you hear people talking about you "behind your back" especially in a medical setting. I was happy to see that the department called the day after the visit to follow up and check on how my mom is doing. That was very considerate. Also, in terms of food, I do need to note that the cafeteria, Riverbend Cafe, is surprisingly great in terms of cost and food quality. :) read more

Wife was scheduled for surgery to remove her gallbladder at 9 AM well it changed to 3PM then 4PM then 8 PM it is now 830PM and we're still waiting. She has been vomiting for 2 weeks and has dropped 19 lbs and only weighs 102. She's had nothing to eat since 5 PM yesterday. She's also on dialysis. The doctor came by to apologize but not his fault. Terrible coordination. Do not recommend this place. The nurses and Doctors have been great though. read more

One would think a multi million hospital would extend a little more care to its patients. I just had a stent placed. They tried to do it through my wrist but was unsuccessful. So they did it through my groin area. It was a success however I was on my way to grab a bite to eat and my wrist bandage ended up rupturing I'm on blood thinners and almost bled out I've been waiting in the ER for well over 2 hours for a room. I spent 12 days in the Pulmonary unit at Edward recently. First off - most all the staff works VERY hard and does a great job. Ever since becoming a "for profit" hospital, there have been a lot of changes including staff cutbacks/layoffs. The Pulmonary unit is in the older part of the hospital. There's definitely issues with equipment, etc., that needs to be replaced. They have issues with getting things that shouldn't be an issue - like pillows. That was a big problem in the ER (where I started out) - as I couldn't get a pillow there. There are procedures that should be looked at and modified. For example, stable patients shouldn't need vital checks as often in the middle of the night. Sleep was very hard for me to get. I was exhausted by the end of my stay. There were other issues like with dirty linens. The techs were expected to take them somewhere outside the unit at the end of their day. Their should be bins within the unit! There are two elevators that are used by transport staff to take patients down to the 1st floor for CTs and ultrasounds (among other procedures). One of these elevators had been broken down for a month as of when I was first admitted and was no closer to being fixed when I left. I'm a "hard stick" - so my IV was a problem. The first placed in the ER failed - and my left arm swelled up (that's just starting to improve now at home). The second IV lasted nearly a week - which was great. However, when it failed - it took a long time to get it successfully replaced. Their policy is 2 tries and stop - but it was hard to get anyone to try. The nurse manager tried his best and couldn't get it. Jackie went above and beyond to try to find someone to place the IV. (In the meantime - an order for a central line was put in.) Sarah - the charge nurse - came in with a special light that allowed her to see my deep, small veins. After a lot of work - she hit it! I was so happy - and so thankful. Most of the phlebotomists were good and did their best to draw blood. I did have to tell a couple that they shouldn't try to draw from an arm with an active IV (when I was getting my antibiotic, for example) - just from above the IV or below it if the tourniquet is between the IV and draw site. My other arm was swollen with fluid from the elbow down - from an IV that failed (may have "blown"). I went through what they call a MIST2 procedure - as I had pleurisy and they needed chest drains to inject special meds/liquids that break down pockets of fluid that can then be pulled out. This is a very painful procedure - and Dr Flores (one of the pulmonologists) warned me about it. They used dilaulid injections in my IV every 2 hours for this pain. When the IV failed - I had a lot of pain. This was worse than labor and the kidney stones I had many years ago. I did have issues sometimes getting the dilaulid regularly. This was due to nurses spread too thin. I want to specially note some of the nurses whose names I remember - that went "above and beyond" in my care. I already mentioned Jackie and Sarah (charge nurse). I'd also like to add Crystal, Joselyn, Abby, Heather, Kylie, Diana and Jenna. I'd like to also add Techs - Crystal, Anissa and Sana. I know there were others whose names I didn't recall. The transport staff were also great. I hope upper management at Edward/Endeavor appreciates their staff and all they do. You're lucky to have them. I saw several pulmonologists. I really liked Dr. Yu, Dr. Flores and Dr. Wiese. There were others that were rather condescending - or were in and out of my room in a flash! I do notice sometimes that some (not all!) male doctors can be more condescending toward women. They may assume older women like me never worked and aren't as intelligent. I've been in IT for over 45 years now - and still work full time. I plan to retire when 70. I really disliked when I was talked to as if I couldn't comprehend much. read more

My husband was brought in by ambulance to ER and it was one of the worst experiences he has ever had. It was a very sensitive situation and the staff failed him , and now we are being billed for sub par care. The mere fact they would charge our insurance company and we weren't even formally registered is wild to me. I nor my husband gave authorization for any billing. Disappointment is beyond what I experienced here today. I came in because I was diagnosed with a perianal abscess which caused me severe pain when sleeping, moving, eating and daily life functions. I stated from the start of my appointment that I wanted to have this abscess drained. I was told that would be fine, had to do some testing, and that procedure would be less that 40 minutes and I'd be on my way. They had me go through all these test to make sure that was good to go, which in reality was 10 minutes of tests and 4 hours of waiting. I was then told I was going to be transferred from Plainfield to Naperville for the OR room and had to get there promptly at 12:00 pm. I was there early and placed into a room. 4 hours went by until the surgery team decided to talk to me and told me that I may have to stay overnight night and have my procedure tomorrow. I am beyond frustrated because they won't let me eat or drink (I've been here since 5 am), they keep making false promises even telling me to tell my ride to come to the hospital then dismissing them because my surgery might night be for hours. Currently still waiting in my room. Asked for a pillow and wasn't given one but rather a hard blanket crumpled up. Someone just stole my tv remote. I'm hoping I am out of here soon bc i don't know how much longer I can take it here. It would have been better had they scheduled a time for me, but I'm stuck in a loop of being in the er and "being a non emergency" because my pain isn't life threatening enough for them. read more

They did a great job taking care of my daughter, until it came time for her release. At that point, they kept stalling, disappearing, telling us they needed to wait for someone else, and essentially put off the process as long as possible. My daughter's surgeon said she could be released the night of her procedure. She wasn't ready, but they assured us with the discharge order that she could leave first thing in the morning. Then the story changed, they needed a doctor to come check her for release, because they did not see the discharge order in the system. How is this the case, when they read all the information to us the night before? After my wife went and finally made a stink about it, they finally moved. The last straw was when the nurse, apparently offended by our advocating for ourselves, had the audacity to gas light my daughter and guilt trip her about being upset at the delay in sending her home. Claiming that they were taking care of another patient who was dying, which is why apparently no one on the floor could help. We will be making different choices in the future. I appreciate that they are likely understaffed, but it simply seemed like they wanted to milk the insurance for more money, by delaying her coming home. read more

Came in yesterday evening with chest pressure, fatigue, tachycardia(I get tachy at random intervals), and shortness of breath. Was able to get ekg, and vitals but cause of my small veins they tried to attempt to prick a vein to get blood drawings for the blood tests but weren't successful so they canceled my blood tests and just put a bandage over where they tried to take my blood. So didn't get any chest X-ray, or blood tests done for me!!! Just ekg and blood pressure. Than was sent out to wait in waiting room. I came in at like 5:30 pm. And sat there since 10 pm! I only got triaged but never admitted on in or seen by dr. So my dad came for me and I just left for home getting impatient as it took so long and I didn't wanna sit till midnight as I was getting starving! Was told though by nurses that my ekg looked good(well I guess that's good? But I won't know though what my blood test results would be since we weren't able to get that for me). (I just hope I'll be ok! Especially having to wait next to a crowd of sick people: as I have three trace valve regurgitations in pulmonic, tricuspid, and mitral valve and irbbb. And am small built for my height as I am underweight and struggling to gain. So idk if that would or wouldn't make me immunocompromised and cause me serious/dangerous problems if I catch an illness from someone. And if someone's illness or not will worsen these said stuff for me. As idk! As I'm also a very anxious for my health person. Also hope they didn't puncture any no no place when they tried to attempt drawing my blood? Cause now feel soreness in left arm where they tried and sore ring and pinky finger on left hand... dunno if that be normal or not as again I'm a health anxious person... and just wanna be ok. I just want to be 100% ok always ya know?) Update: noticed blood pressure was apparently 118/58 and now I'm sitting here today and freaking out about that. Especially all felt yesterday. I be praying I have nothing serious!!! Still feeling tachy and sometimes drowsy today! And worrying what this is because I didn't get seen. read more

I had an emergency last Sunday at 4am and went to Endeavor Health Edward Hospital in Naperville. I was thankful that I was quickly brought into the ER and into my own room. The doctors were very professional trying to find out why I had a 10 level pain in my lower back and after hours of working with me with different medications, I was admitted to the Spine Department. I spent 4 days there in a private room being attended by the most caring, loving and compassionate nurses, doctors, techs and other staff members. The window showing the sunlight and the large trees were helpful in humanizing this experience. The staff was very helpful, friendly and made every attempt to lower my agonizing back pain. THE FOOD IS INCREDIBLE HERE!!! NO JOKE! My wife and I eat real food that I cook from scratch every week. I felt that the love and care with these beautiful, tasty and nutritious meals were made by grandmothers. (They have been gone for decades) The staff that brought my food were just as caring and compassionate to assist in my healing. I have been home now for 2 days with little pain and I'm following up with my orthopedic doctor. I am grateful for everything that was put into place to make this experience incredibly loving and most importantly, very healing. Thank You!! read more

We take our baby because she have a temperature 101.7 and the doctor just said "that is a normal temperature". They basically didn't do anything, other than send us home. This review is directed to the lab, testing and diagnostic side. I don't think I've ever been to a lab that was so efficient. They don't seem short staffed and are attentive. I would debate that being full staff helped them be efficient but that's just my two cents. Staff is friendly and they make it as easy as possible. I've been here a few times for testing and this will be the spot I come to for any and all of my testing because it's just so quick. Sometimes the lobby/waiting room can look full but they move rather quickly. If you need labs, this is a good spot. South parking will get you close. Make an appt online, nice and easy. read more

This was one of the worst hospitals in Naperville. There was 0 security, which makes me think anyone could just walk in which is scary. You don't know who is coming in and out of the hospital. The care was pretty bad too, there was only 1 doctor in during the entire time we were there, almost 20 hours. The people were nice, but every time we told them what was wrong it's like they couldn't fix the problem. They discharged us so quick it seemed like we were just to check off the list. read more

I have seen several doctors at Edward and all have been fabulous! Dr. Pirocznik is a fabulous OB/GYN and tthe nurses in her office are so sweet. Dr. Grossweiner in dermatology is also so patient, kind and is conservative health wise, which really puts you at ease. Recently also went to the occupational health center for travel health and had the loveliest nurse, Amy. She spent over 90 minutes reviewing information and talking to me and was great at giving shots (I don't do well with needles and she made it the best it could be). She had great bedaide manner and even came back to check on me a few times when the doctor was ruNning late. Can't say enough good things about her! I have had a few issues with cleanliness in bathrooms when giving labs, but the staff are always attentive when it is brought to their attention. read more

I had to go to Pulmonary Rehab for Lung Transplant but back in april i removed myself from the transplant list due to a contributing factor which played a huge part Edward Pulmonary Rehab Played I was told i could not come back because of inappropriate behavior , What i did wrong was i did not lift weights and other exercises that would have interfered with my herniated disks. Also they sent a letter to my home confirming this but adding my language, first of all the other paients didnt go there anymore and 2nd when you can hardly breathe and your on machines ya dont talk . So much lying Ok i use air all day i walk with a 15 pound Inogen ya dont talk and walk and ni had ear buds in my ears , The problem is these people Discrimminated Against me because of who i am and because i couldnt do certain things. This review isn't a reflection of the staff or medical professionals of Edward Hospital which I found to all be amazing and very professional. It is a reflection that Edward billed me an astronomical amount of money for a non-emergency CT scan. I was charged $10,924. A quick Google search indicates the national average for a CT scan in Illinois is $550-$1,450. I had a CT scan earlier this year at DuPage Medical and I was billed for $903. Why is it that Edward, a couple miles away, is billing $10,021 more for a CT scan than DuPage Medical is? Where is the transparency? The average cost without using insurance for a CT scan is $220-$634 again according to Google. There was no transparency in the cost of the procedure and after reaching out to the billing staff, they weren't able to provide any transparency of the cost after the procedure. Where is the adherence to the new law requiring hospitals to provide easy-to-read pricing? If I had known the cost of this procedure at Edward Hospital going in, I would have gone a different route and you should too now that you've read my review. read more

Listen. Patients aren't stupid. Don't let family members speak for your patient unless they legally can and the patient is unconscious. Think outside the box. An Edward doctor had prescribed several medications to me, and they could be toxic if mixed. He wanted me to go into Linden. Then we moved. My doctor in SC took less than a minute to spot the problem. I'm feeling better, but may have heart damage! My husband then called 911 and had me put in a mental hospital for two weeks. My marriage is on the rocks now. Your ER is to be avoided unless a life is threatened. Your PCP are lousy. They don't have enough time to listen and help their patients. My husbands PCP ignored his complaints about bad bruising and unusual bleeding and is now under the care of a specialist in SC because blood work wasn't ordered to look into his problem. We both may have life shortening issues from seeing Edwards doctors who didn't invest the time and effort into their patients. Sad! read more

My young son had surgery there. They had trouble putting in the IV but 2 nurses eventually got it. When he was brought into the operating room, the anesthesiologist begin pumping in the medication, and the IV was not in his vein. His hand blew up and they had to try to get the IV in again while he was in the operating room without me. The IV is the worst part for a child. The whole experience was traumatizing for him. I feel as if it should have been noticed before all the meds were pumped in. Sent a bill for only $86 dollars to a collection agency after billing the incorrect address (their fault) for a year. Never even knew the bill existed before hearing from a debt collector. I agree with all the bad reviews and I'm shocked this hospital is still allowed to operate. How is a hospital allowed to have dirt all over the floor, be freezing cold and not give patients water or even a pillow or blanket on their little transport bed they have to lay on for hours? The ER uses temporary agency nurses who act like they couldn't care less about you. I also agree with another reviewer that the nurses here look at you like you're crazy, talk down to you and are very rude. If your mental health is suffering as it is then stay away at all costs because these people are toxic. The nurses just sat on their computers together the whole time. Never once checked on me. I could tell my nurse didn't even understand or care about my diagnosis and what I was saying, and she condescendingly wrote off my pain as "probably just muscle pain from starting physical therapy." Do not go here expecting any care or compassion. All they care about here is trying to catch people drug seeking, even going so far as to require you give a urine sample when you finally get a room. They say it's a requirement in case you need xrays but it was obvious what they were doing. Intake nurse practically interrogated me with more focus on trick drug seeking questions than the reason I was there. In the end, after 5 hours I got no treatment and left this horrible place. Oh records department are POS too them and their inexperienced very rude young nurses will literally lie on record and refuse to correct errors they made just to save face and not admit their mistakes so they don't get in trouble for malpractice. My daughter just had a Cath Lab procedure at Edward. Top notch! Great nurses and staff.

Visiting w a friend who was getting an echocardiogram. We showed up a few minutes for the appt., as instructed (also thank you staff for wonderful directions around the campus and navigating parking), and enjoyed a view looking out into a garden/outdoor space. Our echo tech greeted us within a few minutes, described how the procedure would work, and answered questions and explained what we were seeing through our whole appointment. He was excellent, I'm just sorry I can't remember his name!! Facilities were clean, modern, and staff was extremely efficient and kind! If I have to go to the hospital for anything I would definitely come here in the future!! read more
