My husband also sees Dr. Douglas (we almost never go together due to work schedules) and my husband has similar experiences. The staff here is great and the office runs efficiently. Dr. Douglas runs on time. I've never had a wait. My husband is typically a difficult stick. The phlebotomist here is awesome and always gets him on the first time. Dr. Douglas is kind and takes a real interest in you, not just as a patient but as a person. Dr. Douglas is a huge dog lover and has photos of his dogs in the exam rooms. It's a nice touch so that the office feels less sterile and more welcoming. It's also nice to get a glimpse into his hobbies/ outside interests. That way you see him not just as your doctor but as a human. Overall I highly recommend Dr. Douglas. He is a wonderful PCP. You want someone who takes the time to listen and gets to know you as a person. The location is convenient for me but even if I lived a little further away, I'd drive the extra distance for a good doctor.

I also needed to establish a physician for my lower back L4, L5 and S1 pain medications I am on for over 20 years. Nurse practitioner came, took list of my meds mail order. She ordered my meds. Upon receiving the meds I noticed, she didn't order one of my meds for 90 days BUT for 30 days with no refills. I called pharmacy. Pharmacy replied, doctor ordered for 30 days with no refill. I called doctor's office. The doctor says he will not write 90 days or 30 days refill until he checks my physical. The clinic is stuck up, making totally irrelevant excuses to write meds refill or for 90 days. In order to further establish state of my physical, doctor went ahead with my blood test. I also requested to check if I am allergic to any unknown allergy. Besides, The unqualified staff who don't know how to read blood pressure. The pressure was so high, the nurse practitioner refused to order my medication I am using for almost 20 years. Well anyway, I went back to get blood drawn for testing purpose making sure there is nothing wrong anymore apart from some unknown allergic reaction I had earlier. The 2nd nurse came in to draw my blood. She can't even find my vein. Huh.... She send 3rd nurse to draw the blood. She gets it without making "ANY EXTRA DIGGING" efforts. Two days after, doctor on duty on Sunday calls asking "IF I AM DOING OK?" I was surprised. I went curious asking why what you find? Doctor says, my "SUGAR IS SO LOW" he wanted to make sure I am ok. I said something is wrong with your test. My sugar isn't as low as might think. I am absolutely active, working, going to gym. He said, there should be something wrong in test. He asked if anything went wrong while they drawing the blood? I said, the nurse named Deborah could find my vein. So she went ahead ask 3rd nurse to draw the blood. That's all. He orders 2nd blood drawn. I went today for another blood draw. 4th nurse came to draw the blood. He instigated if I get bruises a lot. I said, yes depending on how much you dig in my body. He takes my blood, then leaves all near by me, goes out to check if I have follow up appointment for test result discussions. I requested again, to write refill plus 90 days supply for my pain medicines. The receptionist said, she will send in message forward. They will call. Nurse named Deborah called, started crying for the same. They will not order another refill or 90 days supply. I said, you are not making any sense. She Says, my blood pressure was too high. It seemed like the doctors office practicing unethical behavior to cash on new patience. Moreover I am above 60 so I am a target of their atrocious pattern of behavior. I restrict anyone visiting FMA Facility located in Winter Spring, Florida. These center is milking patience not helping or do not know how to treat their Patience. Beware! Do not go there.

I came in as a healthy, young male for a pre-employment physical. Working in healthcare, I get physicals at least annually, among other tests and screens. She could have easily performed a cursory physical exam, asked me whether I could physically work, and signed my form. Instead, Dr. Velez provided a complete physical exam, obtained a full medical and surgical history, and screened me for a few health conditions based on my intake forms and family history. Needless to say, I was impressed with her approach this visit. Not only does she provide comprehensive care, she also knows how to build rapport. She entered the room with a friendly smile, used little medical jargon, which improves communication for many, and was very approachable. If I were to stay in Orlando, she would be my primary care physician! Velez Family Health is located in Dr. Phillips in an office building. I am very impressed with both the staff at the Dr's office, as well as Dr. Ruggerio himself. I didn't wait for anything more then a few minutes at any point in time, even in the actual waiting room, which is where the majority of patients are kept suffering in my experience. I was called in within ten minutes to a room, and seen almost immediately by Dr. Ruggerio. Not only did he have a very thorough understanding of my RA, he also did an in-depth analysis of my medical history to make some recommendations that would help manage RA better. Unlike some other doctors, he really spent time getting to know my medical history and helping me out. I didn't feel at any point in time like he felt rushed or bored and ready to move on to the next patient. Imagine; a doctor that actually CARES about his patients and not just his pocket. The staff follow up was excellent as well. The nurse sat with me to look up some specialists in the area (I was still travelling to NY to see my rhematologist a few times a year), and called a few days later to check in.
