If I could give PNC half a star, I would. Their mortgage practices feel predatory, and the most…read morefrustrating part is that homeowners have no control over who ends up servicing their loan unless they refinance. I recently tried--for the second time--to remove my PMI. Two months ago, my home appraised significantly higher, yet PNC's new appraisal came back $60,000 lower with zero adjustments, even though the comparable properties were clearly different. After I challenged the report, they suddenly approved it, which raises even more concerns. From there, things only got worse. PNC completed another escrow analysis, but instead of removing PMI entirely, they reduced only about half. Their comparison statement is confusing and misleading--one column shows annual insurance, taxes, and PMI, while the other shows monthly principal, interest, and escrow. It's literally comparing apples to oranges, and it seems designed to make customers feel powerless. On top of that, when they returned the appraisal, the report was printed on a quarter of an 8x11 page--making it nearly impossible to review the comps for four properties in spreadsheet format. It's unprofessional and feels intentionally obstructive. If you bank with PNC, please reconsider. In my experience, if this is how they handle mortgage servicing, there may be other areas where customers are being taken advantage of. If your appraisal was denied and you'd like support, you can reach me at properties.care2019@gmail.com. PNC hires the appraisers they use, which creates an obvious conflict of interest--the appraiser has every incentive to favor the bank to keep getting their business.

Hard to review a bank but I'll offer a few general assessments and thoughts…read more 1. They are not adapting well to new technology. As part of the high interest account I signed up for I was required to sign for online statements. The website button you had to click to sign up didn't work. When I called a branch they were pretty clueless. Issue was finally resolved but it took a long time. They don't embrace messaging via the website like so many other banks have. Instead they ask you to call or come in person. 2. Not customer oriented. I had an issue related to fraudulent transactions which they didn't accommodate my desire to do it via electronic means rather than the hassle of a trip. I was given the wrong form to complete and again staff didn't seem knowledgeable about the process. A lot of "I don't know the answer- I have to ask someone". Also when I signed up for my account at the branch process took much longer than other local banks I've signed up with. 3. Inconvenient branches. I live in Netcong (the heart of their home base) about 20 minutes to the closest branch. I only anticipated going to a branch once for signup so distance wasnt a big deal. But when you have to go into a branch (see above) and all their branches are in more rural areas (i.e. you can't hit them on the way to other errands) it's a pain in the neck. Again their mentality seems to be they want to remain a brick and mortar bank and only embrace online banking as much as they have to. They might play well with some older folks but not the younger generation of bank customers. If you're looking to get a high yield interest account ($10k limit) it might be worth it to to get an account. Anything else I would strongly advise looking elsewhere. By comparison another local bank, Provident, does things so much better. More frustration with this bank than all my other banks (BoA, Wells Fargo, Provident) combined.

I originally became associated with him when I had a small amount to invest. He has continually helped me to grow my initial investment as well as advising me for all other investments. I am totally pleased that when it became necessary to roll over my employer 401k, I turned it over to him without hesitation. As the market has its ups and downs, there has not been a period of time where he has not managed to wipe off the loss and increase my account values. He is very in-tune with market, and is always more than happy to review your portfolio and answer any questions in layman terms. His integrity is outstanding. There is no doubt that he has his clients best interest at heart. F. L. Have no idea why yelp has me as living in San Fran.
