The buyer of my former house used this company to inspect the water and well systems. They tried upselling a bunch of work that didn't need done. The inspector said the well pump was pulling "too much amperage" at 8.5amps even though the pump was rated to run at 9.3 amps. He recommended replacing the electric wire to the pump and replacing the pump, even though the pump was less than a year old. He also incorrectly identified the pump make and model. They then tried citing the EPA for Ph on residential drinking water systems despite the fact the EPA doesn't mandate or regulate residential systems, and the test results were well within the county's guidelines. In summary, they have no clue what they are doing, but are willing to upcharge unknowing customers for excess work and use invalid sources to scare customers into spending money. read more

Before they started removing the old pump, we had some questions. Steve was very knowledgeable of all working parts of a well. It amazed us how he could share this information in the way we could understand the mechanics of what was going wrong with our original pump. We used Powell to assess a property we were buying. It needed all new well equipment, that was clear. They ended up charging the seller for the inspection. The seller thought I was trying to play a game and avoid the charge. I called Powell several times to pay for the inspection and they would not call me back. I would get their answering service at 4:30PM even though they say they are open until 5pm. I needed my realtor to contact the right person in order to receive a response and resolve the situation. Fast forward 30 days when I wanted to replace the equipment. I called up and spoke with a tech about the equipment options and agreed to move forward. This was a $10K project. He told me that he would pass this project on to the scheduling team and they would call me back shortly. That was on a Friday. On Tuesday I called back to set up the work. They had no record of any estimate in my file. They also spoke with the tech who had no recollection that I spoke with him just a few days prior. I understand people make mistakes but there were too many gaps in service to do any further business with this company. read more

When I purchased my house in September 2017, Powell did a major upgrade on my well. Water test came back showing a low pH and iron in the water. Powell put in a neutralizer and a water conditioner along with a 200 gallon tank in November 2017. Currently, I'm having my basement waterproofed. Powell came and moved my system so the waterproofing company had room to work. Overall, Powell has done excellent work. Their technicians have been courteous and professional. If you have never lived with well water, it can be a learning experience the first time that you buy a house that is not on the public water system. We decided to use Powell because the former homeowners had been doing so. We must say that we were pretty pleased from start to finish. We wanted to know what we had and the condition of the system, etc. We spoke with Chris who was very helpful in explaining how everything work and let us know what we could expect from year to year, how to maintain things, etc. I am unsure how we could have asked for better service. I called Edward Powell Pump and Well because my water softener had stopped working. The problem was a tiny plastic nut that had broken. This part probably cost them ten cents, literally, but the breakdown of charges was this: $30 (!!!!!) for the tiny plastic nut, plus $120 labor, plus $9 tax. Total: $159.00. Are you kidding me???? That a ridiculous overcharge, in my opinion. Oh, and they tried to sell me more ph solution, which I won't need for over a year. I should have called the plumber; he would have charged under $100. Horrible customers service! They have no idea what is going on. They were out here 10 days ago and replaced our well pump. We did as instructed and called back after all of the chlorine was our of our system. They had no idea who we were and had no record of being out to our house. They, however, did not delay on charging our card an un godly amount of money for the service they have no record of. They agreed to send someone out to test our water but not until the following day. The tech came out and took a test, said the results would take 4 days. After 4 days we called them at 9am and they said they would check to see if our results were back. No one ucalled. Called again today and they still have no answers. I have a toddler and a newborn at home! We paid almost 2k and have been without potable water for 7 days now with no answers or help. read more

Lets talk about integrity. The true colors of a company are shown went service situations arise. On the 25th Powell installed a well water filtration system at my mothers home the job seemed to go well, there was a noticeable increase in water pressure which i believe came from an adjustment of the pressure switch to off set the installation of the system. That same day a water line blow out above the well tank,flooding the downstairs area of her home. A water restoration company was called and they came in to clean and dry the area. Today - 5/29 one of the owners met me to review the damage- at this time he explained that he did not feel it was their fault that the water line failed and they would not be covering the damage. He went on to explain they didn't touch the fitting that came apart after the installation crew had left. I find this very interesting that when you depressurize a water system especially on a well, where barbed fittings are used at all connections, That these fittings are not checked for slippage prior to leaving the property.I would say that is standard practice on any kind of work that requires the water system to be shut down ,drained down and then re-pressurized especially when the fittings in question are in Plainview of an area that was accessed during the installation . Unfortunately for everyone we are forced to pursue further action to resolve this issue. I would not do business with a company that leaves an 86-year-old woman in the situation she was left in. read more

Just moved in to our house and wanted to set up a service contract to maintain water conditioning system. My experience dealing with Edward Powell was very satisfactory. Had quick response and kept up to date on technician arrival. Tech was extremely nice and knowledgeable. He explained in detail the system, and what he had done. He also explained the cost for each item that was serviced. Tough to put a price on not having safe reliable water in your house. This company is honest, reliable, and does fast and thorough work. I had a problem with my jet pump (which was older than I probably am and running continuously). The owner came out THAT DAY to take a look at it. He was very personable and took time to answer all of my questions thoroughly. They couldn't replace it for two weeks due to scheduling, but he managed to turn the pressure down so it would at least save us on electricity for the time being. That was so thoughtful and an indicator of how they run their business. It is a family business with fair prices, honest and friendly workers, and no hidden surprises. They replaced my jet pump with a submersible in exactly the time they predicted and for the price quoted . They worked with me to make sure the least amount of my garden was destroyed. They took extra care around my plants. No plants were broken even with them digging within a couple inches of them! Highly recommend their work.
