We purchased our home from Edward Homes in El Paso in October 2022. From the start, the kitchen and bathroom cabinets were installed poorly--doors and drawers misaligned, gaps between panels, and obvious workmanship defects. During the one-year warranty period we contacted Edward Homes many times, by phone and email, to have the issues corrected. They rarely returned calls, missed scheduled appointments, and when subcontractors finally came out, they offered only superficial fixes. One subcontractor even handed us a can of paint and told us to "touch it up ourselves," rather than repairing the underlying problems. Three years later the cabinets remain uneven and cheaply finished, exactly as they were when we moved in. We followed all warranty procedures and have detailed records of our attempts to get proper service. Homebuyers deserve better follow-through and professionalism. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Edward Homes to anyone expecting quality workmanship or reliable warranty support. read more

We have lived in our Edwards home for just under a year and wanted to take the time to write a fair and honest review based on our full experience. When we first moved in, we were impressed with the exterior of the home and the move-in incentives that Edwards offered. The layout is open and well thought out, and the home has great curb appeal. However, once we settled in, it became clear that the construction quality and materials used throughout the home are not on the same level as the design. The paint used inside the home is very thin and easily scuffs or chips with even light contact. In many places, the painting looks rushed. There are uneven lines, baseboards that were painted over rather than taped off, and window trim with visible mistakes. In several areas, there are paint splatters on the floor that were never cleaned before move-in. Tile work in the master bathroom has been one of the bigger concerns. The tiles were not installed evenly, and one of them eventually cracked. That crack allowed moisture to get in, which led to mold growth. When we contacted Edwards, they responded quickly and sent someone out to repair it. Although the tile was replaced, mold appeared again a short time later. One of the contractors explained that the issue likely came from the tile not being set properly during the original installation. We later noticed that several other tiles in the same bathroom appear to be shifting or uneven. We also experienced multiple smaller quality issues throughout the home. Closet doors had loose screws. Several outlets and light switches were installed crooked. A few power outlets in the kitchen have started to come loose. The caulking in different areas of the home has begun to crack or pull away, and much of it appears unfinished. These are not major issues on their own, but taken together they point to rushed workmanship. Sound insulation is another challenge. You can clearly hear outside noise such as cars or dogs barking across the street. Inside the home, there is very little sound privacy. Conversations or other noises travel easily from room to room. We were also disappointed with the landscaping. Before closing, we were told we would have input on the front yard design. However, by the time we had our final walk-through, it was already completed. When we asked about it, we were told it could not be changed. This was frustrating because we have seen other homeowners in the same community who were allowed to make selections. Concrete work around the home was not completed to a high standard. There are visible concrete splashes on the walkway that have been there since we moved in. They were noted during our initial walk-through, but we were told nothing could be done. The front of the driveway also looks unfinished. Rocks were used to fill in a gap rather than completing the surface properly. The rock wall in the backyard has also started to crack. Despite all of these concerns, I want to note that the Edwards staff has always been friendly and professional. Service requests are handled quickly and the maintenance team has consistently shown up on time. Our interactions with the office and field staff have all been positive. In the end, though, we are living with the home itself. While it may meet inspection requirements, the quality of the finishes and attention to detail does not reflect what we expected from a new build. The home looks great from a distance, but a closer look reveals that many parts were completed with speed rather than care. If you are looking for a home with a nice layout and strong visual appeal, Edwards may be a good fit. If you are focused on high quality finishes and lasting craftsmanship, you may want to take a closer look before making a decision. read more

I do not advise Military/Veterans to purchase from Edwards Homes. I am giving Edwards Homes a "One Star" because for one year they just wasted my time and peace of mind. I got out of the Military in 2020 from Ft. Irwin, CA and planned my move to El Paso. I am a man of "thick skin", but Edwards Homes broke me emotionally. My house search started in 2021. I am a 100 percent disabled veteran, so I am using my VA home loan to purchase a new home from Edwards Homes. I Contacted them and sent them my (Pre-Qual) letter from the VA Home loan and everything started to go well. The house I wanted was priced at 189,000. The realtor and I contacted each other back and forth for a year and I would pick color schemes for the house and all the interior and exterior features of the house were chosen by me, so the house was being built for me. Then around August of 2021(when the home was supposed to be complete) all communication ceased between Edwards Homes and I. I had left my apartment to move into my home, but came to El Paso and was greeted to a incomplete home. It was difficult to get answers and impossible to get a hold of anyone from Edwards Homes. Around that same time the builders wanted to increase an extra six grand for lumbar that I had to pay out of pocket because the house was appraised at 190,000 so the lumbar raised the house price to 196,000. (VA Home loans will only pay what the house is appraised or valued at). At this point I didn't have anywhere to live so I had to stay in hotels until the house was complete. There were a few other months after that Edwards Homes kept sending me paperwork (addendums) to extend the time of the home completion. I kept going along because I had already spent my time and energy on that home as well as an Earnest Money and had already put the gas bill to my name for the home and I didn't want to get an apartment with contract. Well, the final straw came around February of 2022, when we were within weeks of finally closing and then out of nowhere the house price went up 20 grand! The (Treasure and Office Manager) of Edward's Homes was very cold hearted about the situation and she said 216,000 was the final price. After a year of effort and time into the home I was just thrown out and felt used. Being 100 P&T Disabled Vet I wouldn't had to pay property taxes on the home so my mortgage would have been 900 dollars a month. So now I was forced to scramble all over the place to find an apartment which are scarce in El Paso, so I settled for a condo that I pay 1600 a month for. This company literally controlled my life for a year, and they did not Honor the initial price of the home for 189,00 that I waited a year for. I saw that house being built from ground up and it was substandard. The lumbar that they use for frame is cracked, the walls are cheap, and the doorway frames are uneven. Edwards Homes obviously do not support the military or Veterans they say they do, but at the end they only support the money. Although I have the names of the realtor of Edwards Homes and emails to prove my story, I will not publish them because I do not mess with people's livelihoods. It's been 3 weeks of leaving voicemails and emails with no response in order to get the minor problems fixed. We haven't received a return call from their landscaper to finish the front yard either. These homes have the potential to be gorgeous, but only when built with the proper attention to detail. It's not a good sign when the shower knob falls off without explanation, the internal doors won't stay shut due to misalignment, and the exterior of the house is missing a couple of spots of paint between the windows, or when the air conditioning system didn't have filters installed. Customers who pay a premium don't appreciate being disenfranchised by their builder's company. It quickly becomes a salted wound when your own staff refuses to answer the phone, return calls or emails, or follow through with the list of things they promise to take care of. read more

WAIT. WHAT?!? In the kitchen they asked me if i had left my garage disposal running for awhile without water! RIDICULOUS! Warranty Team are Brothers so they cover for each other. Management and back office staff are related and they do the same. Nice floor plans that if built and serviced correctly would be nice homes. WORST of all is TERRIBLE service from warranty department and management! Buying a new home at a premium price; this is not what we expected in purchasing a new home on the Westside! When I was first exposed to Edwards Homes in the Northeast I was amazed at the quality of craftsmanship. So when my wife and I decided to move to the westside I thought it would be a logical choice to buy an Edwards Home. I was wrong. In the Northeast they took pride in the fact that they used plywood wood all the around the outside of the home while other builders did not. That's not the case anymore, plywood is only used in the corners. The plumbing is not user friendly for those who wish to add a water softener to the home without effecting the outside plumbing. I have a leak in the master bath jetted tub that has already been fixed once but still has not stopped leaking. The walls around one of the closets had to be rebuilt because it was not level causing the door to still funny. Doors inside the home will not stay open unless you put something in front of them. You can not use the stove when the AC is running because of vent placement and the AC unit is undersized for this home. They will tell you one thing about the landscaping, but when you finally meet with the landscaper everything is an upgrade. The landscaper planted two trees in front of my home that were already dead. The landscaper has no clue on the plants for this region either. **** update***** So we have been in our home for less then a year and we have major cracking in the stucco, the fix provided by the builder was to just paint over them. Cracks came right back. Toilet in hall bathroom still smells like raw sewage. Truly disappointed. read more

If your think about buying a home from this builder, PLEASE DONT!! There isn't enough space here to list all the problems with this company but its been a nightmare thus far. My living room ceiling developed a leak the first month, my showers flooded in 2 separate bathrooms, the landscapers are contracted out and its nearly impossible to get them back to house to fix the founded flaws. Ended up with a $200 water bill due to the leaking landscape. The flooring upstairs in my house needed adjustments due to the quality of the wood originally installed during building. The grout is pealing off the countertops causing water to seep into the gaps. The cabinet colors are fading and it hasn't even been a year. We had a home from this builder and after 3 years, we just got rid of it. Never again will we do business with them. They failed to honor much of the warranty work. I guess I should've more clear, it's not that they would actually honor it, they just would never respond or show up to do the fixes. This is a terrible builder if you want service after the sale. After selling the home, I lost 20k and three years of headache. Just bought from a different builder who's been top notch. I'd move on from buying a home from this builder unless you like aggravation after the sale. read more

My house has been 97 degrees for 6 weeks and they won't fix it. My shingles are falling off and its been less than a year. I had to finish painting the house myself because they literally wouldn't do it. Its embarrassing to live in a home built by these people.. Shouldn't be allowed to build or sell homes. read more

Edwards is always changing their telephone number and not letting customers know. I think they have the cheapest, shoddiest millwork I have ever seen. The cabinets have tons of nail holes and scratches that is filled in with putty. They hinges bend. My front door has settled crooked in the home. They landscaping doesn't last longer than a year. My accent wall is leaning forward and separating. They DO NOT, I REPEAT do not contact you for warranty work. When you do contact them, it's not done correctly and they will destroy your home further than fixing the items that need to be corrected. When I was at closing I almost walked away because my house wasn't ready. They promised me the moon and back and had crews out there working hard every day. They also ruined cabinets, dented my refrigerator door, and refused to replace the 8 foot door that was warped. I am still having issues to this day. I made my 1 year warranty request and only 2 items have been taken care of that were contractor issues. I will tell you that they actually put water bottles on the roof to support the ceramic tiles instead of the correct supports. We asked them to fix it and they cracked tiles, seams and filled everything with grout. I told them my sinks weren't finished and I told them I wanted new ones. They sent out a person to "refinish" them. He left spray paint everywhere, drip marks down the tub and we had to deal with a caustic smell for two days. This is why I wanted new sinks. They poured the walkway and part of it was chipped. At closing, they patched it by gluing concrete together. My walkway is broken again. It needs to be re-poured and I supposed I will have to hire someone to do that. We went a whole year without filters in our HVAC system. This past winter when we turned on the heat we realized we have been running the system without filters! Oh! and when they cracked out garden tub by fixing the paint in the bathroom, they did replace it. However they never plugged it in! Basic stuff that it takes to build and operate a home escapes them. They get your ceiling fans, lighting and bath fixtures from Lowes. Last, when I had a man do my back landscaping he couldn't find the same rock I had in my front yard. He took a sample to the quarry and was told that Edwards uses "scrap rock" and blends it for landscaping. Really?! I didn't pay what I paid for a new home to find out that the builder used scraps. My neighbor and I are disgusted with them. If anyone wants to get together for a class action, let me know. read more

Well Here we are in a new year and still having problems. Still wating to get things fixed, crack in ceiling getting bigger and found big crack outside wall, Floor still have problems, shower, and shower door, tile which looks like a 5 year old put them, also rail going upstairs and higher wall were promised and nothing has been done. I call the office and she says they will send someone and just plays that game as no one comes. Then you call again and again and again and no one answers. Then you call the next day and it says the mailbox is full can't leave messages. This builder should be ashamed to be such a rip off. They make all kind of promises and didn't do the rail going up the stairs as I'm disabled veteran, higher wall so my small dogs will be safe and they say yes they will do, it but nothing and now I might have to pay for it. Do your self a favor and go some where else. It seems they are just stalling so the year will be up and not have to do anything. I guess time to go to the Better Business Bureau and Attorney General. read more

Love my new home, it's has been a VERY rough ride with this whole new home construction, honestly felt very discouraged through the process. But i am very thankful for Eder and all of his help. He has promised he would fix many of the things that were wrong and he came through. Now that's caring for the client! Update, some of the things we have found in our home have been disappointing. Our quartz countertops do not match one another, the cabinetry is very cheap and has so many flaws. Wish they would have used more better quality products. read more

I just closed on my home with Edward's and I couldn't be more excited! My home is so beautiful, I love everything about it!!! The whole process took a few months and during that time I was able to do some research on home buying and also take a new home ownership course which was required by my lender and I am so glad I did because it explained so much about the whole home buying process from beginning to end. I think that one of the most important things that I learned is that even a new home will not be 100% perfect and may have deficiencies and that's why it is so important to hire an inspector. There are a few minor cosmetic details that still need to be addressed (foreman explained this is normal and I will be seeing this throughout the first month) but they will be taken care of on my 30-day warranty visit. But overall, the whole process was smooth and I cannot stress enough how beautiful my home is. I will recommend Edward's Homes any day :) read more
