Again, this is a display of dishonesty from the company, because the reply to my review stated we moved into our home with only 2 outstanding punchlist items, I'll clarify how many punchlist items we actually had since they obviously don't care enough to keep track: 1. Caps on our great room chandelier were left dangling from the chains when they should've been secured to the cedar beam. According to the painter, the builder (you) said it was because it was missing screws. It wasn't. That was fixed 3 weeks after we moved in and only after we said we'd call the owner himself if that's what it took to fix it. 2. The glass door to our wine room was missing. It's taken 8 visits and it is still NOT done. 3. Missing one oven in kitchen. Was installed 1 week AFTER closing. 4. Pantry doors missing. Was just completed last Friday and only after 8 visits and them having to redo the doors completely. 5. Scratched appliances. Your subs damaged our range as they were moving and installing it in multiple places. The door was replaced a week and a half ago and the trim still hasn't been replaced. 6. Dents and scratches in microwave. Was replaced/fixed a week AFTER closing. 7. Master carpet was glued down instead of stretched properly. Completed 2 AFTER closing. 8. Cabinet hardware missing in the studio. Completed 2 weeks AFTER closing. 9. Missing towel bar in secondary bath. Completed 2 weeks AFTER closing. 10. Towel bar not properly installed in master bath. Completed 2 weeks AFTER closing. As anyone can see, there was much more than 2 things that were on our punchlist. Their PM knew about it but probably didn't reveal those things just like he wasn't willing to give us a survey unless we promised to recommend them. We weren't satisfied with the condition of our home. We were forced to move in because we had thousands of dollars tied into mover's and move out fees from our apartment. We actually postponed closing 2 days because all of these things were outstanding on the first closing date. In fact, we were so disgusted with the PM and the state of our home that we told them to forgo any pomp and circumstance that the company usually does because it was all a farce. The VP and PM told us that two employees I referred to in my original review were fired, one left because she moved out of town, and the other left to take a job with another builder; that's 4 of 7 employees we dealt with. The remaining three are still at the company. so their explanation that the pandemic was the reason why is false. The company still fails to accept that the level to which they claim to treat all of their customers was not met. We STILL have outstanding issues in our home and instead of accepting responsibility and doing the right thing they continue to make excuses. The fact that reply is filled with mistruths proves even further that they only care about looking good on paper and not in practice. read more

Pros: -Sales Staff very attentive -Build beautiful homes -Larger builder so many options for add on's and levels of finishes Cons: -Poor Communication from Construction Team -Construction changes rules without notice and affects how the sales team sold certain options -Lack of care from Construction Team when issues arise, and builder needs to fix an issue -Once house is "complete" lack of attention or progress to fix issues Unfortunately, I am not able to share a positive review for this builder. We absolutely loved our sales team Leslie and Brittany, our architect Erin and Designer Renee, all of whom have left the company or were pulled from our account with no explanation. Once we signed our contract and started our build process all positive feelings were quickly lost. Issues started when the construction team waited over 4 months from original foundation pour to start our build. (timeline stated 7/4 foundation pour and pour did not happen until late November). Because of this our original projected completion of May moved to August. While this may not seem like a big deal we were moving from Oregon and had to subsequently find 2 temp housing for our family and dogs at the last minute in July and August. (I confirmed when we put our house on the market in Oregon in May that June was still a target for move in.) This also made it very difficult for me to register my daughter for school as we had no permanent address. While the shift of timeline happens with home building, we were not informed in a timely manner that deadlines needed to be extended so we had to scramble to find temp housing at a premium price. I had to make several calls to get confirmation for deadlines. What is also frustrating is that our dirt grade was never reviewed or inspected prior to our flatwork being poured. Because of this we flood every time it rains with at its worse over 10" of standing water from our driveway to the front door. Because the grade was never reviewed all water rushes from one end of our house to the side where we have an engineered driveway that has 2- 4" pipes to support the drainage. We filed a warranty claim Oct 22 and waited and waited and waited and finally got movement in January with the builder, grading inspection was completed and failed, and we created a plan with landscaping, dirt movement and adjusting our flatwork to drain away from our driveway reducing our flooding. This week 3/11 I was informed that our PM was furloughed (now we have no one that started with our originally build) and the VP of construction who has been in the loop with all the issues has gone silent with no support. When I contacted client services, I was told all issues were resolved and I needed to file a warranty claim. Which I informed them I had back in October and the VP of constructed had instructed our PM to handle the issue in house. Now we are being asked to re connect with the warranty company and get new review of our issue. Prolonging the fix that is based on a failed inspection and increasing our frustration that Weston Dean is a builder you cannot trust. If you live in Texas, have virtually flat land and can watch all aspects of your build WD may be ok for you, but if you are building in hill country with even a small grade, I would steer clear of WD. Not only are they slow to pay their Subcontractors but they don't seem to have any idea how to build on a slope, or how to support people living outside of the state. I can't tell you how many times I had to remind my "team" that I could not just pop down to the property to approve something. WD ownership and higher-level leaders are not trustworthy or available to help when an issue arises. read more

Our sales counselor, Michael, was knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. He listened to our wants and needs and helped us design our dream home that was within our budget. We signed our contract late 2020, closed for construction feb 2021, slab poured Sept 2021, still do not have dry wall up July 2022. Paid out of pocket for selections that were never purchased and now we had to reselect countertops with a new vendor and we have to cover the overage because WD never purchased the countertops even though they billed us. Then they have the audacity to charge a management fee for the overage! Horrible experience that has been conveyed over and over to WD. Their answer, only if you don't write anything bad about us will we credit you for our (their) mistakes and if you do write something bad they have uncapped direct and indirect liabilities they can sue you for. We spent money on building our dream home, but was disappointed to find that our home was over priced and not really custom. So many builders offer a pie in the sky idea, but in actuality the quality is just as important as the dignity of one's work. These areas are lacking in this company. Weston Dean is an amazing custom home builder in the Texas Hill Country/ San Antonio area. Their customer service and commitment to excellence is by far the best. I interviewed 5 well known homebuilders in the area and hands down Weston Dean by far was the best. I relocated from the Washington DC area and I built in the Vintage Oaks area. My sales rep Michael along with my designer Renee were amazing. The project management team provided me with weekly updates and when the schedule was off track they promptly addressed my issues or concerns. I am prior military and law enforcement so working with my personality was not always easy but Weston Dean staff has mastered customer service.
