This will be a little long but hopefully worth the read. I'm an old golfer who stepped away from the game for almost 30 years. I might have played 10 time in the 30 years I was gone from the game but over the last 20 months (almost 2 years) I have started playing two to three times a week and I practice just about every day. Getting back into the game was tuff, I went to several different golf shops, got fitted into 2 sets of different clubs, tried different balls, and lets face it, the old swing of 30 years okay still hasn't returned. Actually wondering if it ever will at this point. However, as time goes on and improvements are made, I seem to be growing out of the equpiment which has cost me a pretty penny. I met Bill the store manager, several weeks back. Great guy and I feel like I have known him my entire life. Heck, I would consider him family now due to the ammount of time I spend at the store. He has met my wife and he has answered every question I have come up with. The latest was regarding the proper bounce in irons. Yes, I read to much and I know bounce is always talked about in wedges but not in irons. The last set of irons I was playing with, truly had very little bounce and for a game improvement iron; lets say I dug some great ditches which were not due to coming in to step. I also found out through additional research, I wasn't the only one having issues with these clubs. So I went back to Bill and he set me up John Stump; his club fitting specialist, his master fitter, his golf club guru, and professional equipment assignment director. John spent just under an hour and a half with me. Now remember, I was fitted twice before, one was real good and the other, lets just say nice guy but I hope he choked on the steaks he was able to buy with my purchase. Anyway, back to John. We started out with the clubs I currently owned. A great brand, well made clubs, but not for me anymore (maybe not for me then but they worked). John looked at my swing, took the reading and the fun began. John narrowed down my club selection pretty quick, numbers don't lie. I was in the right shaft. I didn't need the club face adjustment of 2 degrees down. So I started hitting golf balls. I hit a lot more than I needed to but I wanted to get a set of clubs I would be playing in for the next 10 years. John did this and I felt extreamly satisfied with the fitting. The thing I liked the most, John fit the clubs to how my swing is working now and if I improve the swing, the clubs will grow with me. I truly believe I have my set for years to come. Bill is boss and John is great at what he does. I will continue to visit them, I will send them all the business I can, and there is truly no reason to go anywhere else. read more

I'm not the biggest when it comes to leaving reviews. In fact, I just downloaded the yelp app to leave this review. I felt morally obligated from the great customer experience I just had with the fellas over at Edwin Watts Golf. I am a total newbie and the boys spent valuable time with me. Its a catch 22 situation right? You never played Golf before, but you kind of need clubs to go out and get lessons. John, one of the sales reps there set me on the fitting machine, saw the level of experience I had and pointed me in the right direction. He gave me various options to choose from. Everything from new & used clubs, different price ranges, bags, accessories, you name it. He made my first experience very pleasant and had me feeling confident out the door. I actually had to insist on the more expensive options because I am a big hobby guy, and when I go in, I go in. He was leaning towards the more conservative options and even showed me some really good used options to help introduce me into the sport. Overall great experience and I am looking forward to going back as I progress to get more stuff. Its retail stores like this that will always prevail in an online dominated world because of the knowledgeable and friendly staff as well as the impeccable customer service. Go see John! Love The Jacksonville beach store. Close to my home. Really like the guys that work there and range of quality golf items available at the store. Club fitting at its best. Have been looking forward to writing a review about John Stump. Latest experience was just great. Went in to purchase new irons. Told John What I was looking for. He actually took notes. He then started the Club Fitting process asking me about my golf game. We decided on testing three different brands and shafts. After taking more than enough swings, He compared the three brands/shafts from the data on the computer screen and explained his suggested clubs. I agreed completely. I also got a new bag and John helped with that explaining differences in each bag. Received my irons in a very short time by air freight and decided to take the grip upgrade offer and told John. He had my new grips all done in two hours. Just a few other items. Also went through the same process with John on a new 5 wood. Just love it. Since I had new clubs, I decided to give my son the clubs I had been using. New John could help me once again, so went in and asked if he had a box that I might have to send clubs to my son. Getting older. Had major surgery 7.5 years ago. Just started 'really' playing golf again. Needed to replace my beloved Mizuno irons after many years. Came to the store and met Patrick and the owner (sorry, forgot your name). Patrick took the time to listen and work with me on issues with my game. We hit many clubs and settled on a set, sort of. I also shopped at the PGA Superstore, which is exactly that. I large retail outlet with no real personal service. I was never made to feel like I mattered there, and the person assigned to help me didn't really seem to care. Upon my return to see Patrick at Edvin Watts, I was surprised at his recollection of what I hit there, and we rehashed what I was looking to accomplish, and he worked with me some more. Together, we crafted a new set of irons and added a 5 wood to fill the gap. Can't wait to see how I perform with my new equipment! You also have 90 days to decide if you like the. No questions asked. Bottom line. If you want to be treated like a general customer in a big box, go to the Superstore. If you value professional service and want to believe that people genuinely care for the sport and you, go see the guys at Edwin Watts at the beach. I'll be back! read more

My workmate has some new Callaway irons that I've tried, but wasn't sure i was ready. Walked in as a "lookie Lou" and Tracy, new sheriff in town at the store, came to check on me. Easy breezy conversation, listened to me, did the "hold the puppy thing" with some irons and a driver i NEVER would have looked at and we were deep into tryin "stuff". Went back the next day after doing my homework on line, Tracy allowed me more "try it you'll like it" and i DID! Got Mr. Bill involved, we had a great conversation about my trade options and he worked on "the numbers". I've been coming into this store, bought SEVERAL USED clubs over the last four years, and always been satisfied with "Billy and the Boyz" as i call them, and how they've treated me, they make a good team; Tracy will make a good addition. A couple of weeks ago I went into the Edwin Watts store at their Jacksonville Beach location and my mission was to get fitted for a new driver. I met with their club fitter, John Felice, whom I had actually played with a number of times, and he suggested I come in to see him. He said, "I honestly feel your driver is not properly set-up for you". Well, I am so glad I saw John! After hitting lots of balls with different drivers, shafts and set-ups, I walked out with a demo driver set-up based on the Trackman figures. I was able to play two rounds with that demo which I feel is so very important to be able to make an informed decision based on results! So, I returned two days later and walked out with a new driver that has been a game changer for me. I'm now hitting the ball a lot farther and straighter than I have in the past 10 years! Today I drove down to Jacksonville Beach after going to Edwin Watts in Jacksonville on Phillips Highway and The PGA Superstore in Jacksonville and Hilton Head, SC over the last 2 weeks. So today (Mach 24, 2021) I went to the Edwin Watts in Jacksonville Beach where I was greeted by Keith Agel. I must tell you that his professionalism and knowledge was impeccable. He spent a lot of time in assisting me in trying to find the correct irons and a driver that would work for me. For the first time in over 20 plus years of playing golf and purchasing equipment, Keith's honesty and integrity was something that you as a consumer could appreciate. I never found a driver but ended up purchasing a set of irons. I cannot say enough great things about this store, it's store manager Bill and club fitting specialist John Stump. John is amazing at what he does. I had never been properly fitted for clubs and went in today to "just look". Every employee said hello to us and offered to help. John came over to us and I ended up with a proper club fitting, some great instruction, and a brand new set of clubs! The time he spent with us and his attention to detail is five star. Have been purchasing golf equipment from this store for 20 years and my most recent experience deserved an online review. Recently I bought a XXIO demo driver to test their technology..came back 2 months ago and got the used 5 wood and decided I would fill in with the 3 wood. Could not find a demo/used model so I tested last year's new model against my existing 3 wood. Frank put me on the monitor and the numbers were good. Then proceeded to trade my 2 year old 3 wood ( bought here)...Frank talked to his manager and after some back and forth, the deal was done.. Bill Sellinger, store mgr, should be proud of these guys. I got fitted for a new set of irons with John Stump, Master Club Fitter. John did a great job, I only have the use of my right arm and John adapted to my needs like the pro that he is. I was also interested in a new driver, but wasn't getting much difference from my old driver, John suggested getting used to my new irons (Callaway Maverik) for a while, then maybe re-visit the driver. I recently was fitted for clubs by Tommy. He gave excellent customer service and was very knowledgeable about golf itself, but the mathematics behind the game and what measurements contribute to certain shots. The manager, Bill, also was great to work with. Both he and Tommy got us through the line and set up to take my news clubs out fast. Keith was also great. I had a cracked 3 Ping 3 wood and brought it in to see if they would send it back to have it replaced. They had it OVERNIGHT shipped to the store and I was able to pick it up the next day. Incredible service, the guys in there are awesome and have helped me out with a bunch of different things. They helped fit my brother for his new driver and helped him in selecting a new putter too!
