The set…read moremenu consists of: three layered pork belly; sirloin; marinated beef; duck; shrimp; and squid. Bulgogi Haus offered four types of sauces when two is the norm, for varying combinations of flavors. The meats are grilled in front of you on charcoal, and the servers take care to replace the charcoal at least once so that you are not eating burnt pieces of meat. I really liked the concept of having the side dishes buffet-style. It's really a mood-killer when you run out of lettuce or salad in the middle of eating your meats then waiting for your server to refill your salads. The offerings included fried calamari, Korean-sushi, sticky and sweet potatoes, fish cakes, and kimchi. Bulgogi-Haus does not seem to use MSG, even in their yummy kimchi, and I was simply content after the meal without having to reach for extra glasses of water. Kudos for having a coat rack separate from the dining tables so that the coats don't smell like meat after, and kudos for the plum wine/aloe drinks on the house!

Not just our table, every table had consistent excellent service. I'm from Australia where there is a large presence of Korean food. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. It was easy travel on the U-Bahn (tram) from Cologne central station. Welcoming break from all the heavy Bavarian food. Highlights: 1. The service 2. Friendly staff 3. Fresh meat and seafood 4. Unlimited Kim chi and rice buffet. So many different styles! 5. Cheap!! 6. Located away from a touristy area...so you know it's made for locals and not just a fast food place. I will be back again, hungry for more! Only next time I'll definitely make a booking to be safe

My burger quest continues with my next stop here…read more Read many mixed reviews about this place so I didn't really know what to expect. The seating was a little tight and the interior was nothing special. The service was not so friendly but wow they made the burgers fast. Under 10 minutes easily. Now I ordered the BBQ Burger with fries and sesame mayo. The fries were fresh and got but nothing special. The mayo was quite good though. The burger was sloppy but in a good way. No way you can eat it with your hands and without a napkin. But messy with burgers to me is a good thing. Great flavor but the bun overwhelmed the meat which was disappointing. Quick, good price and messy yummy burgers :)

It's kind of dark on the outside, so that you just don't notice at first sight if the place is full or not. When i got in i was welcomed with some nice hip hop music on the background, and saw a huge menu written on the wall, the options are pretty big. I ordered a BBQ burger with fries and to my surprise they have Tannen Zäpfle beer, KUDOS! It took about 20 minutes 'til i got my burger, which is a reasonable amount of time, i don't know if the place was full how long it would've taken. The meat was really good seasoned and cooked perfectly. The bun was really good, not too hard nor soft, the sauce was delicious, the fries were freshly made and boiling hot! Overall i found the price is OK for the quality of the burger. The place is nice, but a little bit too hipster for my taste, even though i'll be coming here more often. Good burgers less than 10 minutes walking distance from home is just an unbeatable deal.

Korean BBQ meets the electric grill! This is the way to do Korean BBQ, I think, if you have an…read moreengagement after dinner. While the electric grill doesn't eliminate all the meat odor from your clothes, you could get by with a nice walk outside. (I did this before a concert and no one gave me the stink eye during the show, so I am assuming that my strategy succeeded.) Meat.ing is quality Korean BBQ in a chic setting. You will be comfortably full, but this is not what you would necessarily seek out to pig out. Its side dish offerings are delicious and apparently use very little or no MSG, evidenced by how comfortable my stomach felt after the meal. The kimchi is on the sour side, which I personally prefer in ramen soups rather than eating it as a side dish. But all the other side dishes made up for it. The meats are well prepared and quite tender. We came for dinner and chose Menu 1, which includes 3-layered pork belly, sirloin, and three types of marinated meats (chicken, beef, and pork). The marinade was a good balance of sweet and savory. The dinner offerings are stylized as course offerings, so you can expect appetizer (fried dumplings) and dessert (honey yogurt with fruit). Lovely dinner option in Koln and a must visit if you want a great Korean BBQ experience!

The friendly waitress greeted us with warm towels to clean our hands and a free dumpling appetizer (mandu) to start. The banchan (side dishes) were also a great variety (and for those unfamiliar with Korean restaurants, the plentiful side dishes are always free.) The presentation was also nice, and the meat was well-marinated. We chose Menu 1, which included pork, chicken, beef, samgyupsal, and bulgogi. Dinner ended with a refreshing yogurt/fruit dessert that was simple but hit the spot and cleansed the palette after a hearty meal- also included in the menu (complimentary). Cost was very reasonable, considering the sheer amount of food- 22.90 per person (excluding drinks). Another bonus- they use electric grills, which means no smokey charcoal smell on your clothes afterwards. Some people prefer coals, but I sometimes prefer the simple method of electric- seems better for the health too (less carcinogenic fumes, hopefully?). If you haven't been here yet, go! Service is very friendly, and most of the servers can speak English, Korean, and German very well. (Note: I've been to some of the best Korean BBQ places in America, and I have to say that European Korean BBQ is much different. Atmosphere is different, taste is slightly different, and I've yet to see a place offer LA galbi. It's the same way that Italian, Spanish, and even American cuisine is interpreted and presented drastically different in Europe, probably because of different ingredients, as well as the need to meet the European palette of the typical clientele. It's fascinating for me to go to Korean restaurants in Europe and see the cultural translation and spin on it.)
