This restaurant has been the cornerstone of the Guelph breakfast scene for decades and I visit this place monthly. The staff are friendly and professional. Excellent at their jobs. The decor is casual and comfortable. The portions are still ample however the quality seems to be in decline over the last few months with our visit yesterday being a low point. My wife ordered her usual, Huevos Rancheros. What came out was a mess consisting of whole stewed tomatoes crammed into a tortilla. Partially cooked whole tomatoes are not enjoyable to eat and this dish was a shadow of its former self a month ago. We spoken with our waitress (whomwas great) had the dish returned to the kitchen and ordered an new replacement. The Arriba. The kitchen hustled to get it out to us which was great however it was bland and poorly executed. We ate what we could and paid our bill. We are going to give this place some time to find its new groove with the new management. Every penny counts these days and my entertainment dollars need to be spent on quality not shortcuts. We have been coming here for years, being our initial favourite breakfast place. We heard they recently have gone under new ownership and decided to try it out. We ordered our usual, 2 Mexican eggs Benedicts with the crispy potatoes on the side. The potatoes were fairly salty (both my husband and I made the same comment), and I ate half of my Benedict before I noticed a chunk of eggshell at which time I alerted the waitress who took the meal away. I didn't get a replacement & was shocked when we got the bill- they charged me half of the Benedict I ate - unknowingly - with the eggshell. I feel, after many years of our business, this was our last time there as we were truly disappointed at the managers decision to not fully credit my portion. read more

Usually I don't like a restaurant with a big menu because IMO it's better to master a few great dishes than be mediocre at a lot of dishes BUT I've tried many of the different offerings at Eggcetra (sweet and savory) and they have all been delicious - so really you can't go wrong! My faves are the ham eggs Benedict with the side of potatoes or the cinnamon bun waffle! The service is also great! Dined here twice for brunch with my boyfriend and both times it was very busy at 1pm -- highly recommend you use the Yelp app wait list, it saves you a lot of time. The restaurant is clean and bright inside, a nice environment to have a brunch. The first time I went I ordered the smoked salmon eggs benedict and found the fish flavour a bit overpowering for me. The second time I went, I decided to try the asparagus eggs benny instead and loved it way more. The portion is generous and super filling, I barely finish it all. The price is pretty average compared to other diners but you get good value for it. My boyfriend ordered the skillet both times we went- it's quite heavy in protein and potatoes in my opinion but he loves it. The staff is always friendly, welcoming, super quick to greet you and get your order and drinks. Highly recommend this place for a nice brunch/breakfast. read more

I would say the best breakfast place I have been to. The wait could be long specially on a weekend with a large group of people. However staff are friendly and service ia good. I love the huge amount of choices they have. From wraps, sandwiches, waffles to omelettes, benedicts and classic breakfast. Took us a while to decide what to order. At the end everyone were happy with what we had. I love the home fries and make sure to request to make it extra crispy. Oh wow! my first time to finish all my home fries. I ordered philly steak benedict and love it! Steak pieces were sliced thinly and cooked tender with the right amount of veggies topped on poached eggs which we requested to make it medium so it came out not too runny. A little hollandaise sauce on top makes it taste so good. I would highly recommend this place! read more
