My only wish is that they increase the bridge to 4 lanes but I don't want to pay any more than I am now so for now it'll stay as just a "wish."

I had a feeling when I made this appointment that it would take about an hour (as it was my initial appointment). It took two hours. I'm not complaining. The staff was kind and thorough. It's more of a heads up for those planning their first visit. Also on this visit, I went to have my VA ID card made. The office was empty and no one seemed to know where this person was or what I was talking about. They showed up a few minutes later. All in all, I look forward to my next visit.

I love their book and DVD selection. They also have a small video game section for Playstation 3 and Xbox games but it's really small. If you're studying for any of the local entrance exams they have a descent supply of reference books that you can check out and foreign language section right next to it. Plenty of computers to use if you need to go online, 10 page printing limit/per day, an outside patio area that's enclosed for anyone who wants to read outside, and some couches in the back by the magazine section lined with private study desks with outlets for computers/ipads. The staff is helpful and very friendly. They have free movie nights posted as well and story book time for pre-k, just check their calendar. They aren't opened FRIDAYS but you can use the atrium area to sit and wifi your laptop. Otherwise they're open Mon-Thur/Sat&Sun.

Interesting fact, the sand is that way from granite deposits that flow from North GA and beyond all the way down into the Gulf as silt. Because of the beaches, the area attracts more and more tourist every year and IMO is getting more luxurious as the years go by. I've noticed better restaurants, more aesthetically pleasing looking buildings and just a more upscale feel with each visit. I'm writing this here because I noticed many of the beaches along the 6 mile coast are PRIVATE. I'm not sure which beach to actually post this review but I find that simply horrible, ridiculous, backwards and restrictive! Who adds gates with Codes to a beach?!?! I can understand a handful of properties and major resorts but to secure majority of the coastline with Controlled Access? In my particular visit I stayed at a resort and had the codes for entry/exit but found many people having difficulty simply getting to the beach! I don't think they knew the beaches would have controlled Access! Even to exit, you need a code! That's shameful! It was frustrating to see people struggle with umbrellas/coolers and chairs only to have to find the Public Beach and have to walk back to their car. May I add the city also doesn't have any form of boardwalk to enjoy a long walk down the coast or some form of transportation to maneuver the public/private beaches! You're basically on your own! I'm curious Who/When/How that got approved because that's definitely some backwards N. Florida, My Property, ME, ME, ME planning! It isn't as large, bright, and airy as the Niceville branch, but it is well-staffed and well-stocked with selections. And it is local to us. Best of all, if something is at one of the sister branches, they'll have it transferred for us, which is always nice! I recently went in to the library to return some books, and came across the friendliest librarian I'd met at the Crestview branch in the three years I have lived here. I was in a hurry - my best friend was in the car with 10 children, waiting on me - but now I wish I had thought to get her name. Many of the other staff I have encountered here seem to be worn out, tired of dealing with people. That's not the attitude I want to encounter when I'm coming to find materials to promote relaxation and happiness for me, or education and learning in my daughter. We do love the story hour and arts/crafts mornings. My best friend's daycare looks forward to the days we promise to take them. The changes they made in the layout for the Teen section are nice - nothing overwhelming, but definitely more welcoming. All in all .. we appreciate the Library, the services they provide, and the people who continue to work hard to make it a great experience for everyone.
