She was fearful of the steep staircase at 1st- (she's afraid of heights), but once she got to the platform she chilled out. Our guide, Faith, was excellent. Cute gift shop. You can buy bags of mining rough in the shop to pan for precious stones and minerals at the outdoor sluice outside. You can pan for raw amethyst, rubies, Jasper, pyrite and arrowheads. We were the only ones that signed up for the earliest tour that day and were lucky to have a private tour. The tour has informative history about the caverns with landmarks along the way. The most interesting thing we didn't know about is they have caving adventure tours where you shimny through holes and narrow spaces with a guide but our kids aren't old enough to partake. This was the first show cave in California and townspeople lived in them during harsh winters in the 1800s. There was a bar inside and a church and nails were even given to people to carve on the walls. Because of this there are signs of harm everywhere with soot, broken formations, and dirty coloration from human hand oils and even champagne poured on a rock formation. The caverns are huge and beautiful with some jaw-dropoing rooms. The walking tour is very safe though we loved the slight danger and claustrophobic feel of the Mercer Caverns. When you leave the shop has some cool historical items pulled from the caves on display like glass bottles, etc .. that are worth checking out.

The walk to…read morethe cave is only about five minutes, but there's no shade so the earlier the better as the temps heat up. Inside the cave is about 50°. I have no issues with claustrophobia, but if you do there is one tight squeeze that might be a problem. Cash, my tour guide, turned off the lights (after asking my permission) and we experienced total darkness for maybe thirty seconds. It felt like two hours, and I hated it , but still neat and recommend trying if offered. Use the hand rails. They are there for your safety.

Truly one of those if only those walls could talk thoughts go through one's mind when strolling Main Street Locke. There's some sadness to see the dilapidated conditions of the structures here and I hope that these will be around for as long as possible. Ironically only 3 of the 70 residents there are of Chinese descent...they are also the ancestors of those who once occupied quarters in Locke during its hay day.

It's such a cool little town and honestly feels like stepping back in time…read more Walking down the street and seeing the original buildings, museums, and small shops makes you realize how much history is still preserved here. There's something really special about Locke. It hasn't lost its character and doesn't feel overly touristy. You can just walk around, read the historic markers, explore, and take everything in at your own pace. I think everyone should visit at least once, especially if you live nearby. It's an awesome way to learn about local history and experience a part of the Delta that still feels authentic and untouched. Definitely one of my favorite places to spend an afternoon.

We were able to go at our own pace without feeling the need to rush, so that was nice. As for the courses, they were okay. I wish they were more spaced out. At the end of each course and near the hole, there's a part where the barrier is low. Our balls kept going out and into the next course, which was a little annoying. In course 3, my cousin's ball got stuck in the castle/building prop. We were really confused when the ball didn't come out the other side, but we were able to find and take it out of the hole it was stuck in. Overall, we still had fun, but I don't know if I would come here again.

I sure hope they sanitize regularly. Might I even suggest hand sanitizer available and trash cans throughout the course. 2. The putting green where you place the ball at the start of each hole we're loose and spinning or completely detached on many of the holes. They have farm animals, a playground, lots of slides, a garden your kids can water, plenty of bench's, tables, water fountains. My daughter will be able to go here easily for the next five years. I would say this is age appropriate for toddlers. Would recommend coming here if you're thinking about it! It's in Land Park which is a huge park with ponds and lots of geese. There are two beautiful gardens walking distance too which is also a plus! The staff is really nice and friendly and it seems like everyone is happy to be there. I don't blame them! It's a feel good place!

( Regional Transit Light Rail Station) plus access to interstate 5. This 3.5 mile extension connects Franklin Boulevard to Freeport Boulevard. The land surrounding the extension encompasses a total of 800 acres where 1.3 million sq feet will be dedicated to commercial and retail businesses ( Delta Shores Power Center). The remaining land is where 5,200 residential units will be built. When all the construction is said and done, Cosumnes River Boulevard Extension will be one of the major fairway in South Sacramento. The original Rhoads School House was built in 1849 by James Sheldon. The school house was named…read moreafter James brother-in-law (John Pierce Rhoads) whom was one of the rescuers of the Donner Party. In 1872 the school had to be closed due to the fact that children were getting sick from malaria. The malaria was spread by mosquitoes from Cosumnes River. Shortly after a new school house was built on Sloughhouse Road and stayed open until 1949. The Elk Grove Historical Society completed the restoration of the school house in 1977 and moved it to the Elk Grove Regional Park. Today the school house serves as a meeting room for the historical society, a living history museum for school children where they can see and experience life in the 1800's. Such a good experience for myself and school age children to get a feel of what being a student…read moreback in the 1880's was like! Recently, I chaperoned a 3rd grade field trip to the Rhoad's School House and enjoyed most of the experience. I believe theres an organization who volunteers to do this experiment. Upon our arrival, we were given popular names from back in the 1880s. My name was Mistress Smith. The teacher gave an introduction and laid out the rules for the kids before starting. She did a great job acting out what it would be like back in the day; being stern with the kids especially. I don't want to explain too much of what actually happened because I want you to experience it for yourselves. Basically, it's in an actual school house that was restored by students with a lot of the original wood and studs. Throughout the classroom you'll find antiques and trinkets that may or may not have been found with the original school house, a fire place that we actually used for heat, some historical pics of the restoration, and so much more. The kids did activities like jacks, stilts and pen writing with a pen and feather. A huge con for me was I spent more time taking the kids to use the bathrooms across from the school house. There's not path either and the grass was wet so my shoes got dirty and I had to make sure my costume rental wouldn't get messed up. Overall, I enjoyed the experience but the kids not so much. I just don't think 3rd graders can appreciate the experience so maybe another year or so would've been a different story.
