Onward to the meat and potatoes of this review, sorry I mean Bangers and Mash. If you're looking to have a pint and a nice scene for it all. Well look no further. Bitter, Stout, Ciders, and the like are all on tap here. The variety is there as well because once a keg is tapped. It's on to the next of many a wonderful beer. If a pint isn't in order then have a scotch, gin, or something fancier. The Railway is a nice little pub, but it isn't just about the beer. Their menu is extensive as well, and during my many visits I was able to make my way through most. They have their version of many a classic English dish from the Gloucester Old Spot Sausage, Mash with local Greens all the way through to the Beer-Battered Fish, Pea Purée, Tartare Sauce and Chips. Most if not all of it was house made. Nothing from a box here and you could tell. As much as I was about the classics. I'd have to say it was The Railway Burger that was my constant. It was superb...served medium rare with greens, cheddar, and smoked bacon... and a horseradish sauce that just brought it all together. I'd be remiss if I ended my Yelp here, because it was the people of the Railway and the locals that made this place awesome. Jo and her staff were great hosts and always made us feel welcome. (Even when we came in overwhelming droves.) As did our friends that we made while enjoying some of the best that Fairford had to offer. As I stated at the beginning it was our go to for all things Fairford. They welcomed us and our ways, and in the end we did the same.

The Green Dragon Inn - I can only imagine how warm and comforting this would be when cold out!

The Green Dragon Inn is such a superior find! It's everything one would look for country quaint and…read more utterly comfortable rustic-ness. There is a restaurant and bar, with plenty of outdoor seating for people to enjoy when the weather is fine. By the amount of people that were here, we could tell that this is a very popular destination. There are two parts to the restaurant and bar. Both contain seating for dining and drinking, though breakfast was on the "bar" side. For dinner, we were seated in a beautiful curved and windowed dining area with plenty of sunshine and a beautiful view outdoors. Our service was attentive and friendly. For dinner, my husband had the sirloin steak. He said that it was delicious and tender. He really enjoyed the accompanying peppercorn sauce. I had the barbecued turkey. It had a tasty char on it, and it was very delicious with its umami and slightly sweet barbecue flavor. Potatoes, chips, and salads were sides. We were both full from our generous meals, but it's almost impossible to forgo a delicious dessert! I had spotted dick, which was warm, sweetly moist, and subtly spiced. My husband had sticky pudding with ice cream. Both desserts hit the spot! Breakfast is a combination of continental and menu items. We enjoyed our fresh ojs, coffees, and he his Full English while I relished avocado toast with poached eggs. Accommodations are behind the restaurant and pub. It's a two-story cozy building, with four rooms downstairs. We did not go upstairs, but there are rooms above, as well. Our room was very comfortable, with all the amenities that we would need. Our room, Midnight Court, has French doors that lead out into a patio with seating and a garden beyond. There is a farm store that sells coffees, teas, tasty treats, and a variety of unique gifts, souvenirs, as well as groceries. There is outdoor seating here, too. Parking is limited to overnighting guests, located between the restaurant and the accommodations. We could see additional parking located across the street for drop-ins. We felt very fortunate to find the Green Dragon Inn. It ticked off all of the boxes for these two American travelers looking for a quintessential inn stay.

We each selected from meat, fish and chicken dishes and they were all succulent and perfectly balanced. We ended the night and shared the lemon tart with lemon sorbet which had a lovely balance with the strawberry drizzle.
