I really enjoy this airport. I can't speak for every terminal, but I've visited for Southwest and more recently the American Airlines Terminal B. It was DENSE with shops and food. Clean, nice. Really helpful, friendly staff at the information booth and shops that I visited. I like the way you move around here. Arrivals up top, departures at the bottom, and then departure ground transportation divided between the an inner and outer ring for the various shuttles and bus services. (I had to ask to figure out where to stand, but I liked the layout once I got it.) And the SEPTA comes right up to the terminal. I've gone in and out of here a variety of ways and have been impressed in my experience with the ease for such a large airport. And yeah, plenty of places to eat and shop once you get inside.

Most people are in long sleeves, sweaters, and jackets. I've even seen a couple of folks without them rubbing their arms to generate warmth. I wondered if it was a fluke, and did a quick Google search where I found similar complaints. Then passing by a woman (in a jacket) she said to me (unsolicited) "it's so cold here." Funny enough I was filling my water bottle and guess what? The water was warm!!!! Anyway if you're leaving from, or have a layover at this airport, particularly in warmer months, BE PREPARED!!!

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel based on my experience, because my reservation was not honored. We booked this hotel weeks in advance, and when we arrived from the airport around 11:00 PM, we were told the hotel was overbooked and that no room was available for us. This was extremely upsetting and inconvenient, especially that late at night. What made the experience even worse was that we then had to find other accommodations on our own at that hour. Nearly every hotel in the area was fully booked. We had to call seven hotels before finally finding availability at La Quinta, which was not my first, second, or even last choice. After traveling, this created unnecessary stress and frustration. It was also clear that we were not the only guests affected. The front desk employee appeared overwhelmed and frustrated because multiple customers were being told there were no rooms available, even though they had already paid in full. That is unacceptable and reflects very poorly on the hotel's reservation process and customer service experience. Overall, this was a terrible experience. Booking in advance and paying in full should guarantee that a room is available upon arrival. I hope this issue is taken seriously so that other guests do not go through the same situation. Luckily our shuttle was right on time and we got dropped off at the hotel within 10 minutes. When we were waiting to check-in, there was no one at the front desk. The lobby also has no AC and I didn't get the best vibe from the place. Unfortunately, it is what it is since this was so last minute and we just needed a place for a few hours until our flight the next morning. After 5 minutes or so, someone finally shows up and we were on our way to our room. The room itself is pretty standard, clean and well kept. It's a decent stay, but I wouldn't have chose to stay here for the price if I had a choice. Also, weird that I booked on Roomstorm for $196.67 but my receipt from Aloft shows $173.07. Did I get scammed somewhere?

A Quaker owned retreat center outside of Philly …read more.. I came for a holistic nurses retreat for a four day session- also slept here for 3 nights. Our conference meeting center was at Brinton house - on one side of the campus. I also stayed overnight in Britton House as well . Some others stayed at Firbank on the other side of the campus near the main house Main house is where the meals are served There is a path that circles around the campus approximately a mile around that is nice to take . You can see key features like the Beech Tree, a tower, organic garden, wetlands etc Lots of lovely flowers , tree species and insects to see - like bees and butterflies. This place is great if you are into biology and studying trees etc . It's a nice retreat place . Quiet , peaceful and delicious organic food There are no TVs which is nice to detox . There is WiFi if you need to connect but I did a social media detox while I was there It is a scent free facility as well - no candles , perfumes , sprays etc Rooms or dorm style or you have a private room. Rooms are rustic and no frills but clean. They provide linens and towels . Pillows were very flat and bed can be at times uncomfortable. Yoga and stretching helped me . Although I liked my shared room with a private bathroom - the wood floor was noisy - made noise with every step. I saw others with carpet floor . But I liked the view from my room and the desk inside was nice. Meals were at set times Breakfast 730-830 Lunch 12-1pm Dinner 6-7pm They had chicken/poultry/ fish option as well As vegetarian and vegan and gluten free options Bug spray is needed for walks especially in summer - hot and humid days . They have an art room with small donations if you use the space There is a library but I didn't go They have an organic Garden and a small grass labyrinth I liked the wetland pond area near Brinton house - so pretty . The path is a wood chipped path for most of the path- some of it is gravel. Insanely long version: Last month, after wrapping up a few very stressful months on a difficult job, I was at a sort of crossroads in my life. I was looking for somewhere to go where I could clear my head, relax, and spend a few days living simply and reflecting on what was really important to me. Some people might go camping at a time like this, but I don't have a tent or a sleeping bag, and it's cold out, and long periods of solitude don't really agree with me. Also I'm small and clumsy, and could not likely defend myself effectively against a bear. What to do? Somewhere in the back of my mind I remembered hearing about Pendle Hill. It's a Quaker retreat and study center, so I must have heard of it at some point while at my Quaker school. I looked at their website and decided to check it out for a couple of days-- not a huge investment at $75 a night. My two-night stay turned into a six-night stay, which turned into a decision to live at Pendle Hill for a ten-week term as a student. I am head-over-heels in love with this place. You might not have the time or the inclination to spend ten weeks there, but below is a list of reasons why you should come check it out for a day or two. (They also have all sorts of cool weekend workshops on topics related to mindfulness, social justice, racism, peace, etc., which would be an ideal way to become acquainted with Pendle Hill.) -The food. Maybe I shouldn't start with that, but this is Yelp, after all. And it's SO GOOD. There's an organic garden and a whole bunch of chickens on the grounds, and everything is as fresh as can be. They even make the bread from scratch. I was asked when I made my initial reservation whether I had any dietary restrictions, and when I arrived at dinner the chef introduced himself and showed me which items were dairy-, egg-, fish-, and wheat-free. -The people. The people and the food are linked closely in my mind, because mealtimes are a warm, communal affair. You serve yourself and then sit with others at one of a few little tables. Everyone there is incredibly nice to newcomers. I walked in to dinner with that anxious new-kid-in-the-school-cafeteria feeling, and walked out having made four or five cool new friends (ranging in age between about 25 and 75) who made me feel right at home. (I need a lot of human interaction to keep me happy, but it's just as easy to have a more solitary experience there if that's your thing.) -The art studio. It's so cool. It's open 24 hours a day, during some of which it is flooded with sunlight, and you can just go in and play! Or you can take one of their art classes. They've got all the tools and supplies you could imagine for drawing, painting, sketching, calligraphy, sewing, quilting, knitting, book-binding, pottery, and weaving, and I'm sure I've left out a bunch of things. There's also a wood shop that I hear is great, but my dust allergies kept me out of there. -The grounds. The campus is beautiful-- old stone buildings, a lovely path through the woods, the aforementioned organic garden, and all sorts of little quiet places to think-- wooden tucked away behind a stand of trees and the like. -The library and the bookstore (see my review of the latter). Tons of books, on Quakerism of course, but also on Buddhism, Judaism, Islam, and other religions; nature and ecology; social justice and activism; history; psychology; and on and on but this review is already way too long. The library is a beautiful place to sit and read or write. -The values. I'm almost hesitant sometimes to use the word "values" because it has been so coopted by the religious right, but I won't cede it to them. Quakers believe in simplicity, peace, and tolerance, among other things. You will find Jews, Catholics, Muslims, and Buddhists there; people of all sexual orientations; people who speak all different languages. Writers, readers, artists, musicians, social workers, activists, students, and people trying to figure out who and what they are, rake leaves and scrub pots together to keep the community running. Upon rereading this, I realize I might have made it-- and me-- sound rather cultish. It's not, and I'm not; I'm just still really excited. Come visit for a weekend to write or read or think or walk or be, and see for yourself.

If there was a way to give a straight zero I would. I have been so appalled by an individual and the service they provided. I question does he do this to all his clients or certain groups of people. I've been on the fence about writing this review as I see the owner/manager replies to bad reviews…read moreand I truly don't want to engage him, but want others to know the poor experience we had to help others. As was the case with countless others, I had a November 2020 wedding scheduled that was impacted by the pandemic lockdown. That's not anyone's fault. However. The client service from the manager/owner John is abhorrent. (The event coordinators are kind and very responsive.) We'd made deposits, and were scheduled to make another -- literally, I had optimistically send out save the dates -- but the city still had restrictions on how many people could gather in the space. My contract was for 130 people. When I reached out to Arts Ballroom to discuss the way forward, thinking that they MUST have some kind of action plan about how they were going to move forward with existing contracts and triage, there was nothing. No plan. No mitigation strategy. No flexibility to bump the date. Just an expectation of payment for my contracted amount. We asked to move the date to 2021. John told us no, because our Nov. 2020 date would be considered lost revenue because it's a date he could've sold to someone else. This was illogical -- if the city wouldn't let us gather in 2020, he wouldn't have been able to sell the date to ANYONE. That was the whole point -- we were trying to get ahead of what was very obviously inevitable: we weren't going to be able to host anything in 2020, and rather than proceed as planned -- spending all kinds of money on vendors and invitations, only for Arts Ballroom to call us THIRTY DAYS BEFORE to reschedule (yes, they were only alerting to reschedule 30 days out) we wanted to be proactive and get ahead of it. For those keeping score at home: you send wedding invitations 6 to 8 weeks out. Make it make sense. We even offered extra money to move the date for for peace of mind -- our primary concern was exposure to people who were at risk -- no dice. No dice and no action plan. But he did ask us if we wanted to just buy a new 2021 date! Ha. He then cockily talked through *his* obligations to the bank which -- I'm sorry, but I'm a paying customer. His business dealings are not my business--apply for small business pandemic support or something. His responsibility is to his customers, but I guess not. It's also telling that his business had no cash reserves so he had to hold folks' feet to the fire this way. Needless to say, we canceled and lost a significant deposit. In hindsight, it was a small price to pay to not have to work with his clueless arrogance. (He was very confident, despite saying he didn't watch the news, that the pandemic would clear up by our date.) I was walking a dog with a friend this weekend, and happened in front of the venue where I saw someone casually smoking crack on the corner across the street. I chuckled and took it as a sign.
