The owners themselves and the employees weren't on the same page about what was communicated to me. I will say they were never disrespectful. The only reason positive reasons they got 3 stars is the space is decent and the main employee I dealt with (younger and light skinned) made things happen and picked up the pieces after the miscommunications. All in all the event went well but I'm glad the young lady was there to make things happen. Details: There were multiple points of miscommunication or misinformation between owners and it was clear they weren't on the same page. We were literally told one thing from someone then told the total opposite from another employee/owner. Early on the miscommunication was things I could get over or work through. For example, I called on a Thursday to come and get measurements of the space since they weren't on the website. I was told I had to set the appointment a day in advance but not on a Friday thru Sundays. That's strange because the first time I ever saw the venue with the mom to be was on a Saturday. Another time I came by to test my potential layout. I called the day before I wanted to come by but was then told I couldn't come see the space later than 4p on weekdays. The person then offered for me to come see it the next day, a Friday (which I was previously told I couldn't). I didn't rebut and chose a different day. Another example of misinformation/miscommunication was when we first booked, we were told we could move anything in the room around as long as it stayed in the room. Then upon submitting our custom layout through their portal (which was convenient to input information) we received feedback through email that we couldn't move the blue captains chairs that are near the couch as shown on our layout. Looking beyond the pettiness of telling us we couldn't move chairs, we pressed on. Upon arriving the day of the shower, we were told by employee that we never sent our layout so they didn't have tables set up. So that same layout they commented on, you didn't receive? I restrained myself from getting angry and focused on bringing the rest of our decor inside while they set up the room. Luckily I had a printed copy of the layout to provide. And as per usual the young lady who had been there many times before simply put the set up and made it happen. They also disinfected the tables, which I appreciated that. However, it shouldn't have been an issue if the employees and owners were on the same page. The only other thing I didn't care for was how certain items in the room could not be taken out which made it difficult planning the layout. However, we made it work. The space is definitely set up more for meeting space vice a party in my opinion, especially with Covid and needed to space people out. The space was nicely decorated and I was glad they included tables in the rentals. Our event went off that day without any other issues. The young lady also gave us a few extra minutes to clear the room, which I appreciated. The room was pretty hot since it was about 70 degrees outside. We ended up bringing in fans last minute since the air wasn't cooling off the room with the 25 or so people that were in there. If I wasn't on a time crunch to pick a location that was decent looking and decently priced, I would have found a different venue after the first miscommunication I noticed between the owners (that I did not mention). However, we got the basics of what we wanted but it definitely really frustrating at times.

I was granted access prior, to my event and afterwards for clean up and breakdown. Bathrooms were with stalls and a separate one, if needed. Complete with kitchen capabilities with stove, sink, fridge and microwave. Also included amenities were, microphone, podium, stage, and sound system with surround sound. This location can be used for any event and the owner was more than accommodating and willing to listen to my needs and assist! Only note I can pass is, pay close attention to the address, that block has several "5701". There's an A, B and C and located on main sidewalk. The first door of the building (A), then a tobacco store (B) and then another unit in the parking lot (C).

So I went up the street to get gas came back within the 10 mins she still was not there. So now it's almost 11:30 I'm reached out again to get an ETA and she says tho the person that was coming to do the walk through (which I thought it was her the owner) she then says they got locked out and cannot get access to the key. I said ok I've sat here almost 30 minutes and if I hadn't reached out to you when were you going to communicate that to me. Mind you she never called me I kept calling her. Long story short I just ended up leaving of which I told her I was going to leave after waiting almost 45 mins of which she still didn't show up within the time frame she indicated. What a lack of communication and customer service.

Making comments like I wish these ppl would just hurry up and get the f out, or I bet you if I start snatching up tables they will get it. All before the actual end time is wildly unprofessional. So for me as a guest to notice, I can only imagine the host. It appears this establishment books events fairly close with no buffer between one event ending and another one needing to prep. I hope no one else has this experience because we love to support women owned and black owned businesses, but this isn't one I would recommend based on this encounter.

I chose this space for my baby shower because I loved the blank canvas aesthetic. At the time I was booking, they were running to specials, a $200 new customer discount and an end of the year special. The End of the Year special was a better deal, so I inquired with the owner if I could use that even though my event was in February. The owner declined (which was completely fine), but offered a $300 if I booked the same day after my tour...which I did. In hindsight, there were red flags I should have paid more attention to when booking. During the tour of the venue we saw a bug on the floor and the chairs looked dirty. I brushed it off as a one-time issue. Unfortunately, that just foreshadowed my experience that was to come. When we arrived at our contracted time of 9:00AM on the day of the shower, the venue smelled like bleach, yet was still dirty from the night before. My family spent a SIGNIFICANT amount of time cleaning tables and chairs before they could even start setting up. Several chairs were also damaged upon my family's arrival -- something the owner tried to blame on my family at the end of the event. We also experienced electrical issues with this venue. My DJ arrived around 12PM noon to begin her set up and we learned shortly after that all the outlets on one side of the venue did not work. After spending a large amount of time trying to troubleshoot, I had to call the owner TWICE to ask her to come troubleshoot. She arrived just before 1PM to start troubleshooting while guests were already arriving. This further delayed the start of my event. Although the venue advertises it can hold over 100 people, we had approximately 80 guests and the space felt very crowded and hot. At one point, my husband had to ask the owner -- who was sitting in her car outside the venue -- to turn off the heat completely because of how uncomfortable both myself and my guests were. This was in February on a day it was snowing -- it was so hot we did not want heat in the middle of winter. When we brought our concerns to the owners, they became argumentative and placed blame on us rather than taking accountability. She offered NO meaningful resolution. When I requested a $200 refund due to the multiple issues (less than one hour of the rental rate) the owner refused, said I shouldn't get anything since she already gave me a $300 discount when booking, and finally offered a mere $50. As a new business, customer service and accountability are critical. While the venue photographed beautifully, the lack of professionalism, cleanliness, and lack of support on the day of my event left a lasting negative impression.

It sits off the street with minimal lighting at the entrance so I initially drove past it. Once inside, I was really impressed with how the organizers transformed the space. It's really flexible & perfect for small to medium sized events. It's literally a blank slate awaiting your creative vision. You can comfortably seat roughly 100 guests. Free parking is available onsite and there are a couple outdoor areas available for ceremonies as well. Finally, the cost is reasonable. The only that was not spiced up was the fried chicken but that could have been for people that could not handle alot of spice and flavor. This place can literally used for anything from family get together, parties, club nights, but for us it was used to hold our repass. The owners were extraordinary people and we were thankful to be able to use there space for our event. If you are looking for a great location venue give this place a look. You'll be glad you did.
