The inside looks like a typical salon. I've only been here a couple of times but so far I've had great experiences. I came in for Mary. She's been cutting my boyfriend's hair for 13+ years and I decided to come to her too because her prices are pretty reasonable and she does a great job. My boyfriend will pay $15 for a fade and trim on top, and I paid $25 for a trim and layers on long hair. If you come, ask for Mary! read more

I love coming to Eklips because they have very reasonable prices, and I always get a good quality haircut. I asked for a long A-line/bob (I'm not exactly sure the difference haha) and it was $14 before tip. See my photo for the most recent price list as of June 2020. Anyway, I've had my hair cut by Mary before, and she's really friendly and has always done a great job. Today I got my hair cut by Kim, and I'm also very happy by her work. She makes sure she understands what you want before she commits to making the cut, and periodically shows you how she's cutting your hair to make sure it's exactly how you'd like it to be. While they would prefer people to make appointments instead of dropping in, feel free to ask if they are available to give you a haircut. I wasn't sure if they were open, so I stopped by, and saw the signs out front that said to make an appointment. Since they didn't appear busy, I just asked if I had to make an appointment, and they were happy to accommodate since they didn't have clients there already. My child had her haircut here and she came home crying. She was hyperventilating and very upset about the way they did her hair and a hairdresser that worked there made rude comments about her hair. She asked why does my daughter have curly hair. The reason why she has curly hair is because she was born that way. I had to calm my daughter down for a while because she couldn't speak to me about what happened to her and how she was treated until she calmed down. I can't believe an adult who is suppose to cut hair and make people feel good about their hair mentally abused my child and made her feel that something is wrong with the way in which her hair is that she was born with. I'm very upset and sad for my child and how this racist lady made my child feel about her hair. It's unacceptable and mean spirited. I don't understand why an adult would make rude comments about my child's hair when she's young and impressionable. I wish I could find out who the person was that made that comment about my child's hair! Do not go to this place because they don't know how to treat people with respect and make rude comments about children. I wish I could take my child's pain away for how they made her feel. read more

I've been to this place over the years for Bob cuts for my daughter's and usually good turn out. Never really had a cut done by Mary until today. I showed her a picture of a simple Bob cut (shoulder length), and she totally butchered it. She went hella short and looked nothing like the picture. I told her I didn't want it that short (right under my ears). My seat was super low, I couldn't even tell how she was cutting my hair through the mirror. I could tell she knew she messed up but kept insisting that it's as short as the picture. I don't plan to return there anymore. Not recommended but at your own risk. read more

I didn't want to make this review since I felt like there was no need. But i'm super disappointed, I went it to get just a v-cut with long layers. I told her to not cut my hair that short. I walk out with two inch shorter hair and choppy short layers. She also asked me if I wanted my bangs cut. I told her no exactly and she starts cutting half of it off. I've had my kids get their hair cut by the other ladies there, but they're not as good as Trina. Services I've received: highlights, lowlights, haircuts, styling. The kids and hubby have gotten haircuts here, too. Service: Trina has a bright smile and always greets her customers. She takes the time to ask about how you're doing and converses just enough--she knows when the customers want to talk and when they just want to get a hair cut. She is also very accommodating and flexible with appointments. Highlights: I've gotten my hair done at fancy places in San Francisco, Seattle, etc. For half the price, Trina does a better job. She is such a perfectionist that even if it doesn't bug me because a strand is a little off, it'll bug her! Haircuts: You know how you dread going to a new place because you're not sure if it's going to be okay. Well, from the very first time I got my haircut there, Trina gave me the best haircut ever. She cut it just the way I wanted and gave me suggestions to make the cut more flattering for my features! Do not go here!!!!! I asked all 3 women Mery, May, older woman several times today could they imitate the picture shown to her. ALL 3 said yes she can do it, the older lady completely butchered my daughters hair!!! Her hair was almost waist length and was converting into a sheek bob. I cannot explain my frustrations and anger with them. And then tried to cover up for her (because she does not speak great English) that she misinterpreted what the picture was an offered to have him fix my daughters hair and a later date. Which mind you does nothing for how she butchered her hair!!!!! She will NEVER Go back here again!!!!!!! I really have to give this place 5 stars and they deserve each one! Where else can you find great service, perfect haircuts, clean location, and unbeatable prices?!? Trina is the head of the house, she's always quick to greet me with a big smile and asks about my day, school, work and etc. She makes the whole entire experience fun and quick. Trina usually always has good suggestions for me and she makes me feel comfortable. You'd be glad to become a regular here, try it out and you'll feel the same. It might sound corny, but I think I just got the best haircut for life the other night. It was Saturday and I was running late to meet up for a birthday... it was like a panic frenzy and last minute hair emergency. I couldn't go out looking like a porcupine and needed a cut baddddddd!!! It was alright 7:30pm and they closed at 6:00pm... Right when I pulled up, I saw her just finish sweeping and turned off all the lights. Mary is my go-to at this salon for a couple of years now. She's always willing to listen to how you want your hair to look and gives suggestions when you are not sure. I'm never disappointed, as she cuts my hair exactly as I ask for to be cut. She's so nice and willing to go the extra mile for her clients, which I highly appreciate. I recently got a balayage ombré for the first time with her and she was so patient and thorough with the process. For the amount of work she put into it, along with the tips and advice afterwards, the price cannot be beat. This salon is the best kept secret in Sacramento. I have very long very thick hair and this was the least expensive.... and BEST hair cut I've EVER had! The lady was precise with my cut and was quick too! (love it) and then she took her time and straightened it, I was blown away, I haven't received this treatment when I've paid over $100 for a hair cut WTF! The only thing is to make sure to leave a good tip! I think most people tip based on the "$7" payment and not on the quality of the cut. read more

Clean area, lots of space, and cheap haircuts. I'm a fan. I had gone to another haircut place where their haircuts are $6 since forever, but I decided to try this place. Got a better haircut with more attention to detail than the last place. All for only $7, as it was certainly higher quality than my last place. The only thing is, that I didn't get the infamous Trina -- I assume that's the owner. I got one of the other workers, and she didn't speak English all that well and looked really disengaged while cutting my hair. Remind me not to trust on yelp ratings alone. I found this place had a good rating so i decided to try it out, what turns out is one of the most perplexing haircut experiences ive ever had. So i gave the stylist the exact specifications. I told her how i wanted my hair to be cut which was not too short. Interestingly when i told the stylist these things, she looked unsure of what to do. I disregarded it and just let her do her thing. In the end the stylist just basically gave me a super short haircut which was far from what i wanted. Its almost as if they dont know how to do a different haircut other than the one shown in the picture. If you want a haircut just like the picture then go here. If you want ANY OTHER haircut then go somewhere else because no matter what you say they will give you the EXACT same haircut anyways. Im not even kidding its kind of hilarious. read more

This review isn't for Eklips, this review is for Mary which is my go to hair stylist. I've been searching for someone to really cut my hair a specific way because my weird head shape. She's so good that I actually don't mind the 35 minute drive. Mary seems to be the most popular stylist because everyone request her and I always see her busy. The reason why she stands out is because she cuts my hair quick but she's very precise and purposeful. I always get a comb over and sometimes ask for a line up. Shes pretty well rounded in her fades and razor cuts . Definitely recommended 5/5 stars ! read more

This one star is for the lady who cut my hair. WOW. I told her I wanted a trim and she gave me advice on what would be better so she starts trimming my layers. I didn't like where it was going so I told her that I'd really like to shorten my hair length. She immediately goes, okay I'm not going to argue with you. Very new to the Sac / Elk Grove area. Was looking for a barber shop that was close to me. I wasnt impressed with some of the reviews from the places that were very close to me, but this place was about 4 miles away and the reviews were pretty good, so I decided to give this place a try. Came in on a Thursday and there was pretty much no wait at all. Not sure what the name of the lady that cut my hair was, it started with a T. Not sure if it was Trinh or Theresa, she's on the far end right in front of the tv on the wall. After coming here once, she actually got my fade right on! Most places I go to, even though I specifically say "low" or "medium low", for whatever reason they go up really high! Argh! But this lady actually knew how I wanted it! Kudos!! Price was just 8$ too! Plus tip, which I do not mind at all if she gets it right! I will designate this as my #1 choice for my haircuts which will be pretty good business for them considering I get my fade once a week to every 10 days. read more

Not sure if they were waiting for their appts but they basically woke up the employee that was in a nice nap. Didn't want her to do my hair since she she screwed up my hair both times. Walked in with the goal of an A-line haircut for my younger sister. Walked out with a layered, framed around the face haircut for me and an A-line for the sis. Teresa was super nice and recommended styles and more layers for a fuller volume look for my big head. Wonderful service. It was totally worth the drive from North Sacramento. I don't understand how people give this place a 3 or 4 star yet alone 5 stars. The 4-5 star ratings must be friends or relatives because me and my kids go there and we get our hair butchered every time. It's my stupid fault for returning there. I thought I would give this place a second chance, third chance but never again. Watch out for the old lady who cut nearest to tv, she doesn't listen. I asked for a fade and she cut a bowl, I ask to cut short and she literally does her own thing and even debate with me. She takes half an hour or longer to cut a man/kids fade. Both my wife and I ONLY use Eklips for our hair management. We also only use Mary to do our hair, because she is good and she cares (not that the others don't). And Mary deserves 10 stars (**********) for being sure our hair is done to our liking and taking the necessary time to be sure to please us both.. Eklips really disappointed today. The stylists are so rushed they are not cleaning up after themselves or following good hygiene. Usually they are very good for their low price, but today I felt the need to just stop my haircut before it started. The lady tried to sit me in a chair full of the previous customers hair. She didn't even notice when I pointed it out. She then told me she would clean up after she cut my hair. I obviously must have looked displeased be cause she went and got a broom to sweep up the hair from all 4 stations in use. My only regret is letting my son go first and him being half way through his haircut when we both should have gotten up and left. Not sure I will give them another chance any time soon. read more

I came in to try something a faux hawk. I told the hairstylist that I wanted a mid-fade with the haircut. She nodded ok and proceeded to do what she wanted to do, which was fade it at the top of my head. Even the fade was horrible and asymmetric. Not only that, but the "faux hawk" looked more like a W because of the weird way she cut my hair. I ended up going home and just trimming the top myself. Needless to say, I will not be going here again. I guess I should have expected this from a place that was almost void of business and where almost no one spoke english. read more
