Great haircut for a great price. This isn't the salon that offers you a mimosa and snacks, but they get the job done right at a great cost! I called Friday for two Saturday haircut appointments and they scheduled me right away. I don't think they have a website or socials so just give them a call to schedule. We showed up and waited a couple minutes for them to finish their previous appointments, it was really busy! There's about 6 chairs for those to wait in, and 6 stations where they were cutting hair. I was seated with Angie, showed her an inspo picture and she gave me exactly what I wanted, a trim and quick style. After seeing the final results, due to my hair type she recommended trying a new style/cut and I was in the mood to try something new so she went out of her way to re-cut and style my hair. She showed me two styling options and was very patient even though she basically had to redo my hair. She said they also do pre-event styling so if you have an event where you want your hair to look a little nicer, you can schedule with them starting at $45+. But I left feeling confident and ready to go out even just with the cut I received In total we paid $65 for two haircuts (no washing, just trim and styling) which is a steal in my opinion! You don't know how happy I was to finally schedule a haircut appointment after being fully vaccinated (my hair was heading towards hip-length, eep). I scheduled for Angie as she seems to be one of the more popular hairdressers here (at least the most name-dropped). She's definitely a popular choice because on my appointment date she was 1 hour behind schedule. She was very apologetic though and despite the slight inconvenience (good thing I didn't have anything planned right after the appointment) I was impressed on how thorough she still was throughout my appointment. For example, I've never had such a long shampooing session at a salon before this time; I almost fell asleep with all of the complimentary head massaging. Anyway, as for my haircut I asked for a cut of several inches as well as some re-layering. My end-result hair looked fine at the salon when my hair was fully straightened. However, my hair is naturally wavy (she noticed this as well after my hair dried at the salon) and after a hair wash and hair air-drying at home, I noticed some parts of my hair with unnaturally-looking blunt ends. They're not too noticeable from afar and I'm just hoping that they will be less prevalent as my hair re-grows. Never had this issue from previous hair dressers I've had also for hair re-layering. Overall, Angie is a very sweet, patient lady but can be a bit prone to overbooking appointments. Also, would recommend showing her a photo of the haircut that you want for safe measure. read more

Located in a plaza called Founders Landing on Whitelock and Atkins. Women's hair cut $30 I made an appointment for a trim. The salon is no frills, standard strip mall type of place.. No shampoo.. i sat in the designated chair and told my stylist what I wanted and she got to work. No small talk and I like that. I didn't even get her name. She flat ironed my hair and cut in sections with the occasional spray of water. They didn't have a receptionist so every time the phone rang my stylist or the other would leave their client to answer the phone. I knew that I made an excellent choice when I found Angie! She listens carefully to my wants and needs. Sometimes, she also gives kind suggestions of what she thinks would suit better for my hair type etc. I am so glad that I've given her suggestions a try! Lately, my hair has been very dry due to the hard water at my house. I tried a hot oil treatment and now my hair is moisturized, bouncy, and silky! I found out recently that there are bundle deals. It will depend on the thickness and length of your hair. My hair is a little longer than my shoulders and it's not too thick. A hot oils treatment costs $50 for me. Also, a regular hair cut usually cost $20 for my hair length. With the bundle deal, a hot oil treatment was $50 and my hair cut was DISCOUNTED to only $10! YAAAAYYYYYY to saving $10! They do offer Japanese Hair Straightening services here and I am not disappointed! For curly haired ladies like me, I have to flat iron my hair everyday but even though I know this treatment can damage hair, it saves me sooo much time to get ready. I love the feeling of it drying straight after the shower and also not to even worry about my hair curling up in all sorts of directions after a sweaty run or a workout at the gym! The stylist here at Modern Beauty did a very good job with the process. It takes about 3 hours, so plan ahead if you're thinking about getting it done. She thoroughly washed my hair before applying the solution. After it settled in for several minutes, she washed it out, blow dried it and carefully straightened every single section of hair. After that a neutralizer is applied and rinsed out. The cost of the procedure to get it done here is so much lower than expected; it was very well worth it. The aftercare must be followed to get the best results. Avoid getting your hair wet for the first 3 days and don't use any kind of hair accessory, ties or even tucking hair behind the ear. You will also notice the smell of the chemical in your hair, but it really isn't that bad. I had this done before somewhere else and remembered the horrible smell for the first week. But the smell is not too noticeable now and doesn't bother me. So highly recommend to get it done here. read more

I'm really happy the result plus alot of people telling me it looks nice. A day after the treatment I felt stinging & itchiness behind my neck ( picture uploaded). I do research the procedure/process for permanent curl & I was ... she did not apply lotion in my skin! She just rolled up a towel over plastic around my neck before she start. Worst hair experience of my life! If I could give negative stars than I would! I called for an appointment about a month ago about getting a wavy perm and the ladies were able to get me in right away. While I was getting my hair done by Wendy she constantly seemed skeptical and that made me nervous. I asked her on several accounts of my hair would be okay, if it would be able to sustain the damage and if it would turn out right. Wendy said it was okay but there were several occasions where she touched my hair and started saying things in Vietnamese and her coworkers would butt in and speak as well. In the end, my hair didn't turn out how I wanted. It was barely wavy, beyond nappy, damaged beyond repair, the texture was completely off and my hair color was like 3 different shades!!! Wendy did not apologize at all, she consistently said it was damaged from the perm but didn't offer to help me fix it or anything. When it came time to pay she didn't apologize or recognize my unhapppiness. She took my card, ran it through and watched me walk out the door. I was so infuriated I walked back in and demanded a refund because my hair was disgusting. The owner, Jenny, claimed that my hair was damaged before the perm which is not true because I even asked Wendy and she said it was fine. I saw my hairstylist after the perm and she even stated that my hair wasn't damaged when I went to see her back in May. Anyways, I got my refund and will never return. read more

Second time coming here & I think this will be the only place I go to from now on. I went in for a trim and some layers. I think her name was Fran or Frany I didn't quite catch it. She started off by flat ironing sections of my hair and proceeded the dry cut. I really like the fact that she only cut 3 inches like I asked since I didn't want it to be too short. I was very disappointed in my haircut. I went in for a layer. The girl who helped me did not listen well. They think they know everything. They think they understand what you want. I even show her a picture and it's no where near the picture. I don't know if language is a barrier or plain stubborn because they think they know their job As a stylist. She ended up chopping up my hair, thinning it, making it shorter instead of layering it to make it look full! That's the purpose of a layer if you know how to do it right! I was very very very disappointed when I saw more hair on the ground than on my head!!!! I just wanted to cried! Never will I go back or recommend future friends and families! Beware customers! I've been going to Jenny for years for my haircuts. It's pretty close to me, so it's convenient. But, I like how Jenny cuts my hair cause she listens. She does exactly how you tell her to do it. She only uses scissors which I like. I don't like when people start using the razor thing and starts chopping off all your hair (I had bad experiences). Tried to find a place that wasn't charging $70 for a haircut. I just don't value haircuts that much to spend that much money. This place had great reviews so I called the day before and was able to get in the next day. Wendy was great. Started off with a shampoo and condition. I can honestly say that was the best scalp massage and wash I've ever had. She took her time and really washed my hair. Then she blew dried and flat ironed my hair before cutting. Came here from the Bay Area due to many family members recommendation. l left severely disappointed and almost in tears. I had been here once before and Ping did a great job, she's wasn't here this time so I decided to let another lady cut my hair. Unfortunately that was a big mistake! All I wanted was a simple two inch trim. At first, she did exactly as I asked except my hair looked no different than when I first walked in. So, I asked her to cut just a little bit more and give me long layers so you could actually tell I got a hair cut. However! She cut off way more than that, almost 6 inches, and was going to send me away without styling my hair or making it look somewhat nice. Paid additional for style even though the she rushed flat ironing my hair and didn't even use any styling products to set it. My cousin ended up restyling and fixing my hair for me after I left the salon. I used to have very long curly hair that was easy to manage. I could get out of the shower and let it style itself naturally. Now it's so short, I can't do anything with it or even put it in a braid. I didn't want all of my hair chopped off. After moving away for a year, I couldn't find anyone in the South Bay I liked and therefore decided to make the drive up to Sacramento to see Jenny. As always, she delivered! Jenny's attention to detail is impeccable as she remembered the texture, my color, and exactly how I like it styled. She always makes good suggestions and runs it with you before doing anything. I also overheard a lot of phone calls from customers and everyone who works there exhibits great customer service along with great organization. They're able to calculate and coordinate together quickly when there is a walk in. I have been wanting to lighten my hair to a medium brown for a while but never worked up the courage....nor was I looking for anything I needed to keep up with and maintain. Last week I decided it was time. I've heard about this salon from a friend who was pleased with her haircut here a couple of weeks ago, and I also happen to drive by the salon every day. I made a phone call to ask a few questions and before I knew it I had an appointment scheduled in 30 minutes. I remained on the fence about actually going through with it all the way up until she actually started preparing and mixing the hair color. Terrie was very informative. She gave me some tips and after examining my hair she informed me that the color I chose would definitely show up on my hair. She supported my color choice and showed me that it was one of two popular choices recently. She made sure I was always comfortable, if the dye was getting too cold or hair getting too heavy, if I could see the television screen enough, and so on. We talked occasionally and she asked me about school and work, but what I liked most was she was both personable but also didn't talk the entire time leaving me to watch TV or check my phone in peace. Most importantly she seemed genuine the entire time and always explained everything she was going to do next. She originally estimated about an hour and a half and I was done within an hour and 45... most likely due to my thick hair.
