I found this spot when looking for a place that served paella in Seville. It's centrally located on a busy corner with outdoor tables to people watch. You'll also end up encountering random people trying to sell you things though. This restaurant is one of the nicer ones for a sit down meal. To start, we had some complimentary olives and bread (€1.20), which is automatic. For a starter, we had the Toast with Iberian Ham (€12.70 but they charged €14). This was just okay to me, very basic. For the entrees, we had the Black Seafood Paella (€34 for 2 servings) and Grilled Beef Tenderloin Steak (€19 but they charged €25). We paired the meal with a bottle of red wine (€18). The food is solid, but appalled to realize afterward that they overcharged us for the meal blindly. It seems kind of sketchy that they did this, so be careful checking your receipt when paying. read more

Going to places based on reviews in Seville is useless because Taco bell has over 3k reviews where as some great gems have maybe 20 , so me and the hubby decided to just wing it and pick a restaurant based on what looked good on the way .I saw this restaurant and immediately felt like this could be a good spot ,first of the menu is very seafood focused which is an immediate pull for me , second it had a very old world charm (we later found out that they had been open since 1917) and then the crowds. We were seated after a small wait and as is the norm you get the pan (I don't think you can say no to that , its just added in the bill anyhow ). We got - Iberian pork with goat cheese and Sautee vegetable Squid meatballs -comes with potatoes I got my favorite Tempranillo and the hubby ordered the server`s recommendation of Vermouth. The restaurants down this strip are touristy. But we were so hungry and hot we wanted to sit inside and eat. The pork cheeks and steak were good. The bread was prepackaged in plastic so not fresh at all. The lobster rice was not- they had broke up the lobster and small shells were all in the rice making it difficult to eat. We wanted to have some paella after visiting the Alcazar and we need to be close by since our next stop was the Cathedral. The food here is good and service is good as well. We ordered: -Grilled octopus Galician style - very good. The octopus was tender and tasty (4 stars) -Homemade Croquettes - very good and I like the potatoes that came with it too. (4 stars) -Seafood Paella - rice was done right, flavourful and generous seafood. (4 stars) -Sangria - not the best that I have but not the worst. We spent our last night in Seville on the hunt for some pan-served paella. We had gotten a taste here and there in tapa form, but we wanted something bigger and better. And also served pipin' hot and fresh. This place was one of the best paella I've ever had in term of the rice! The seafood was wonderful as well, but what really stuck out was the crispiness of the rice. They nailed it. We had paella two more times during our trip at other restaurants, and the rice was not as good. We also had the garlic shrimp which was amazing. We learned from a cooking class we took the day before that you should take out the green bits inside garlic pieces when you cook, otherwise it'll leave that garlic taste in your mouth that you sometimes get for days on after. After a pot of VERY garlicky shrimp, the next day our mouths tasted great. A+ on this! The bottle of red wine we got was also excellent. I'm not sure what it was but it was similar to a Cab. Between the two of us, we finished the bottle, and felt perfectly fine the next morning. Great meal, and sit outdoors to people watch! read more

So we decided to come to this restaurant because it was nearby and seemed to have a lot of availability for our party of 7 around 8pm. All of us agreed that this was one of our top meals in Sevilla! First off, our waiter was absolutely amazing. I forgot to get his name but he is Italian, originally from an area that speaks Catalan but is fluent in Spanish (obviously) and spoke very little English. However, he helped us tremendously in ordering the perfect amount of food by using his recommendations for dishes and had us laughing every time he came around. Our wonderful experience was made so because of him. Now to the food: 1) Paella con Mariscos (5/5) was FANTASTIC. While it was the priciest one we've eaten in Sevilla at 34€ for an order for two people, it was fully worth it because every bite had perfectly cooked seafood. For a party of 6 (plus one child who doesn't eat seafood) our waiter recommend an order for 5 which was MORE than enough. You can custom order how many people you want your paella to serve. 2) El Pulpo (5/5) was recommended by our waiter because we love octopus. It came slightly seared, almost just blanched and still a little raw which was surprising but absolutely delicious. A friend recommended this place, and we're still scratching our heads about it. The service was very good, although we didn't seem to have a specific server, as 4-5 different people came to our table. They even changed our plates and silverware after each dish. The location offers good people-watching. But the food was inexplicably sad. The bread basket was an assortment of packaged (still wrapped) dry breads and crackers. In a land known for amazing olives, the mixed olive assortment, while generous, was overly salty and not at all flavorful. The primavera salad was good, with an interesting addition of small scoops of orange sorbet. Gambas al ajillo were low quality small shrimp in watery liquid with minimal olive oil. The bacalao Andaluz-style was very salty, and the accompanying cabbage, carrots and potato were boiled to death and looked it. We were so confused--but looking back, when the olives and bread were unsalvageable, we should have taken the hint. The best part of the dinner was a complimentary commercially packaged chocolate-covered morsel of ice cream given with the bill. Perhaps the chef was on vacation. read more

Kind of stumbled on this place trying to find another restaurant. I am so glad that I got lost. Decided to eat outside, even though it was raining in Seville. Started with the Sangria. This really hit the spot after alot of walking. It was the best I've had to my recollection. It wasn't too strong alcohol wise. It was sweet and refreshing. It was so good, I had to order another one. They brought out a best of bread that was individually wrapped in a plastic bag. Almost like a twinkie would be wrapped. Beware, the bread cost us $2.40 for 2 bread and a cracker looking thingy. Remember, most of the restaurants charge for their bread and some also charge for a cover. Luckily this one doesn't charge a cover. Got the Iberico Jamon medium as an appetizer. When in Spain, you have to try this dish. This is the country's specialty. Do not miss it. Anyway, the one I tried here was out of this world. It came drizzled with olive oil on top. I think they might have over did it a little with the amount of oil used. But it was amazing nonetheless. The fat melted in my mouth and the flavor of the meat was not too salty but a little on the sweet side. Too bad it's so bad for you or else I'd probably get another order of it. I ordered the Paella mixto for $30 euros. You have to order this for 2. They don't have them per person. I haven't had a lot paella to really compare, but this is by far the best. It had great seafood taste to it. The rice was cooked just right. Not to under cooked and not to soggy. Just right. It wasn't dry whatsoever. There's about 4 mussels, 2 langostine, shrimps and some other seafood that I couldn't really figure out. I think it might have been calamari. This was definitely worth getting lost for. One other good thing about this restaurant is that if you have over done it with the sangria, there are cabs just right outside ready to take you home. read more

No, I'm not talking about "oh, the nerve! they charged me 1.50 euros for bread and olives when I thought they were free!" (please, get over it. They ALL charge for bread and olives. stop acting cheap). The center of Sevilla has the tendency to be very touristy, with many kitschy shops and restaurants that do not serve quality food. El 3 de Oro was definitely one of our best gastronomic experiences while in Sevilla. The restaurant is very close to the Puerta de la Carne, a historic, high-traffic area. The menu features a combination of Andalucian classics, along with food that is more typical of northern Spain. Our waiter also made the experience quite memorable for us, as he was extremely attentive, and although very busy, made the time to ask us for our feedback on certain dishes. The summer in Sevilla is oppressively hot; rather than drink red wine with our lunch, we decided to order a pitcher of mojitos. Our waiter's eyes lit up as we ordered because he promised us that his mojitos were the best in the area. Oh wow, he was not kidding. These mojitos were refreshing and perfectly mixed (and not too sweet!) - I did not know how potent they were until I stood up! We decided to share the following: Jamon con melon - Our waiter assured us that the melon was very ripe and juicy. And it was! There's nothing quite like sweet, ripe honeydew on a hot summer day. Ensalada mixta - The typical salad with white asparagus, tomato, tuna, and egg. A very fresh and well-prepared classic. Albondigas de bacalao - These were by far one of the best parts of the meal and one of the restaurant's specialties. Surprisingly, the bacalao "meatballs" were very mild and served in a sauce that tasted of seafood (it did not overpower the fish). Although a serving of bread costs 2.50 euro, it is well worth it to purchase the bread in order to absorb some extra sauce. Urta al horno sevillano - Urta is a fish that is closely related to a snapper. One of the Andalusian styles of preparing fish involves seasoning with saffron and bay leaves and serving the fish with a side of roasted potatoes. The portion was generous for all of us to have a few bites. Rabo de toro (oxtail stew) - Along with the shellfish specials, El 3 de Oro is also known for its grilled meats. Rabo de toro is a very Andalusian dish, so we were curious to try. The sauce was extremely savory - I tasted thyme, rosemary, and oregano, amongst other spices. The meat was very, very tender. The dish is extremely hearty and heavy; best left for the cold weather. Our waiter was kind enough to bring us complimentary digestif while we enjoyed a fig dessert. Although many will complain about the prices at El 3 de Oro, the cheque was comparatively inexpensive to other restaurants in the area and the four of us were beyond stuffed and had finished at least two rounds of drinks. read more

Recently visited Spain with my wife and had the pleasure of traveling to Sevilla (extremely happy we decided to come here). We stayed at Hotel Amadeus a few blocks away from the cathedral. After trying a few places that didn't really impress us by the cathedral, we decided to wander closer to our hotel instead. We landed on El 3 de Oro and couldn't have been happier! We were very happy with our dinner and the service we received. To start, our waiter was extremely friendly and very helpful. I knew enough Spanish to get us around but he was able to offer advice and answer our questions. I uploaded photos of the food we ate: We got a free tapa that came with our dinner. I think it was some sort of cold squid salad with a light citrus dressing. We shared a Media Ensalada "Golden" de la Casa (Medium Golden House Salad) - It had some shrimp, an interesting creamy topping and I believe a pear dressing. Media Pulpo a la Gallega (Medium Octopus Galician Style) - This was one of the things that I had to get from my 10 things to eat in Spain. The octopus was tasty while the combination was interesting. I had nothing to compare it to but it tasted fresh and well cooked. It was sliced octopus over potatoes with some paprika and other seasoning on top. Media Boquerones Fritos (Medium Fried Anchovies) - We ordered by picture and the picture was a small. We ordered a medium order and out came a lot more anchovies than we expected! A bit on the salty side but fried fresh and tasty. Brocheta de Solomillo Iberico (Pork Loin Skewer) - By the time we got our entree which we split, we were already stuffed. Giant chunks of pork wrapped with bacon can never go wrong. The meat was a little tougher than I would have liked but we still really enjoyed this dish. Complimentary Orange liqueur and chocolate ice cream. - We were pleasantly surprised when these came out as we hadn't ordered it. Then we ordered the rice with lobster and it is terrible and experience. I can't believe what I ate! We got the order and they gave us all the lobster head and legs and no tail and the meat AT ALL!!! Located in the heart of the city, it is a great spot to have a meal at. Our waitor was VERY nice and made sure that we tasted the best flavors of Spain. Food and drinks: We (me and my friend) both ordered a special dinner menu for 16 Euro which included a starter, a main course, a dessert and a drink. This offer is quite cheap but doesn't include any typically spanisch dishes. If you like to order dishes wchich are not inclueded in the dinner offer you have to pay much more. The starter was a mixed salad. Most of the ingredients were finshed products. The salad had no dressing. Only oil and vinegar (not even salt snd pepper) were available. The main course was okay. We had grilled chicken with potatoes. The meal was a little bit dry. It took very long to get the dessert which was disappointing. In Andalucia you can get very delicious desserts but the ones served at the "el 3 de oro" didn't belong to the good ones and were simply tasteless. The waiter here almost made me cry. After 7 hours of exploring the beautiful Seville, I plopped down exhausted and hungry. The food looked delicious. I was ready to spend about 100 euros between two people. (We're athletes). After taking our drink order though I waited thirty minutes trying to get his attention. Smiling and putting my hand up multiple times. We literally asked, "did we do something wrong?" he pretended he did not speak english after I heard him discussing the Da Vinci code in English to the Australian couples a few tables down. I had such a bad experience with the waiter today. We wanted to order drinks but the waiter refused us and said we had to order food!!!! It's okay if it was a rule for their restaurant but a French couple that sat down after us (but ordered before us) only ordered drinks as well and they got it!!! It was so rude so we left!
