First time to visit from the US. Had a wonderful time with Ricky, learning about tango and the culture. El Beso is a special place.

I was invited here by a friend who dances often. This is one of the few tango spots that are still very traditional and keen on experienced dancers so it's nice to sit back and watch people who know what they are doing out on a performance while obviously enjoying themselves. I'll be honest and admit that the brownie I got was dry and the wine was joust okay... but no one goes there for the food so I'll give it a pass. I highly recommend visiting so you can get a different vibe for the tourist spots. Entry fee is by cash but you can pay by card for $2 extra. read more

It's a place to see a lot of skilled tango dancers do their thing. This place has an authentic vibe to it. There is food and bar service. Some empanadas, pastries, espresso drinks, some alcoholic drinks as well. I saw a modest shelf of hard liquors as well. Cover charge was 3500 pesos, or about US$3.25 at the exchange rate at the time. Decor is honestly kind of meh for me. Lighting is very bright the couple of times I went. Great that you can see the dancing, but doesn't provide much mood lighting. Bathrooms: Decent and spacious and reasonably clean. read more

Very cool spot! Can't speak to the food or drinks, but it's an interesting and unique activity to do in Buenos Aires. Watching the dynamic between the people and how they dance with each other was fascinating. read more

This place has outgrown its size and needs to move to a new location. You walk upstairs and check in and pay six dollars US - 120 pesos AR for the privilege of sitting around the room and hoping that someone looks at you and asks you to do a tango. They don't have enough table service and it is tight and crowded. The music sounds good, most of the tango dancers are fairly good but you really can't see that well and it's just too packed in there to feel comfortable. We are glad we went because our tango teachers were doing an exhibition and did two free tango dancers for everyone to see. read more

A welcoming place to watch tango/milonga. There were locals and tourists, and everyone belonged, regardless of age, skill, or national origin. While the dancing wasn't like a professional show, the passion for dance and tradition from those who partook was infectious. I can't remember the last time I saw a group of people so genuinely happy and proud to be part of something. There is an entrance fee and drinks are available. Not sure if food is available; I ordered French fries Friday afternoon, and they did not have any. The waitress suggested peanuts, and I agreed. Go see a milonga! Tuesday is the night for El Beso. Moderately dressed up men and women who are passionate for tango are gathered in this smallish space to dance. Well lit space. Good service. The way tables work here - you are given a ticket at the entrance and then you need to hand it to the matre'd who will find you a table. Men and Women sit across the room and real cabeceo is happening all night long. read more

We visited because I thought the name sounded promising, and walked up the stairs to another world. A packed room, at 4 p.m. on a Friday, of intense-looking dancers, most of them older, skilled, wth great dignity and feeling. It cost 160 peso--less than $4--to get in. We were the only tourists, as far as I can tell. I can't recommend it enough. It was magical. read more
