Super cool speakeasy in Buenos Aires. To get to the bar you walk down a flight of stairs that leads you to a New York subway. With subway tiles and all the sings and an actual subway cart. You have to walk into the cart to get to the bar on the other side. The bar itself is a beautiful space with very high ceilings and very nicely decorated. The sushi plate we had was also delicious. This place is incredible. This is by far one of the best speakeasies I've ever been to. The entrance to this place is based on the NYC subway (that I currently use regularly as I live in NYC & I really appreciated this), and it is absurd how much was put into it (you need to go, I won't spoil it). After you go through the amazing entrance, once inside you have a massive room with great music, a side room for sitting and some great decorations that add to the subway & nyc ambiance. There was a bit of a wait to get in but it was definitely worth it. Also as a note, people were dressed pretty well here so maybe bump up the wardrobe a bit as well. If you have a weekend evening available, make a stop at this unforgettable spot. read more

Uptown is one of the coolest bars in BA. Form what i hear there is Always a huge line on a Friday / Saturday. Atmosphere is super cool-- you head downstairs to a NY subway station, and the entrance is actually through a subway car. Inside has two rooms, one a fun dancy room and another for sitting and chilling. The music is SO FUN, great blend of throw back, hip hop, dance music. They have live DJs who play and their cocktails are yummmy and around $6 which isn't horrible, especially for this bar. All their cocktails have a fun theme to it, like they'll give you a sticker or put a cute little statue of liberty stirrer in it. Lots of young people, you don't need to dress up but don't show up wearing shorts. Overall SOOO happy with this bar, and I'll definitely be back. It was a huge highlight in BA. read more

This bar is amazing to put it simple. The entrance is lowkey and very cool, crossing the train car is awesome, and the bar + bartenders are excellent! Beyond having an awesome train station location, the cocktails are all beautifully crafted and worth every penny. I watched bartenders hand select ice cubes that fit perfectly into each glass, counting them out rather than just filling a cup or scoop of ice. The bartenders are showman's as well, flexing their skills with spins and twirls while ice flies through the air and lands into a well crafted cocktail. The bar was very crowded when our group of 6 was there on a Friday night around 11:30 but the DJ was killing it with a great set of music and everyone was vibing. This is definitely an upscale bar but they've executed every aspect of the ambiance. From cool decor, reserved seating for dining, and a bit of room for light dancing, I can't wait to be back! The drinks are more expensive than most bars, running about $300 pesos (roughly $7 USD) per drink but every cocktail I tried was impressive and featured an extra sticker or something fun with it. Additionally, the bartenders beautifully garnished every drink and presentation was excellent on every menu item. Tables for dinner seem to be by reservation only and they're booked out almost 2 weeks in advance, but I imagine having a reserved table would be worth every hassle of getting one! I can't wait to go back! Also, the bartenders speak English which was a plus, and the DJ was mixing almost exclusively English music (new songs and throwbacks). read more

Location: Located near Arevalo and Nicaragua in Palermo Hollywood. The People: Staff is okay. The Venue: - This is a pretty hard place to get a drink in Buenos Aires and you need to have reservations to eat. If you just want to get the photos of the subway and a drink you can just show up early (without a reservation) and hope they have room (it is on a first come first serve basis). I came once around 9:30pm and it was too late. I came another time around 8:30 and I got in without reservations. - Tuesdays: I would recommend going on a Tuesday which might be the least busiest day, and your best shot at getting in. Lots of places for you to take photos and nobody rushes you to move on, so you can try snapping many pictures before you go get your drink. If you don't have a reservation, do know that you have to drink standing. There is not really an area to sit nor an area to hold your drink, so you stay pretty much by the front of the bar. The drinks are pretty well made and do recommend. - Saturdays: If you can manage to get in on a Saturday I recommend it as the first place to begin your night. Get a cocktail or two and dance a little bit. The bar area (which is pretty small) becomes a dancing area and some people take advantage of it. A great first spot to go before going to a club on a Saturday night. The Drinks: - Paid Vacation Time (Absolut, coconut, lemon, ginger): This is a really delicious drink and it is served as bougie as it can be. Do recommend it if you have a sweet tooth. - Sweet Caribbean (Bacardi, aperol, pineapple, lemon, chai): This drink is sweet but not as sweet as "Paid Vacation Time" it was an okay drink. Also made aesthetically pleasing. - Copper Express (Absolut, pineapple, lemon, orange): This drink is exclusive to tables reserved. It is about twice the cost of all other cocktails but it is a really bougie drink worth getting because it is super delicious. I had all my friends try it and they all loved it. This is my favorite thus far. Upshot: It is a great spot to come with friends or on a date and have a nice cocktail and take some nice photographs for your social media profiles. The drinks are really good and worth it. The only reason this bar falls short of 5 stars (in my opinion) is because there is nowhere to sit or place your drink in the "no-reservation area" for people. It can get a bit awkward just standing there as everyone else (who has reservations) is sitting or as more people order a drink at the bar and you have to move over as the demand comes. First, this place has incredible decor and if we left it at that it would be 5 stars. Why 1 star??? The bartender was an arrogant prick. Ordered a martini, he didn't tell us it would be a 'double' and when asked by my Argentinian friend he was both rude and condescending. Other wait staff weren't very polite and seemed to be put off by seating us even though we were there for a very short time. Recommendation just order off the drink menu and the prices are fair otherwise you'll get gouged for a martini 580 pesos - $15+ - which you pay at only the most expensive bars in San Francisco. The normal drinks are $6. Sad because this is a place I would love to frequent, but will spend my money at other cool bars in the Palermo area. read more

Very strange I thought so I watched the door for a while to see if he was just letting his friends in and yes that seemed to be the case ! Super funny entrance down a subway station. Spend 10 minutes in Uptown and have a look around but do not try to buy anything in the bar or you will just be really annoyed with the young sloths behind the bar who think they have important jobs. If you finally get a drink it's hit and miss. The Fresh Air has nothing fresh about it and is probably one of the worst drinks I've had but the Morphine is very nice. Maybe depends on who is taking the order. It's expensive and not a place where you want to spend more than an hour but a fun tourist attraction. read more

This place is dope! By far one of the best layouts for a bar/restaurant. The owners definitely put a lot of thought into the design and it shows!! I love how you just order from the bartender versus ordering at a cashier! That makes the bar much more American. Anyone who complains about having to catch the bartenders' attention, has never been to NYC... or any other major city in the states.
