I was in the area for work (seems like this happens a lot for me). I worked all day and needed food for the drive home, well I ate here in the restaurant and glad I did. First this is in a strip mall and isn't very large. I walked in and did have to ask if I should sit or order at the counter. I sat down at a table and was provided a simple menu (I love simple menus with no pictures). I asked what was good and was told everything... so I ordered a chicken burrito and some fried plantains (Have I mentioned I love fried plantains, well I do). I also ordered water to drink. A couple minutes later out came a glass of water and some chips and salsa. Chips were simple chips from a bag I am sure, the salsa was good, but not great. I know your thinking but you gave them 5 stars... give me a minute. Out came the plantains and my burrito, there must have been 8 or 10 pieces of plantains, almost a meal in itself and each were perfectly done and oh so yummy. The burrito was wrapped in aluminum foil. I opened one end and took a bite, wow this has to be one of the best burritos I have eaten. First this thing is huge, it was as long as my fork (regular metal fork) and this thing is very thick, think 5 inch diameter huge. The taste was perfect. This isn't your average fast food burrito place, this is so much better. I ate the entire thing and all the plantains and felt so full. I should have taken half of each home with me it was large enough to share. I will be back. I might even drive out of my way to make sure I come back here it was that good.

    Pupusas, tamales, and a burrito

I'm so happy I finally got to try this place, because I've been needing to get my Salvadoran fix. It's in a pretty unassuming strip mall (nothing shady), but it can be easy to miss. You'll have no problem finding a parking spot. Upon entering it seemed like a lot of their business was to go, but there's plenty of seating inside to bring a group. The lady who sat me, and who looked like she was running the whole operation, was super friendly and gladly made some suggestions on the menu. I didn't know what to get, but I knew I had to get pupusas, so I ordered two of the pork ones, a steak burrito, and a tamale. It was way too much food, but I have an issue with needing to try everything the first time I go to a new restaurant. Everything was really good, and I really loved the pupusas. The burrito was great as well, but I think the tamale was my least favorite but still tasty. The hot sauce wasn't my favorite, but the food stood on its own, so it wasn't necessarily needed. I can't say this is my favorite Latin American food in town, but it's definitely a solid lunch spot if you're in the area. There's only a handful of restaurants serving Salvadoran food in Columbus, and it seems like most of them are on the West side, so this is a great spot to have in the Reynoldsburg area. If you're a fan of cheesy, meaty goodness and have never had Salvadoran fare, you'll definitely love the pupusas. If you're just looking for a tasty burrito that's not from a chain, then you can't go wrong here either.

Love this place. We order 10-20 pupusas for take out every couple of months. Always fresh & tasty. Kind staff. Consistent cooking! Salsa and hot sauce is good too. Beans and rice are delicious. Keep coming back even though it's 30 minutes away!

Yucca Fries with Pork on left, Papusa at the top middle and Chicken, Shrimp and Steak with Fries.

High quality foods bursting with flavors and perfectly prepared, large portions. I stopped in for a late lunch and walked into an empty restaurant. Normally that might make you wonder whether you should stay or go but the aromas were too mouth watering to leave! I order Yucca Fries with Pork for an appetizer (by accident) but it was very much worth the price and the flavors of the cabbage (slaw) and a Pico type mixture was amazing, made even better when lime juice was squeezed over the top and hot sauce shaken on the Yucca and Fried Pork! Papusas and the Chicken with Steak and Shrimp with fires was my chosen entree! Very Flavorful, Filling, affordable and worth returning to try the other appetizers and Entrees. Service was friendly and fast, the dining area was organized and well kept, just a bit small!

Everything smelled so good. Started to eat before taking my picture.

This place is a must stop if you're in the Columbus area. We were driving through in our way to the beach, and were we fortunate that this restaurant was along the way for us. We got the mixed pupusa, and it was the best that I've tried. Don't just fill up on pupusas, also try the chicken tamale (very flavorful) and the quesadilla. Needless to say, we didn't not leave the place hungry.

Found this little place while on the east side! We have had pupusas before at a food truck on the north side so we were excited to find another place in town that had them! The place is small but comfortable with booths along one wall, some tables and chairs in the middle and tables along the other side. there isn't a lot of direction as to what you're supposed to do once you go in, but you just seat yourself and they'll bring you some menus! They have fried plantains and chips and salsa as appetizers as well as quesadillas. They have a good variety of chicken and seafood dishes but we were there for the pupusas! I got 2 cheese and 1 loroco and my boyfriend got a mixed, a pork and a loroco. They messed ours up a bit... they brought my cheese pupusas out but not my loroco and brought my boyfriend all of his plus 1 extra cheese pupusa. We also had gotten the fried plantain appetizer (which was SUPER delicious) so i was already getting full and wasn't upset by my missing loroco pupusa so I didn't mention it. My boyfriend was nice enough to share his with me since he had gotten an extra one! I see pictures on Yelp where they have Salvadorean Quesadillas (a think moist cheesey cake) for sale but I am not sure what days they have them. the food truck we went to had them only on Saturdays, and we were lucky enough to try one and fell in love. So hopefully we can figure out when Burrito Loco has them and pick one up there too! All in all it's a cute little place that looks family owned. They spoke English pretty well and are really really nice! Go check them out!

I tried the cheese papusa, the meat papusa, chicken tamale, and fried plantains. The papusa sweet great! The red salsa that went with it enhanced the flavors. The tamale had good flavor and had a lot of meat. The only downside was it was a little greasier than I expected. The fried plantains were as expected, a tad more oily though. I wish they had tostones! Pics of the menu below!

    Steak burrito. Tough meat. Bland.
    Jane S.

Not impressed : ( My burrito was bland with barely any flavor, mostly filed with rice, steak was tough with gristle, beans were the light brown kind like in chili, not black beans, and when asked, they have no guacamole nor avocado. (Really??) The complimentary nacho chips are round yellow corn, the cheap kind like from a snack bar. Chipotle has them beat by 100 miles. Also, I was the only one here at lunch time. The server (not a young person) was playing on her phone and I had to ask twice for my can of soda. Later she was again playing on her phone and I had to ask for my check. (Two people, two tables for her to wait on). Cost was just under $9 for burrito and can of soda. Won't be back. If you want authentic Mexican in a small no frills restaurant, take my advice, try La Supertorta on the west side on Georgesville Rd. just north of 270.

First time stopping in and it was close to work so why not ? The atmosphere is pretty simple. The food was good .I sat down and immediately received chips and salsa that was very tasty. I got the menu wasn't sure what I wanted but decided To go with the chicken burrito, it had beans lettuce sour cream . It wasn't loaded with chicken more rice than anything but flavors were good .I saw tamales someone else had ordered they look good so I may go again and try some other menu items .

    Pollo Guisado
    Giovanna A.

Why oh why didn't anyone tell me these are at least some if not all of the same folks from the Salvadorean restaurant previously located on S. Hamilton almost to the corner of E Main? Was positively bummed when that closed, my very favorite carryout lunch place back then...location seems to be doomed no matter what goes in there. So this incarnation/location is obviously much better for business visibility wise, also much larger and nicer inside. The food is just as good as it ever was, even more so with additional dishes on the menu. My regular order item remains the Pollo Guisado (chicken stew), though will try the beef as well I'm sure, and hopefully seafood if they will still humor me and my "should be but no idea why it's not on the menu" requests. It's the sauce that is to die for good. They could probably throw nothing but packing peanuts in that sauce and I'd eat it. Mmm mmmm. Of course I had to try the pupusas everyone was raving about, and with good reason. Essentially the latin american version of an Indian stuffed naan but with different texture and filling options obviously. Also tried the dessert empanadas, be sure to ask about them when you go as they are not on the menu, if they have them definitely recommend ordering. Excellent cole slaw type item came with something I ordered, not entirely sure what but will definitely figure it out and have again. Co-worker had the Pollo en crema, which is not really as rich as it sounds, it is actually similar to my beloved chicken stew but with a little of some sort of dairy to make it creamy, not overwhelmingly rich at all. Not pictured; I did get to try it but was practically elbowed on the hang on while I take a picture suggestion, was a late lunch and we were both hungry as heck.

Chicken, pork and mixed papusus! served with a side of excellent tangy Salvadorian coleslaw!

Holy cow, that is some seriously freaking awesome Salvadorian food!! I can't remember how I initially found out about this place, but found they had a Yelp page and had to check it out. This restaurant has been Salvadorian focused for many years. A year and a half ago, new owners bought it from the former. Excellent! Cleanliness, service, food, and pricing where all wonderful. Several clean and orderly tables and clean floors. Two small TVs in opposite corners. The one was turned on playing current latino hits. And the TV was not too loud. Our waitress, Frances, was polite and friendly. She explained several things on the menu, including their Pina y Maranon. If you like tropical fruit, this is your life-quencher! I ended up trying a few different items: A pork, a chicken and a cheese papusus; their fried plantains appetizer; and a chicken tamales (they were out of pork). The seasoned chicken in the middle of the corn-mush tamales mix was succulent as heck. The consistency was very good. There's a lot of the corn mix in tamales, in general, so I chose to not eat it all, simply to save room to try the other items. All the previous reviews are right: This place makes some badass, delish pupusas! Wowzeers! Amazingly full of flavor. The cheese one is not your typical oozy liquid that you find at Kroger or Giant Eagle. There's something special added to it, and plopped smack in the middle of the corn tortilla pancake. The pork and chicken only added to the already great dish. All three were pipping hot and flavorful to the max! The plantains were sweet bombs of delight! Soft, melt in your mouth, sweet bombs. Icing on the cake? The banana chunks are served traditional Salvadorian style: with the best dang refried beans and cream sauce I've ever tasted, hands-down. They must crush or blend the beans cause it's like eating split pea soup, only a bit thicker. And flavor that's out of this world!! The white sauce has hints of sour cream (?), but this is a guarded secret. All the waitress could say was the sour cream is blended with other ingredients to get this phenomenal finished side. Two thumbs up!! I mixed the beans with the cream, dipped those plantains in it, and would have been happy to die then and there in Foodtopia! Marlena's whole fish was amazeballs! Juicy and tender. Seasoned to perfection. Another fantastic dish to recommend! I definitely will be back - I'm seriously glad I've found this joint! I hope they continue to serve such quality food!!

Welcome to my current hidden gem on the East side folks! I am completely blown away by how delicious the food is here! The papusas are incredible. Please make sure you order the mixed meat version - there are three options for your selection. Everything is made to order, so please don't think you'll be in and out in 5 minutes. It's not going to happen and you're going to be soo happy about it! The plantains are darn near perfect. Golden delicious and served with a side of sour cream and refried beans. Please don't disrespect your tummy and not order these delicious morsels when you visit. And trust me - you'll want to clear your calendar and get here as quickly as possible. The interior is clean and simple. The service is paced and polite. There is usually just one person working the register and attending the tables, so please be kind. I promise you it's worth it.

It is next to a plasma place and what might be a market. If you're coming off Cleveland or 161, look for the car repair place and it is straight back from there. They said it's been here two years, but in the three months I've been a fairly regular visitor to the area I've never noticed it. Step inside, and it's nothing fancy, but with lots of comfy booths and tables. I went with carne azada. Strips of beef, marinated and grilled, and probably the best I've had. Sided with a mix of rice and beans that was pretty good, pico de gallo, excellent guacamole, a roasted pepper, and perfect, hot and fresh corn tortillas. Wrap it all up or eat it individually, it's great either way. Great food, at a decent price, in a non-descript place. Just as I was about to order the bartender walks by carrying 2 plates that looked incredible. All I could understand was "Chicken, it's good. You should try." What the heck. Let's do it. Out came the most colorful plate that I could only describe as the best smothered chicken I've ever had sitting on a bed of fried plantain slices and pickled onion. The tomato based sauce was so freaking flavorful and the chicken was so juicy it tasted like it was broasted. The plantains were as satisfying as the best French fries I ever had. That bed that the chicken was on was cabbage (I think), olive slices, pickled onion, beets and a few carrot slices, smothered in a red and Yum Yum looking sauce. I've never tried anything blind at a restaurant in my life and this was simply amazing. Paired it with a Victoria beer and honestly it was one of the best meals I've had in a while. Sorry no pics but I got lost in the experience. It happens sometimes. Everything came to about $30 and that's with 2 bottles of Victoria. It's $7.50 for a pretty poor execution of the plantains. Wasn't very pleasing to the eye either. But thanks goodness the entrees were different! The steak street tacos were juicy and had plenty of cilantro and onions. They have cucumbers, lime and sauteed onions to pair. The Bistec Salvadoreno also had a nice juicy steak in a red sauce with sauteed onions and peppers. The pinto beans paired nicely, not overly salted like a lot of beans usually be. I didn't like the rice it had little to no flavor.. but the Pico de Gallo was delish! Overall good experience and I'll be back to try some more margaritas, Oh and the pupusas!
