Great Mexican food with friendly staff! Some of the signage outside the door was only in Spanish but it talked about not parking in front of the business next door or else you'd get towed. When we walked in, we were told to sit in whichever booth/table we wanted. They gave us chips and salsa and time to review the menu. I opted for the barbacoa and it was great! Not very often on this part of town but went to check out the new Plaza Tapatia. My friend didn't want cafeteria style so we ended up here. I wouldn't say I wouldn't come back. The place was just what I like, a little hole in the wall building in the middle of nowhere. I quite liked the entree I got; chimichanga. It had a lot of cheese which I love and the flavors weren't bad. My favorite part of the whole dish were the beans. They were fresh and tasted delicious. Seasoned perfectly. My friend said the chille rellenos were "ok" but did not satisfy his craving. I didn't get his review of the Gordita now that I think about it. Disappointment for the day has to be the tacos. We got 4 carnitas tacos and the meat was so dry. It's like they over cooked a pork chop and then chopped it up and served it on shells. It was hard to eat and just lacking in flavor. Even dousing it in the amazing green sauce it was hard to get down. Horchata was on the "meh" side. It did not taste homemade (maybe a powder form) and was overrun by cinnamon. Drinkable but nowhere near one of the best ones I've had. Overall not too shabby of a place. I would go back if I were in the area but doesn't warrant a trip just to try it. read more

Picked up carryout from El Jaliciense at 3528 Sullivant Avenue and was so happy with the meal! We had never gotten food from here, but had always wanted to, and I'm glad we finally did! I got the Westgate burrito and my partner got the chicken torta. It was absolutely one of the best burritos I've ever eaten! The chips and salsa were tasty! It came to about $27 for two entrees and chips & salsa, but those two entrees gave us four meals. The staff was super helpful when I went into grab our order. The vibe of this restaurant is FUN! Call me crazy but I thought the whole idea behind chimichangas was that they are deep fried? This was fine...the filling tasted good and wow...I really love their rice. Great quality Mexican food in the Westside. You'll be a bit scared of the location if you judge it from the outside. Once you're inside it is clean and welcoming. Get a margarita here. They are strong, taste great, and the price is right. We've enjoyed everything we've ordered here. The service is quick. The prices are great for the quality of food. I ordered a quesadilla one night from this place. Not only was it drowning in GREASE but there was a ROACH in my food! How do you not review what you're handing out to people? I called and they told me to bring it in. I bring it in, and the lady ahs the nerve to be upset at ME. As I was leaving all the people in the back reunited around the food box to look at it. Not even a SORRY. Just handed me back my money, they are RUDE at this place. Also, unsanitary. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!! DO NOT GO HERE TO EAT YOU WILL FIND INSECTS IN YOUR FOOD. I was pleasantly surprised by this place! I wasn't expecting much, but I can honestly say that this place is authentic mexican food. Everything had actual flavor (which is often not the case at a lot of "Mexican" places), and everything was definitely fresh, too. I'll be coming here again when I want a good burrito or tasty, crispy chicken flautas. I also liked their salsas and queso quite a bit, too. Definitely check this place out! Went there at 1 PM on a Sunday afternoon. The parking lot was packed and the restaurant as well. Looked like all tables were taken. Sat at the bar was immediately asked what I would like to have. My friend arrive shortly after we decided to stay at the bar, eat and drinks there. Never ending supply of chips and salsa. Delicious queso. I had the Pollo Loco. I cannot remember what my friend had but he loved it. Everyone that worked there was so nice. The atmosphere-loved it !! very reasonably priced! margaritas two thumbs up. I love mom and pop places, so I wish I could give more stars. Unfortunately, the chicken on my tacos was dry, and they didn't add sauce to the tacos. It took a long time for the food to come out, which was odd since they weren't busy. There are no vegetarian dishes on the menu, but they have shrimp and tilapia for those who eat shrimp and tilapia. The service was friendly, and my margarita was very good, in a cute cup (see pic). My side of rice was also very good. It was cheap and authentic. Authentic and tasty. Definitely a local spot and quite busy. The outside of the building can cause hesitation but it's worth stopping in.

During our adventures in the hilltop we stopped here for lunch. It's a cute small family owned restaurant. The Hernandez family operate the joint. We walked into a colorful restaurant with friendly servers. I ordered the shrimp and steak platter and added cactus since I've never tasted cactus before! It was really good- kind of like a grilled green pepper but sweet tasting. My hubby got the steak fajitas. Both came with beans and rice. We got the corn tortillas because they make them fresh daily. Enjoyed a nice morning and lunch on the west side Hilltop neighborhood. The staff was really sweet and friendly. The chips and salsa were about the same as most other Mexican restaurants, simple and delicious. My biggest recommendation would be to get the beef fajitas. They were plentiful, sizzling, delicious. The vegetables were all cooked nicely too. The corn tortillas are made fresh in house and were the perfect wrapper for the fajitas. The price points are reasonable. Hello! $1 tacos at El Jalisciense on Tuesdays is a must! I will go here any day of the week but it's given on taco Tuesday. The meat is juicy and has just amount of spice you need. They also offer green and red sauce to put on top with a side of limes. Parking can be tricky since they only have a number of parking spots but I haven't been when it's too busy. read more

Called at the last minute to order dinner for 12 for my family. We needed food after a memorial service for my mom. I found this restaurant on yelp. The staff quickly responded and had a meal for us together in less than 30 minutes. We ordered Asada, chicken and shrimp for tacos, beans rice and all the toppings. Everything was absolutely delicious. My family was more than happy, it was more than enough and it hit the spot. Yum! Best authentic Mexican food on the west side of Columbus, bright, cheerful decor, great service and really good food. Taco Tuesday is $1 Tacos and $2 Sol or Dos Equis beer. Great deal. I highly recommend checking it out. They also serve breakfast. read more

The customer service was ok. My review is based on the mariscos/sea food. I was disappointed in the food especially since this place had good reviews. The aguachile was good but the coctel de camaron (shrimp cocktail )was too sweet and had too much ketchup and the shrimp in it was not fresh and a bit rubbery , the oysters were bad and by bad I mean they had a spoiled aftertaste.
