I was fortunate to get the business owner as my cab driver. Said he has several drivers to cover 24 hours a day. Really great to have them in my contacts!! They do like to remain in Santee although they said they do take people to the airport originating in Santee. I call them for all my cab rides first and have been turned away due to pick ups outside of Santee (e.g., I was on the San Diego/La Mesa border to bring me home to Santee and was turned away). I asked the dispatcher if she could give me a fixed rate or minimally a quote: She wouldn't. For me, a woman coming from out of town, it did not give me the assurance I needed that, things would go well, if I couldn't be given the courtesy of a fixed rate or minimally, a quote up front. That lack of transparency was a big red flag. I crossed them off my list. I then called Coastal Cab and spoke with Adam, the dispatcher. I asked him for a fixed rate and he said, "Of course," and guaranteed the ride would cost $50 from the Del Cerro neighborhood to the airport. I made the reservation and called about 30 minutes before my pick-up time, just to ensure I was on their list for a ride at that time and he assured me I was and the driver showed up exactly at the requested time. The cab (a Prius) was clean and the driver (Jamal) was friendly, a good listener and most importantly, reliable and safe. It seems to me that it's rare these days to have such an experience of competence and ease with making arrangements with a new business, but Adam and Jamal made things seamless for me. I will absolutely call Coastal Cab in the future, next time I'm in San Diego and need a lift.

As an older woman, I didn't feel comfortable with a ride share, so I Googled taxis and found great reviews for Coastal Cab. I called them, and they had a driver to my home in less than 30 minutes. The car was extremely clean, and the driver, Abdi, was very professional and friendly. He put my wheelchair in his trunk, safely drove me to my destination and set up my wheelchair upon arrival. It was such a great experience, that I called them back the next day to take me back to the festival at the Rady Shell.
