My family and I had a wonderful experience at El Charro Mexican Grill in LaFollette, Tennessee! The food was fresh, delicious, and the service was outstanding. My wife, Brittany, ordered 6 soft chicken tacos, and she loved them. I ordered 4 chicken tacos and another order of 3 chicken tacos, and they were all seasoned perfectly and packed with flavor. We also got our son 3 beef tacos, and he really enjoyed them. We started with the complimentary chips and salsa, which were fresh and tasty. To drink, I had the Chamoy Margarita, and Brittany had the Blue Margarita--both were excellent and definitely worth trying. We finished our meal with the sopapillas for dessert, and they were the perfect sweet ending to a great dinner. A special thank you to our server, Nicole, who provided exceptional service. She was friendly, attentive, and always checked on us throughout our meal, making sure we had everything we needed, including keeping our water glasses refilled. Her excellent customer service made our visit even more enjoyable. Go there pretty regularly. We like the look and feel of the place. Please note: If you order alcohol they will give you "lime" if you just want to get water with lime (no matter what you spend on food) they will refuse limes. But weird when your food comes they will give you tons of limes. Not sure where the disconnect is. We have almost brought our own limes to hand out throughout the whole restaurant. It's quite the quirky lime deal. We will continue to feast there until something better comes to Campbell County but do hope they loosen up with the lines cuz right now it's lime "lame sauce" read more

My husband and I are new to the area so we were driving around when we decided to stop for a late lunch (2:00). We did a Yelp search and saw that this place 4 stars so we stopped. Outside it looks like an old Sonic. We went in and were greeted by a friendly server, who sat us right away. She took our drink order right away (we both order tea) and returned with them plus chips & salsa. The chips were warm and not greasy at all. The salsa was tasty with a nice kick. I ordered the lunch tostaguac and my husband ordered the lunch pollo loco. Both meals came with refried beans and rice. My tostaguac was excellent! The tortilla was nice and crunchy and the toppings were very tasty. My husband said his was excellent as well. We both said at the same time- "great choice!". The place had pretty decor and was very clean. We highly recommend you give this place a try if you're looking for a wonderful Mexican meal! read more

We have a favorite Mexican restaurant in our town and my son's favorite dish is the Pollo Fondido. El Charro's Pollo Fondido is better! Their salsa is also super yummy. Lots of flavor with a little kick in it. My wife's favorite part of the meal was their margaritas. I'm not a huge margarita drinker but I ordered one also after I tasted hers. We will be back to eat here whenever we come back to Norris. read more

We are in the area on vacation and decided to try this restaurant. The food was excellent - I had chicken fajitas and my husband had a chicken chimichanga. My chicken may have been just a slight touch on a few pieces, but still great flavor. Salsa and chips were fresh and tasted great. Our waiter was extremely nice and on the ball. Main eating areas of restaurant appeared clean, which is a plus. The only complaint would be before we left, we stopped at their ice cream counter and ordered a milkshake for each of. I took all of three sips and my husband took one of his and we just couldn't drink them. The chemical that they leave the scoop in permeated the ice cream A total waste of $14. Delicious ultimate molcajetes. Every once in a while I miss San Diego and hearing Spanish, this place gave me a piece of home. Nopales (cactus), fried cheese, steak, carnitas, chicken, and shrimp, with entire onions and jalapeños. Rice and beans were good. Chips were good, salsa was mild and horchatas are super sweet, but I think that's what people like around here. Margaritas were great, you can definitely taste the tequila. read more

To avoid the same old drive thru BS, We placed a carry out order at El Charro today. I can't say that much has changed from my first review. I still wasn't blown away by the chips and salsa. What did seem to change was portion size. I ordered Fajitas Acapulco and was surprised by how much was there. This turned into to two meals for me. Not sure if it was just the dish, maybe it was because it was carry out, maybe El Charro is more generous. No matter the reason, I stand behind my first review but they have improved in at least one aspect. El Charro is worth a try. read more

Another wonderful dinner with great service. Love the new amigos and outside patio. We go almost weekly and have never been disappointed.

Tried this place for the first time last week and were really happy with it. It looks like a hole in the wall on the outside (may be used to be a Sonic?), but was very clean with great service. The margaritas were yummy and huge, and all 4 of us liked our dinner choices. Husband and son shared the fried ice cream (fought over it is the better phrase) and said it was really good as well. What impressed me with El Charro is the quality of the food. I had the mocajete; my wife had teriyaki chicken. Both dishes were fantastic!! And my mocajete not only had beef, chicken and shrimp- to my surprise it had cactus too - a surprising treat. And a big fat jalapeño in a tasty broth. The margaritas were stellar. Inexpensive, and not a 'Mix' taste. And a healthy tequila pour! My favorite meals are usually Mexican and Thai. This Mexican restaurant- whenever I'm back in northern TN - will be a definite stop again! Service was great! read more

Stopped here based on previous reviews, and glad I did. Tried the special on the board which was steak tips with rice. Chips and salsa on point, steak had great flavor and good sized plate. Used to be decent, but not so much now. Asked about a menu item due to an allergy and was told that would not be in there. Food arrived and didn't even get a bite due to the allergen being in what would have been the first bite. Didn't want them to try and remake because of inability to get it right the first time. Asst manager could have cared less when I brought the issue up. If possible deserves zero star rating. Should have ate it and sued when I had a reaction. read more

Wow! We have driven by many times, The bright lights turned me off. Boy were we wrong. Solid food great service and CLEAN!! Full bar with margaritas which is a must with chips!
