Asked what was best and was told the honest truth because everything we ate was hands down the best eats in the area. Fajita was delicious and polo dish with rice and cheese was excellent, usually not a rice fan except this rice was flavor packed and had little kernels of corn. Margarita on the rocks was okay, the sweet tea was deliciously extra sweet and so was the friendly lady who chatted with us and was kind emough to bring our dog some ice water on the porch. Porch was large and decorated with lights and umbrellas. Good hot chips and a good salsa. YUM and easy get off the interstate. read more

Arrived and took a bit to get seated although many workers there isn't really a host(ess). Our both was still wet from being wiped off. A little less water leftover next time would be good. We were promptly met by our server. After debate, we ordered margaritas. Original. A little watered down, unsure if there was alcohol in it. Menu warning!**** if you mix meats (one chicken, one beef, etc) it's $2 extra. I had the deluxe burritos. Chicken was preferred for sure. She ordered the taquitos. Nice and crispy and both meats were good. Chips were not thick and not thin. Salsa was good. A bit different and we liked it. Typical Mexican restaurant. We went once traveling. Alright folks, if you want to know where the locals eat.....this is it. I can honestly say with weekly meals here for over 10 years, I have never had a bad meal here. Now, with that being said, it is typically busy and busy can sometimes mean the atmosphere may be a little chaotic, and the staff may be scurrying around...not giving the one on one attention to detail you most often get....still the food is always hot and quickly served. With it being a little restaurant, they know how to get people fed in a hurry. Try it, you won't be disappointed. read more

We shared the carnitas plate. The pork had good flavor and easy to shred. The rice and beans were yummy. The salad with guacamole came on a separate plate and was plenty for two. We were surprised to find a jalapeño dorado included and were pleased. The waiter was great attentive to our needs and asked if our tortillas were flour or corn. Of course it was corn. We were staying at the Holiday Inn Express next to this restaurant and thought Tex-Mex both sounded good and was close. We order the Molcajete, which is the house specialty. It is a combination of steak, chicken and shrimp. It also comes with grilled cactus and charro beans, rice and tortillas. The good news is that one order was enough for both of us. The bad news is the lack of flavor. The charro beans were very tasty. The chicken, steak and rice lacked any flavor or seasoning. The shrimp was ok. In addition the chicken and steak were cut extremely thin so they were dry and tough. For a specialty of the house, this dish was very disappointing. read more

I still don't understand why many Mexican restaurants don't serve horchatas. Well, add El Doroados to that list. It makes me a little sad right from the get go. Of course we began with enough chips, salsa, and guacamole to feed a small army. Everyone over does it with chips, right? Our server was nice enough to allow me to sub out one of my grilled fish tacos for a grilled shrimp taco. I dig a little variety and I appreciate servers to accommodate their guests. Well. Williamsburg, KY might be limited on options across the board, being a small town. El Dorado is an absolute GEM! I've dined here twice, both experiences noteworthy and delicious, home made everything with fantastic service. The salsa alone is worth the visit. Fresh, lots of variety, a huge menu& portions, add in a very kid friendly menu to boot, El Dorado is sure to fill your belly, make you happy, and leave you wanting more. Pretty good Mexican place, right off I-75. The salsa is great, the chips are basic bagged chips though. The carnitas was okay. I tried my wife's dinner, the quesadilla Hawaiana, and it was amazingly delicious! Next time we stop there, I'm definitely getting that. My daughter's Chile Relleno was huge but the poblano pepper itself was undercooked and hard and thick. Maybe the ones we're used to are overcooked, not sure. Food was meh. Felt like prices were high for a hole in the wall place. But we did find a bug (that I will not name) in our salsa bowl that was flipped over into our chips. I wanted to leave but the rest of the party decided to stay as there aren't many other options. One of us just got back from Mexico and said the tamales were reminiscent of the ones there and really liked them. Was disappointed as we stopped here on our way home from an 8hr drive and have stopped a few times before. Must've remembered it better than it was. Just stopped in for beers so take my four star review with a grain of salt. The decor is what you'd expect for a restaurant that was probably something else before it became a locally owned Mexican restaurant. The menu looked pretty standard but I only glanced at it. The salsa with the chips was fresh and tasty - maybe made on site, perhaps? Our wait person may have been the owner, not sure, and he was super friendly and didn't mind serving just beers, maybe because it was pre-dinner rush.
