The billing department is THE worst! I was informed around April 2024 that I had a balance from 2 yr prior, because my insurance hadn't processed my claims in 2 yrs, which I find hard to believe that the VA did that. I accepted the debt and told them I would make monthly payments, which I had been. Out of the blue, I was contacted by a debt collection agency and when I told them that I've been making monthly payments, they told me to contact the billing office. When I did, no one could tell me anything. I called the billing office back and was finally told that it was sent to collection because I had not agreed to a payment plan, to which I told them that no one asked me to agree to a payment plan, even though I was making monthly payments. Around October, I called again & asked to speak to a manager and I'm still waiting for a return call. It seems like they're accustomed to treating their customers this way, and don't even have the decency to return their phone calls. If I could've gotten away with giving them 0 stars, that's what they would've gotten. The debt has since been paid in full through the collection agency. El Dorado PT's Billing Department is TERRIBLE!!! Look out for Karma. read more

I have been going here on and off for a year. Recently I was told that my doctors referral has expired. I was told I would be contacted after they request the new referral. It's been two months and I have not been contacted. They tell me the same thing every time I call. My PCP told me that he had not received any request. There are very few good therapists here and many of the good ones left. read more

Front desk is a joke these days. I've been going to this location for more than 3 years and last year things going down at front desk. They are clueless about insurance and billing and ask you to call a number but at the same time; they are collecting pre-payment to allow you into apt!! their system is no insync with billing and they won't even attempt to use their brains to see they need to do something about it. I stopped going and would not go back until front desk get their act together. read more

Not sure why they aren't given 5 stars from everyone, but I have to myself. After recovering from back fusion surgery, the entire staff has been amazing. From the front desk, to all the PT staff, everyone is kind, caring and professional. I highly recommend giving them your business and let them take care of you. Although I gave five stars, that was just for the physical therapists. The front end staff I consider useless no great no help with the doors. No, thank you, no have a good day, just not professional people and there are three staff members getting paid to sit! Totally a waste of time and money for this company! My first time there I expected at least one of the three to say hello welcome or even how can I help you? But not one of them said a thing and never has said anything on any of my visits! I went here for about a year doing the pool exercise classes. This was back about 10 years ago, so maybe things have changed. But, I doubt it. I quit going because the class was mainly old women with sores, etc. that gave the pool some kind of fungal contaimination. Once, the pool pump motor had stopped working and there was actually scum and bubbles from one end to the other. I ended up having to go to the dr. for several different fungus infections on my chest, armpits, groin, and feet which I still have to this day. So, I stopped my membership, but had a difficult time with the front desk getting them to stop billing me. Not recommended for anyone. read more

Front desk doesn't answer phones. 4 calls and 15 minute waits each time, never talking to anyone and only to get disconnected over and over. My child was in there for a session and I asked her if anyone was at front desk or if there was a long line and maybe that's why no answer, but no. She was on her way out and her dad was on his way to get her. The front desk was sitting there talking. Therapist was great with my daughter. She was very likable and helpful. read more

First off, I love the physical therapists here. But the front desk is another story. Please don't work at a front desk if you don't like helping people. For starters, they only contact your insurance ONCE at the beginning and never again. So I hit my deductible early on, but they continued to bill me. They said they expect their clients to tell them when they hit their deductible. In my experience, most places bill your insurance first, but not them. So I have now overpaid and am going to need to get reimbursed somehow. It gets worse. They wanted me to contact my insurance to get proof that I had reached my deductible. They would not contact my insurance for me. So I called my insurance and, by the way, the insurance representative said a lot of places DO call them and not require the client to do it. In any case, the insurance representative was willing to talk to the front desk woman while I had them on the phone but she said no...they needed a physical hard copy. My insurance representative was even willing to help her get to the website (no login needed) and get the proof that I had paid my deductible but she was unwilling to do this. Why not? Do they not have a printer? So I had to go home and print a screenshot of the web page myself using information that was provided on my insurance card that the front desk could have done themselves since they took copies on my insurance card. My insurance representative was super nice and walked me through it, although it was straight forward. She also said that these people were being difficult and that it shouldn't be like this. The front desk has a sign with the phone number of their billing department. At one point, I asked if I should call them instead and the woman seemed to take pleasure in telling me that they would just say the same thing. Again, some people should not be working with customers. The whole time I felt like she'd rather be typing on her computer than assist me. read more

I have been to EDPT three different times now: once when I was ~11 (for ankle sprain) and again when I was ~22 (for back pain)... then at some point in between for pilates classes. I had such a positive experience as a child that I knew this was the only place I wanted to go when I needed PT again. My DPT was Joe. He was incredibly knowledgeable, skilled, and patient (I ask a lot of questions). The staff was always so great and my appointments always started on time. Will certainly continue going here whenever needed! Tip: they offer more services than traditional PT, so check out the website for personal training/ group fit classes/ aqua/ etc. Highly recommend. read more

Patient communication unorganized. And they blamed me for it!! I was told to fill out a form prior to my first visit. So I went to my mailbox. Found a form. Filled it, and thought it was all set. Little did I knew was the office had sent multiple different forms. I had only filled out the last one, while they really wanted the first form. While checking-in, the Patient Care Coordinator threatened not to treat me and had scolded at me for not having the form ready. That's not the way to treat people! What's the "Care" in the Patient Care job title? Why not have the forms in just one email? Have they thought about that? I demanded an apology, but there is no response. I am in physical pain (why I was prescribed physical therapy), but I'd rather endure it, than taking this psychological abuse. So I left read more

Have no complaints about the physical therapists themselves, they are more than helpful and professional. The front desk on the other hand has been off putting from the start. I called just to see if they had an appointment that would work for my father somewhat last minute, we had a change of plans. They could not even answer my question about the availability of an appointment until they knew he had insurance and would need to see the referral. I had to send both before even being told if there could possibly be an appointment. They do not seem to be patient focused, but just focused on getting their payment. Then the referral that we sent from the Dr. was not what they needed, they needed it to say their name. This is acceptable, no problem, but the DR said they have never had to do this before. We jumped through this hoop, but they could not secure an appointment until they had updated referral. It just keeps going on and never any kindness or professionalism. Unfortunately we have had to deal with Doctors a lot this last year and nothing has been as difficult or unprofessional as this front desk. Moving PT next week, not worth it. read more

02.27.2023-This low rating review is not meant for my water therapist, Jeffrey, who not only is amazing but very knowledgeable. This rating is for the facility and the management team. Without any notice, they just cancel your future scheduled appointments due to insurance issues, if any, versus allowing an individual time to investigate and resolve whatever the issue may be. The facility is in complete chaos with telephones ringing off the hook, clients filling the area waiting for assistance, etc. Just a complete mess over there. The management team are inexperienced and show little empathy to their client's well-being in recovering. Their corporate office does not respond to any inquiries and when a request is made for a response, one is told they will not respond. read more

That was a Yelp glitch - I no experience with Wendy Stedeford, who apparently worked at EDPT. I am reposting my review here, as this is where it should remain posted. For the record, 9 months after this review I still struggle daily with the medical condition this caused.) This is my first negative review ever on any social media platform although I have posted hundreds of positive reviews on TripAdvisor, Amazon, Yelp, etc. I post this as a warning to prospective clients of this business. Had I read a similar post, my life would be very different now. I began physical therapy with El Dorado Physical Therapy - specifically and solely - for frozen shoulder about a year and a half ago. Aside from that condition, I was in the best shape of my life - a daily runner, high energy athlete with NO other health concerns. Today I am in constant pain, can barely walk and have a severe neurological condition as a direct result of a manipulation done by my physical therapist. On two occasions during sessions my therapist asked if I had any pain in my hips/legs/back? Both times I replied "no" and added, "I never have any pain at all". Without my consent or knowledge, my PT did a quick manipulation on my right thigh. (While she referred to this as a "muscle enhanced therapy" what she did did not jive with Wikipedia's explanation of this procedure.) My ankle and piraformis hurt immediately (and have daily since) and about six weeks later my right foot became extremely painful. Doctors have since told me she likely hit my sciatic nerve. Unfortunately, this action triggered an extremely rare, extraordinarily painful, chronic and progressive inflammatory nerve condition. The joyous healthy life I had known is gone and I am now in constant pain and struggle to walk each day. I know this sounds extreme, but unfortunately it is true. The condition is regarded as incurable. Four things you will want to be aware of regarding El Dorado Physical Therapy: First, as mentioned above, my therapist performed a procedure without my knowledge or consent on a body part I was not referred for. I had never been to physical therapy before, but manipulating someone's body without their knowledge or understanding seems outside the scope of the physical therapist. Even worse, I clearly told her I have NO pain. While she could not have foreseen what her actions would trigger, she should not have performed this manipulation. Secondly, a few months later I requested my records from El Dorado Physical Therapy to help my doctors diagnose me. I was literally shocked to find there was absolutely no record of this procedure anywhere on my charts. I do not know if this was an intended omission or an oversight, but it has now been confirmed by two other physical therapists who reviewed the copious notes. Thirdly, I met with the director several weeks after my injury to discuss what had happened and find proper treatment. At this point, I had no idea at all of a diagnosis or the gravity of my condition. The director took me as his client, which I very much appreciated. However, my concerns about my feet turning colors and increasing pain were often questioned and met with flippant comments by him and his assistant. These symptoms should have been red flags to see a specialist and find if there was a more serious issue going on. I was told I was fixating on this and that "I should not waste my money on seeing a podiatrist because I've been told my feet are fine". Finally, I could not be more disillusioned and shocked by the way El Dorado Physical Therapy responded after I was diagnosed. I contacted the director twice after my diagnosis and they offered to do what they could to help, which seemed appropriate. However in late November I sent a letter to my therapist and in December two separate emails to the director appraising them of the severity of my condition. I also asked to use their warm therapy pool in the future if I am unable to walk. The statute of limitations for litigation had run out and I made it crystal clear legal action had never been my intent anyway. Any decent therapist would have apologized profusely and any reputable business would have offered to help. Neither my physical therapist, nor the director, nor anyone at El Dorado Physical Therapy did any of these. I never heard a word back from anyone. I had held off on posting a Yelp review through this process. Like litigation, it was not what I wanted and I simply don't like writing a negative review. However, I now believe in addition to poor business practices there was also malfeasance - and find it unconscionable they did not in any way respond to me. I want to let potential clients know "beware". While it's unlikely that anyone else will have my experience and my level of disability and pain, you should still know the factors that allowed it to happen. read more

I can't thank El Dorado Physical Therapy enough for helping me get back on my feet and carrying on with my normal life after having life threatening accident with a tree. I had four cranial fractures, broken ribs, broken back and broken hip...not fun at all. Dave Thomas and his staff got me up and walking and stronger than ever in less than four months! I highly recommend EDPT for the simplest injuries to the most complex injuries...they are the BEST! read more

OK, it's happed to me 3 times now. So, I got mad enough to post a review. Each time my doctor sends over a referral I eventually get a call from their front office woman (and I know its the same person) keep reading. Each time she called me she informs me that I need to schedule an appointment. OK, so I agree and wait..... She goes on and on about her computer and and all the therapists being booked meanwhile I'm sitting on the phone that she called me on waiting for her to book a time. I'm waiting and waiting..... After about 3-4 minutes I make the suggestion, "why don't you call me back when you find a time because I'm wide open between these times...blah and blah" . Then the tone in her voice changes and she gets indignant and says ok. Then, I never hear from her again. So, in this scenario, two people are losing. I/m losing out because I'm in pain and need therapy. Also, the owner of the business is losing out on making money on the booking. So, this front office is completely dysfunctional and inefficient and both the patient and the actual owner. Not recommended. read more

I was very fortunate to have been referred by my family doctor to Dave at El Dorado Physical Therapy for a chronic neck condition. During the last 10 years I have seen other physical therapists, tried non-traditional healing, and considered surgery. Nothing helped. After a month of working with Dave I was able to sleep through the night for the first time in over a year. Dave explained what he needed me to do and what movements he needed me to avoid. He also encouraged me to join a gym to work on strengthening my core. Every visit time was spent with Dave working on my neck and then I would work with Emily, his assistant, on exercises. Emily was also amazing. She thoroughly explained each exercise, the importance of each movement, and made sure I understood them before I left. Dave and Emily are an excellent team and have restored my hope that I could live without chronic neck pain. read more

Absolutely the best decision I made to use EDPT for my post knee surgery rehab. I have been receiving incredible care from the entire staff at EDPT for the past three months. I know without a doubt, my recovery has been based on the excellent therapy I have received. Being able to take advantage of their indoor pool and small gym attached to their facility has been instrumental and very convenient. I can't imagine using anyone else in Folsom or surrounding area for PT after this experience. Great place to go for personal fitness training. I worked with KC to get in shape and increase distance on my golf drives and softball power. What a difference! Golf ball is going further and I tripled my homerun output from last year already and it's only April. The facility is very clean and the staff is very friendly. I would recommend this place to any athlete looking to get better at their sport. read more

I had knee surgery at the end of March, and started physical therapy here in May. Brian and Heather have both been wonderful! They are really helping me make a lot of progress with my knee, and have taken the time to address other issues I am having that have an impact on my knee as well. This is a very nice facility, plus they have a really nice gym and pool. I think by now, every member of my family has been to EDPT for various issues. We've always had awesome care and would never go anywhere else. I've known Dave and Bonnie personally for 20 years and I've never had the slightest doubt about their knowledge, concern for clients, and their professionalism. Currently Dave and his staff are treating my 92 year old dad (and until recently my 94 year old mom), not the easiest job in the world because virtually everything hurts when your body has that many miles on it, but they do awesome job and my parents love them. read more

I've never written a review before but I have to take a moment and express my frustration and displeasure with the staff at El Dorado Physical Therapy. The front desk is inept, they make mistakes frequently and on several occasions failed to let the therapist know I had arrived resulting in delays of 15-20 minutes. This resulted in either a missed appointment or late for the following pool therapy. The demeanor of one front desk person in particular is condescending assuming I believe that anyone over 65 needs to be talked down to. The experience has been marred by the staffs inability to manage time and training of the front desk. read more

I actually went to physical therapy at the office in Shingle Springs, CA. Everyone I worked with there for 20 sessions was very concerned and helpful. This is a great place for therapy if you want to work with people who care and know what they are talking about.
