Small, but mighty little Mexican restaurant close to the river in Bristol Borough. They have eight or so tables inside and several outside along the sidewalk. The staff here is extremely nice and the service was quick. BYOB. The menu has many typical offerings (quesadillas, fajitas, tacos, burritos, sopes, tostadas, enchiladas, chimichangas, tamales), but also Tortas and Alambre (think fajita with cheese and bacon). They also have a wide variety of meat types - tinga, chorizo, al pastor, lengua, carnitas, barbacoa, asada, tilapia, shrimp, etc. The food had a more authentic touch here. The tacos I had ($3.25 a piece) barbacoa - tender delicious juicy beef, carnitas - tender shredded pork, lightly seasoned and al pastor - marinated pork with pineapple & onions, were all fresh, sizable and tasty. I upgraded them to supreme .52 cents extra - lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and sour cream. The horchata was fresh and a perfect mix of cinnamon, sugar, milk with a medium body. I really enjoyed it. $3.50 On another visit, I took the waitresses advice and ordered the quesabirrias - $14.95 three corn tortillas dipped in birria consommé, filled with cheese and beef birria. Served with a Mexican style consommé, topped with onions and cilantro. They were a little drippy, but I appreciated the tenderness and flavor of the beef. The consommé was flavorful and added some needed complexity. My only critique is a lack of spice and pepper. In my humble opinion some chilis, jalapeno and hot sauce options at the table would take things up a notch. I really do not like giving bad reviews but I have to in this case. I have been wanting to get here and finally did. To start with there were little brown ants crawling on the wall in my both and 1 or 2 on my table. Big turn off. Also flies from the door being open. The menu was authentic Mexican food as I had to ask what most items were. The waitress was helpful. I started with the chips and queso for my meal I went with the Alambres. I am not sure if it was the "Mexican" food or the onions, or chicken? But within 30 minutes of eating it was not a fun time. This is a BYOB restaurant and they offer outdoor seating. read more

Unfortunately we had a most unpleasant experience at El Limon today. We were 4 adults and 2 children. We were too many for their booths but we found a table that had a chair at the end & 3 people say I'm one said and 2 on the other. It wasn't too long before we noticed how warm the restaurant was in this very hot day. It was really rather miserable. The place was packed with customers and only one waitress who was harried and exhausted doing her best. (Later a second waitress arrived but by then she wasn't helpful for us.) The food was pretty good & most everyone was ok with their order. We particularly liked the guac, chips and pico platter we shared. The food came out spaced quite far apart but I appreciated they didn't hold all orders at the table before bringing them out. I would give the food 3.5; service 2 (not her fault there was only one server though) & atmosphere 1. No AC in 90 plus weather means don''t open today. Ordered tacos like I usually do for pick up. I usually go to el limon in Bensalem and in my opinion, I think Bensalem is a better location. It was just something different for the sauces that kind of threw it off for me. Don't get me wrong..it's still good, just sauce is different. Service was great, order through the phone and it was ready within 10-15 minutes. Street parking just a heads up. Restaurant looks very nicely decorated and clean. Decided to get some dinner here after getting my retro gaming fix up the street at " players only arcade " on the corner across the street, we get some tostadas, birria tacos,shrimp tacos, cheese enchiladas and a veggie burrito, all of the food came out fast and hot and it all had great taste, the one free margaritas was strong but good, the service was nice and polite, it's a little small on the inside but very clean and full of Mexican art work, the seating is spacious and they have outside seating aswell. In general, this location isn't as nice as others like Ambler or Conshohocken but the food is pretty much the same even if everything else is slightly worse. The main reason for an OK rating is the hostess here is rude. I get this is a family business but maybe don't depend on your second brother-in-law's youngest daughter with a shit attitude to interact with customers. This was my first time at this location; I've been to the Bensalem location a few times. The food was actually really good. The meat was nice and tender. I really enjoyed the Guacamole. I would have taken a whole container home if I could . Some times Mexican food hurts my stomach, but this place surprisingly didn't!!! The service was very quick. There are very good things about this place and very bad ones. First the good: The guac and pico de gallo app is excellent and very affordable. Very well made. The carnitas and chorizo tacos are also great, and you can have all tacos simple or supreme (with crema, lettuce, queso blanco), very good, tasty and A LOT of meat. Great price on those too. The free margaritas are GREAT, and they don't give you little alcohol just because they're free, they are frozen and very good! Now, the bad things: tacos al pastor have 'canned' pineapple, and not grilled!, which makes them a 'one star for me', even if the meat is delicious (which it is), no way canned pineapple is acceptable. The churros are not made in the house, they are store bought and as a result they are hard, not very good (2 stars). The coffee came in these beautiful Mexican 'jarritos' (jugs) but it was instant coffee, which it's a ZERO star.. the worst, please don't do that!!! I suggest, do not sell coffee, and instead offer Mexican chocolate with the churros, and make the churros in house, and that would be a winner. And finally, when we ask if they could change the horrible ghetto music, the beautiful young server who was friendly and nice, said that 'she couldn't do that' and raised the volume on purpose to annoy us since she knew we hated the horrendous music that has nothing to do with the nice Mexican ambiance... she made it so loud, it was hard to talk. That was a very bad attitude toward the customers. (We still tipped her 23% in cash) because we didn't want to punish her immature behavior because she works hard and the restaurant business is very hard on all employees and physically demanding too) read more

Went to El Limon after trying to decide where to eat when Bristol Theatre's rendition of "Chicken and Biscuits", a fun and funny show about family relationships, was over. Weren't sure we wanted Mexican, but after reading reviews, seeing the menu prices, and looking at pictures of the dishes, we decided we were in the mood. Before we went in (the restaurant is right across from the theatre), we decided to walk over to Got Wine? to grab a bottle or two of BYOB's. It was a little bit of a walk, but the day was beautiful and I thought it was worth it to get the metabolism up and burn some of those future carbs off. The restaurant is small and very cute inside. One side is for table service, the other for takeout. First, we ordered salsa and guac chips ($5.95) and hubby ordered the vegetable sope ($4.50). We were confused when the sope came out, because we thought it would be soup. Oops! I mixed up "sopa" with "sope". No problem. It looked delicious and hubby said it was good. I ordered a ground beef tostada ($4.50) and a pork tamale ($3.75), because I always order one if it's on the menu. They bring back fond memories. We both ordered the Alambres, grilled chicken and barbacoa ($12.95 ea.) We ordered side dishes of rice ($4.25) and refried beans ($4.95) and extra guac ($3.25). Both dishes came with 4 tortillas, so we basically made our own tacos with the Alambres, rice, beans, guac, and salsa. For desserts ($6.95), hubby got the flan and at the last minute I decided on the churros (4) with vanilla ice cream. Plenty of food went home! All of our food came out hot, delicious, and generous portions! See my pics! There were plenty of meat choices for the dishes. They also had a lot of burrito variations. Maybe we'll try one of those next. Our total bill with tax was $75.21. Note: There appears to be a 1% upcharge when using a credit card. We have had this place saved on one of my lists as one of the places we wanted to try. We were in Bristol for one of the Bristol Stroll Sundays and decided to check it out. During the Bristol Stroll days, they do have a tent outside with food and drinks, but we decided to eat in the restaurant. When you walk in, if you go to the right, it is to order/pickup for takeout. On the left is the sit down restaurant area. We were a little confused at first if we ordered at the right and sat on the left and didn't get a specific answer, so we decided to just sit down and see how that played out. After a few minutes a server came over and gave us a menu. We decided to order four tacos to share; two al pastor, one chorizo, and one tinga chicken. We were a little disappointed they didn't bring out any chips and salsa, as most places do serve complimentary chips. Our order came out fairly quickly. I love cilantro, but they are definitely heavy handed with it. So beware if you are sensitive to cilantro. The al pastor tacos were the star of the ones we got. Although there was very little pineapple. The flavoring of them were very good though and the meat was pretty tender. The tinga chicken was a little too smokey tasting for my liking, and the chorizo was fine (boyfriend liked it, I am just not a fan of chorizo in general). read more

Just had lunch at El Limon. I was hungry as it was 1:30 and my first meal of the day, so I decided to go for options. Ordered 2 tacos al pastor, 2 tamales, and 2 shrimp sopes. It was a lot but i conquered the meal! One great thing about the menu is that you can order many items (tacos, sopes, tamales) individually as opposed to 3 at a time. This way you can try many different variations on one plate. The pastor was well seasoned and along with a squeeze of line and the salsa verde they were delicious. Had the other one with the spicier red salsa which I think i liked better due to the heat level. The tamales were possibly top 5 I have eaten. Not over cooked and hard, the masa was just the right consistency and I was amazed at how flavorful the chicken was. Normally the chicken is not as pronounced but here due to the spices and marinated used it came to the forefront and was well worth the empty delicious masa carbs! The sopes were super fresh and just the right thickness. The shrimp were cooked well and were plentiful per sope. I would leave off the fried beans (which were good) but took away from the texture of the dough for me personally. I will 100% be ordering these again. I've heard it said 3rd times the charm. Not here, it ain't! Yelled at from the time we sat down. A woman yelled angrily out the door that she wasn't serving anyone outside until 4 pm. It was 3:27 pm, we drove almost 60 minutes, another friend drove over 2 hours to meet us there, so we decided to wait. we had a puppy with us, and we'd been there before, sat outside, and was served before 4 pm. We were surprised at her behavior, she didn't have any customer service skills to call on and didn't make an effort. (Maybe the waitress was just pms'ing. I'm a girl, I can say that). Lol. But seriously, she was a very angry person. **There is no signage advising outdoor seating only after 4 pm.** Anyway, we decided to stay because it was my birthday. Horrible experience. We really should have left immediately, but damn the food is good. At one point, I asked the server if she was OK? that's how badly we were being treated and spomen to short and curt. My friend went to the restroom and asked if we could at least have some water and see the menu, so when 4 pm rolls around, we could order. We were all thirsty and hungry after the long drives. The waitress came with a worse attitude, said my friend had an attitude and asked for water and menus so we'd get a jump on ordering and be ready at 4.. She claimed she didn't understand why but left the menus. A bit after 4 pm she came back and we ordered waters and Margheritas while we waited and waited. There were 3 of us. Well we waited so long for our drinks orders to be taken, the server was so rude when she finally came back with our Margheritas, we decided on appetizers, when they finally arrive she practically threw them on the table. We were given no utensils or napkins. I had to dig in my bag for a napkin that I shared with my 2 friends. We decided to leave while we ate at our appetizers, we asked for the bill when she finally returned to take our orders, paid our bill, when another woman came out, yelled at us for drinking the "free margheritas", I explained we came here specifically for my birthday to spend our money we've been yelled at twice, spoken to rudely, had angry guacamole, it wasnt even prepared correctly, there was a huge half of a hard avocado plopped into the narrow serving dish on top of the guacamole that was prepared correctly, and without utensils me and my friends used our chips to push the available guacamole onto each others chips. It was a mess and messy. The woman continued to yell, and I told her I'd write a review about how we've been treated. She yelled, "I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU WRITE! I responded that it would be the truth. The whole truth and nothing but the truth." She adamantly responded in the same tone, "I don't care!" And continued to talk big sh%t. Shame on y'all at El Limon. I just wanted a good birthday dinner with my 2 friends that I hadn't spent time with in a long while. Them heiffers didn't ever say happy birthday either... at least that... nope We eventually landed at the Mill Street Cantina on the corner where I was told happy birthday by the staff, then smoothly and so beautiful serenaded for my birthday by Juan. So lovely. Made my day. Definitely made up for the bad service and disrespectful employees at El Limon. We sat outside, and our puppy was even given a water bowl. Very nice set up for this latest addition to the El Limon franchise in Bucks County. Radcliffe Street was already a great riverside lane in Bristol, but is even better with the presence of the small dining room (8 tables/booths) and cool outdoor curbside seating of this Mexican house. Definitely perfect for a still warm late September autumn night. Really liked the Tacos Dorados with the combination of shredded chicken, mashed potato and spices, deep fried and topped with lettuce, tomato and queso blanco, and choice of red/green salsa from table rockets. Firm crunch, followed by smooth chew and blended flavors. Yet, @ 3 for $9., it seemed overpriced, as was the tempting and delicious Tres Leches dessert @$5.95. Good taste and texture, but I won't be that indulgent next time. The Horchata drink was cool and refreshing with the taste of vanilla and fresh cinnamon right down to the final suck through plastic straw. Maybe I need to accept the pandemic inflation of late, but I still have optimism that prices will come down once the supply chain amps up and evens out. For now I appreciate the chance to get out and enjoy a meal beyond my own kitchen. read more

The newly renovated restaurant is small but very cute; the decor immediately puts you in the mood for Mexican fare. They have outside dining as well. The owners and servers are very welcoming and friendly. They were patient with me as I practiced my Spanish with them. Food is prepared fresh to order and delivered hot. We started with the chips, salsa and guacamole. We had to order a second round because we were fighting over the guacamole. The fajita plate was piled high with tender beef and chicken. Chicken Tacos Dorados were crispy and delicious. Tortilla salad with Tinga chicken (chicken adobo) was fantastic, especially the dressing. Tacos Al Pastor were loaded with pork and were definitely a hit. I would imagine all the items on the menu are good. We will be back often to try everything! read more
