Dinner started with some delicious bread and dipping oils. For dinner I ordered the Tuna entree and it was DELICIOUS! The tuna was seared and cooked to a medium rare and served on top of a bed of vegetables. It was so fresh and delicious. We washed it down with the house sangria, which I watched the make at the bar right in front of me. So I know it was fresh and it was the best sangria I've ever had. Decor was modern and upscale. And the service was great! Our waitress was kind and patient with my terrible Spanish and our food came out quick. This place was definitely more expensive than your typical food in Mexico, but Guanajuato is a tourist town, so it was expected. It was also not expensive compared to American dinner prices. It was about 900 pesos for us all to eat and have drinks, which is about 55 American dollars! Overall, I definitely recommend stopping here for dinner any night you're here!

I never expect much from a house wine, but this one was the best wine we've had in Mexico. Not saying much I know, but still, it was yum. My margarita was perfect. A perfect balance of flavors. Not too week, not too strong. Not too sweet, but clear sweet citrus flavors. Then we shared their signature salad. It was an unusual combination of ingredients and yet very tasty. My partner and I were both hankering for pizza, so we took a risk. Is there good pizza in GTO? The answer is a definitive yes. I got their signature pizza. Except for the pistachios, which I love but we're a tad weird on a pizza, it was amazing. I'm not usually a thin crust lover, but it was perfectly done. My partner gambled on a pepperoni pizza. It wasn't pink! It seems like much pepperoni in this region is some strange pink substance, but not here. True tasty Italian pepperoni. We were too full to consider desert, but I look forward to going back to try it. Our service was good. Overall, a perfect dinner.

Located on the second floor right in front of the park where the mariachi plays and next to the iconic Teatro Juárez, this spot offers not only fantastic food but also one of the best views in town. Picture a charming, rustic setting overlooking the lively street scene below. La Trattoria blends Italian and Mexican flavors beautifully. I had the tuna appetizer and shrimp tacos both absolutely delicious and full of fresh, bold flavor. Others at our table enjoyed a variety of pasta and seafood dishes, and everyone left impressed. Los Campos is located on the south-eastern side of Centro Historico district and is an easy walk from Jardin de la Union. What drew us to Los Campos was the referenced diversity of their menu. My companion eats chicken and fish, while I am a vegan and plant-based. Their menu has multiple vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. While the flavors were pretty good, it was the plate presentation that was exceptional and we both felt that Los Campos was a little too pretentious for us. I was limited to order the Chaminones con Mezcal. Mushrooms flambeed in Mezcal with orange zest and dried chile. My wife, although not excited to try, did have the Burrito de Cerdo Ahumado en Salsa Colorado. It wasn't that Los Campos was too fancy, it was more like we, as diners, were more comfortable in other settings. We would suspect that diners from the United States or from Europe would fall in love with the avant-garde interiors and plate presentations. From all accounts, that all seems to be true, it's just our style. Our food was good and was plated expertly and I don't have any issues recommending Los Campos for a romantic dinner out for a couple.

They also do a 'bait-and-switch' with you regarding the trompo. The place has "trompo" in the name and in the logo, and you see it right there in the kitchen, but the pastor meat you get isn't from the trompo. The pastor actually tasted more like chicken than pork also. They also initially forgot our cervezas and we had to ask for them. Yet on a positive note, the salsas are extremely spicy and delicious. But overall, this felt more like a tourist trap being right in the center of Guanajuato City rather than a serious taco place, so I'd seek out other options.
