We came on a Monday just after opening at 11 am, but the restaurant filled up quickly. Our waitress served us drinks promptly and checked on us regularly. The free warm tortilla chips and refreshing salsa were great. My family of four ordered Texas fajita lunch special, lunch special number 6 with chicken enchilada, chickenchilaquiles, and churros. It was a lot of food and we brought some home. Bathrooms were clean, staff was attentive, and we were in and out within 40 minutes and back on the road to Atlanta in no time. We pass through metter often and have had decent meals here but the past 3 or 4 were meh and tonight was terrible . Taco Bell across the street would've better food . So I come here often when I'm at the house. Always good food and good service for years. Today they had a new fried avocado w bacon and shrimp inside! May I say fantastic!!! This is truly a mouth pleasing dish, although we did order a dollop of sour cream for the top that brought out even more flavor. This is evidently the first time they have made this and not on the menu...just a daily special, but certainly something to add to the menu. We also always get is a chunky avocado dip that's not on the menu.... Also a fajita supreme in a crock baked w pineapple. Today I tried something different and glad of it!! read more

I made a yelp account just to review this restaurant. After not being acknowledged for a good few minutes after walking in, the host wordlessly led us to a table. He gave me one menu, ignored my mother, and walked away. A while later he came back with another menu and threw it in front of her. The layout of the restaurant is awkward, and the a/c is set to freezing cold (the fans going full speed didn't help). I ordered the Enchilada Rancheras (which I normally order at Mexican restaurants) and they were the worst I have ever tried. They were bland, drowned in sauce, and all tasted the same. The refried beans were extremely liquid and the whole dish had a weird consistency. It was supposed to come with Guacamole, but what I got was only about a tea spoon full of old, sour and odd-tasting Guac (see picture). The waitress was rude and extremely slow. She also seemed to have logged us into the wrong table spot because we got the wrong drinks and food at first. The food also took a long time to get to us. To finish up this great experience, we had to wait a good half hour to get the check (from a different waitress) which was then the check of the people sitting two tables down, since we were still logged as the wrong table. Do yourself a favor and skip this place; Zaxby's down the road would probably be a better experience for your lunch break. read more

I finally had one say she was going to get me a menu and water, they were short, 15 minutes later, no menu or water, I left. WTF. Great Mexican food. Loved the guacamole. All the employees were super friendly, fast and attentive. The owner made his way around to speak with the customers/us. The food was great!! I ordered tacos al pastor and my hubby ordered Fajitas locas which had beef, chicken, shrimp and chorizo with zucchini, pineapple, onions, bell peppers and mushrooms, oh so tasty!! I also ordered a Texas Margarita. The strongest Margarita ever. The owner said the blended Margarita was stronger than on the rocks. They even have RV and Bus parking in the back that's a plus since we've been traveling thru here in our 5th wheel. We will definitely be back ASAP. Stopped here for lunch on my way to Savannah. The building was an old Wendy's, which was a little strange but I thought maybe it was one of those divey places that has really good food. Boy was I wrong! All of the staff was very friendly, but the food was terrible. It looked and tasted like it all came from a can. Everything was watery and looked like glop on my plate. Everything was great here! I was really hungry and wanted to try several different dishes. My waitress, Brittany, was very helpful. I started out with their Mexican-style guacamole which I mashed up more and mixed in some extra cilantro, fresh lime juice and some of their very good complimentary salsa and then it was even better! Their Mexican-style version is chunkier than their regular guacamole and the Mexican-style comes with house-fried flour chips. Brittany was kind enough to bring me a sample of the regular style so I'd know which I would prefer to order next time; I would order the regular version next time, as it has more flavor and is more mashed up. Both versions are very fresh though and I did enjoy the large house-made flour chips. Next I ordered a single tamale, which has a chicken-filled interior with cheese, ground beef and a red sauce on top that I enjoyed. Then I ordered their seafood enchiladas that have a creamed spinach sauce on top. I was mistakenly led to expect a shrimp, scallops and fish filling but instead they had cut up pieces of shrimp and tilapia inside. I'm not that fond of tilapia but at least it wasn't overcooked and the shrimp was good; I enjoyed the spinach cream sauce so much that I ordered more of it. I could taste some garlic, which I love, in the first enchilada but wished there was more garlic in the other 2. And I would be willing to pay more if they filled the enchiladas with scallops, shrimp and real crab meat, but they were still enjoyable. I also ordered a single pastor taco with a crispy corn taco shell; it was the best tasting pastor version of the pork I have ever had. It has small pieces of grilled pineapple in it that taste great along with the pork marinade and grilled onions. I didn't care for the crispy taco shell and just ate the meat by itself since the flavors were so good by themselves. I was stuffed but asked about their desserts and whether their version of flan is made with condensed milk or just regular milk, as I don't care for the heavier versions made with condensed milk which has some undesirable ingredients in it, like hydrogenated oil, that I don't want to eat or like the taste of; theirs is made with condensed milk, so I didn't order any dessert but later realized that the grilled pineapple in the pastor was so good that I would have loved to have some big slices of grilled pineapple for dessert, by themselves, or over ice cream. I think that they should add that to the menu! They probably would have grilled me some pineapple but I thought of requesting it too late, as they were already cleaning the kitchen. My bill was only $22 for a lot of good food and I walked out with a lot of leftovers; so this restaurant gives you good food and portions for a good value. read more

Now for the surprise of my vacation. This little hole in the wall spot just off the I16 in Metter, turned into a nice dining experience. First off the staff was friendly and polite. Our server even gave as good as she got with my father's odd sense of humor. Nicely done! The food was hot and flavorful. The sangria was excellent. Now, the real surprise was a Parmesan chicken dish that my mother ordered. I plan to attempt to make this back home. Worth the effort and the money. When I spoke to the chef about the sauce, he blushed and apologized that his mother would not let him share the recipe. Not even for someone from the other end of the country. I told him I understood and thanked him for a nice evening. Worth the stop. read more

We were returning, stopping in Metter for gas and a brief break and the Restaurant was very busy.We asked and the folks at the station said the food was good.The rain was just starting up really good as we came in.All the tables were full,so they seated us out front.We looked over the menu and ordered alittle comfort food.The crowd thinned down and the waitress said the food would be out shortly.She came by 5 minutes later and yes it was almost ready.Then she arrives..... The jalapeno poppers were cool,not hot ,not warm,just cool. The same can't be said of the sampler The quesidillo was Luke warm and the other two items looked like they had been cooked at least once but probably twice.The empanadas looked good but they were totally dried out. The outer AP was totally burned at one end. It will not be someplace I would recommend. We stopped in on our trip home from the beach and from the cheese dip, to the fresh salsa, the service and the food-- everything was great. I got the ranchero quesadilla which is a new item according to the menu and it had so much flavor and was so great. This was truly the worst example of white, working-class pseudo-Mex food I've ever eaten. The beef soft tacos were swimming in some sort of liquid, and the cheese enchiladas had an unpleasantly sticky, gummy texture. Whatever it was that filled the enchilada, it was a yellow-orange, plasticky solid. It had a microwaved quality reminiscent of a Lean Cuisine frozen dinner. Quesadillas should be well browned and crisp on the outside. This one had barely hit the grill before being slapped on my plate, and was held together with more of the gummy, white queso cheese that was found guilty of smothering the enchilada. To its credit, the vegetables filling the quesadilla were fresh, flavorful, and well cooked. The dining room was full of happy people, so either it was a bad day for this restaurant, or people in Eastern Georgia actually LIKE this sort of food. Some helpful hints: Add rice and/or cilantro to the shredded cheese filling the enchilada to lighten the texture, and smother it in tomato-based enchilada sauce rather than queso asadero. Cut the cheese inside the quesadilla by half and grill it until it's brown and crispy on the outside. Again- No smothering in cheap, sticky cheese! Cheese is an accent, not a weapon of war. Let the fresh vegetables drain after grilling (or let the liquid reduce in a pan) before incorporating them into the dish to get rid of the watery ocean on the plate. read more
