Today I order a chicken soup, I was hungry, n it was the closes place to me, so I decided to buy food there. The chicken soup has zero flavor in it, I'm assuming they just put tomate sauce water n shred chicken to make it look like real chicken soup, but is far from that. It has no salt, no condiment's, no flavor at all! They didn't put me a spoon on my to go order, they didn't put me lime, or napkins! This is one of the worst places to eat! I really hope they pay more effort on what they doing and the service they giving!! This was an okay experience. I have been coming to this particular rest for years (whenever I would come to visit my grandmother who lived in the surrounding Vidalia area) and I used to think that this was a really good Mexican restaurant, but this past time that I went with my husband I thought it was rather subpar. The service was really lackluster, and the me server who seated seated us seemed to not want to to be there at all. The young girl who actually ended up being our server was pleasant enough, but she seemed to be the only o e actually taking orders and serving people in a restaurant that was half full, so she it would sometimes take her a bit a time to get back to us. Now for the food. The sweet tea was downright awful. I can usually handle most sweet tea, even if it overly sweet, or not quite sweet enough, or even some that have gin slightly bad, but this was rancid. It was completely non drinkable. My husband had to get something else to drink, and I would have, but again (not really her fault) we had a hard time getting ahold of our waitress to get replacement drinks so I just drink as little of it as I could. I got one of their vegetarian plates, which had a cheese enchilada, bean burrito, and Mexican rice as a side. The cheese enchilada was good but the red enchilada sauce tasted canned, but it was still pretty tasty. The bean burrito was refried beans which is fine, I love refried bean burritos, but the beans tasted off putting, like they used too much lard, or again like they the beans had started to go bad or something, and the sauce on top did nothing to help it. The rice was both dry and gummy at the same time. My husband had a steak burrito that was dry, and bland in flavor, and they actually gave him beef and not the steak he ordered, but again we could not get ahold of the waitress to correct the problem, so he ate it, but he did not enjoy it. He also had the same dry, gummy rice, and therefore did not really eat any of it. We did get chips and salsa, and ordered a large cheese dip. Neither of us tried the salsa, but the chips tasted stale, and the cheese dip was not warm enough, although at least it was hit clumpy, it was just hot/warm, and really did not taste like anything. In summary I would say that I was really disappointed in this visit because this used to be a really good Mexican restaurant, but this visit did not endear it me anymore. read more

My husband, mother-in-law, and I went to vallartas for lunch Friday 12/22/23. We were seated in a timely manner. Our waitress, the one with long blonde hair, took our drink order and food order. And that was the last we saw of her. Someone else dropped off our chips and salsa. He didn't even smile. Someone else brought our food. Not even a hello. No drink refills. I had to flag down another waitress and ask for more tea. She didn't smile or speak. So when I went to pay for our meal, I very calmly said "we had terrible service. We didn't have a waitress, the food was greasy, and no one here is friendly." I kid you not the cashier told me that my waitress went on break as soon as we were seated. My husband and I used to eat there a lot because it is comfort food for me. They treated us like garbage. We tipped decently too. So I'm going to give y'all some advice, drive about 2 miles down the road to Rio Grande and get the best service and food Vidalia has to offer. read more

Took the family out for dinner. The service was good and very nice. The food on the other hand was just okay. It really didn't have the flavor that one would expect from Mexican food. This was the first Mexican restaurant in 4 states I have the privilege of dining at that charged for cheese for the set up. Was asked if we were ready to order, but was not given a menu or instructions to use bar code to access the menu. Pollo Con Crema was flavorful. Their beans had no flavor at all. Service was poor. Our drinks ran dry and had to wave the waiter down to get refills (not busy, more than 1X noticed our waiter on his phone), 1 order was wrong (took order by memory did not right it down or double check it), waited for the correction. Food was tepid in temperature and was not brought out together. Probably won't visit again when I'm in town. Still left 10% tip, usually leave 25%, but again service was poor. read more

Horrible! Horrible service!! They got their last dollar from me. Got second class service from a second class restaurant. Some so called important people (nice people because I know them) came into the restaurant much later than us and not only did they get their drinks before us, they received full service before we got our drinks. Wow!!! When asked about it, the manager said "we're busy". I was about to walk out but my group pleaded with me to stay, but I'm finished with them and Rios Mexican Restaurant which is owned by the same people. I was spoiled growing up out West, but I can handle Vallarta's as long as I don't try to compare it to the Mexican food out there. And some of the time it's as though they don't have a clue about Mexican food, the servers aren't very attentive, and the restaurant looks as though a table or chair hasn't been wiped down all day long? I had to give this place the full 5 stars for their patience. When we were teenagers, and I'm sure they still do it, we would go sit in this restaurant for hours, eating chips, drinking water, raising hell. Then we'd leave without ordering anything. We were so selfish and rude. I'm so sorry Vallarta. I hope this review helps. i am a resident of CA so when it comes to Mexican food, my expectations are quite high. my meal consisted of the 'nachos machos', chicken soft tacos and a side of refried beans. the nachos were mediocre, but the tacos and beans were all sorts of disgusting. this meal, in particular, cannot compare with the quality/flavor that CA has to offer and the establishment would not survive if it were anywhere near the west coast. it baffles me that the local residents are fond of it, but then again, I only came across three Mexican establishments in 'bloody' tombs county. need to find some tasteful Mexican food else curl up, rot and die in a corner somewhere. read more

Overall the food is average, not what I would call great mexican food. Many times my friends have gone here and found hair and even rocks in their food. Normally service is great, but the server Eduardo is overall the most rude person I have ever met. Telling the customer they need "to learn how to order right" is unaccpetable. I obviously ordered my food right seeing as I get the same meal every time at any mexican restaraunt. He did not write the order down and told me that I did not order what I always order and proceeded to tell me he would charge me to fix HIS mistake. Took forever to get our food. The waiter seemed to have an attitude or perhaps he was just too busy. We seemed to have to remind him to get drinks, refill drinks and refills our salsas. We have had good experiences and bad experiences at this place over the years. Sometimes it is clean and sometimes not. Waiters are nice and prompt sometimes and sometimes they don't even care. Chips are fresh sometimes and sometimes not. Don't expect owner to admit he is wrong, even when waiter says he has been having complaints all day about stale chips. He will still tell you that chips are very fresh....NOT! Have seen critters crawling on the chairs and told staff and they just laughed and did nothing about it. Did not eat there for several years due to this. You may get everything you asked for or you may not. I guess it is just according to how the waiter feels that day. Lol read more
