Wow, super fresh tasting food. Feels really authentic inside. I found this place on Yelp while driving through so I stopped in and got a few tacos. You go up to a window and order your food, but you can see like an auntie and uncle back there cooking it up. I got asada and lengua tacos. First of all, the tortilla was the best tortilla I've ever had. They're light and really fresh tasting. The meat is not overly seasoned. It's cooked well and the flavors shine through. I visited Emporia to visit family, we wanted to try different places around town. Was not impressed. This a Mexican Food place that sells pupusas. ( thats a Salvadorian dish) I had some and did not like them. I know they were Mexican, but they were bland. The salsa was not good, and the curtido that is usually my favorite when eating pupusas was not good at all. I added salt, which made things more eatable, but was very disappointed. My daughter had the pupusa plate with beans and rice. Ya the beans and rice were bland also. The rest of my family loved it. Not sure if maybe my dissatisfaction came from me expecting the pupusas I am used to, but honestly I don't think so. I also had an horchata and was disgusted. Tasted old or fake , like packaged. They have 2 locations in Emporia, but next time I would rather try another Mexican food place than eating here again. read more

This place is a glorious ma and pa diner! I should've taken pictures, however their food is absolutely Fantabulous! I figured I'd try something new, so I ordered the tostada de ceviche! It's cold (which was surprising to me anyway) and tasty. My friend couldn't finish her chicken quesadilla because it qas huge, I I finished it and again it was tasty! I am Latina and from Katy Texas so I am always looking for authentic food when I travel. I found this place looking for food where I was staying. It's a small purple house. The food was great, homemade corn gorditas, and pupsas so good. Also, good street tacos and burritos. All the reviews have it right - this place is straightforward, has a simple menu, and is delicious! I was hoping to try the pozole but it was all gone for the day. I will be back another day to try it. I decided on the combo platter with 2 tacos - one beef, one chicken. Served with rice and beans, these street style tacos were excellent! So glad to find this place (thanks to yelp). Enjoyed a delicious and hot off the grill pupusa with cabbage on the side. I prefer cabbage that has been marinated and is 'juicier', but this was pretty good. And cheap. They also have a huge variety of Jarrito's flavors for an authentic refreshment (Tamarindo anyone?) and desserts of Flan or Tres Leches. I had the tres leches and it was perfect -- not too sweet, and not too gooey, just right. Be prepared to point to the picture on the photo menu next to the register, or order in Spanish. And bring cash (no cards accepted). read more

It would of gotten a 4 star review if they had beer. The tacos were excellent and the prices were okay. I would have happily paid a little more for some slightly bigger portions. Kid working there keeps saying they are going to get a liquor or cereal malt beverage license but has never gotten one.
