Called in an order to find out the ACP was twice the cost of a previous visit. I last visited probably a year ago. I know why now. I asked for Chicken ACP with flour tortillas. The person on the phone asked me if I wanted flour tortillas or corn. I said flour. When I arrived and then took my food home, I found that I received steak ACP and corn tortilla chips mixed with it. Thanks for the steak though it was like leather. The hostess explained the price increase was due to new management. If they gonna raise the price at least make the food good. Then to top it off I cannot get anyone to answer my calls. I would not be here if not for that. This was actually the worst $20.28 I ever spent. read more

Great food and love how the inside looks never really had any issues since going there

My daughter used to go to this place when she was in college but it was in a different location. She wanted to go back and try it again while visiting me. It was a Saturday afternoon and sad to say there was only one table of 4 in the place. Our waitress was very friendly and seated us as soon as she saw us. We started off with the White cheese dip. It was good. I had the tacos Carne Asada (3) at $7.50 but I swear the menu said $5.50 because it was just the tacos, no rice and beans. They are generous with the meat but it had no flavor and was dry. I had to squeeze lime on it, salt it, and add salsa. I asked for pico gailo and they charged me $2. Daughter got extra sour cream for $1. My daughter was disappointed and did not eat all her Burrito fajita. She said it was just okay. But she lives in California and you can't find good Mexican food anywhere but there. The sad thing is that it looks good but is not. Sorry but we will not be back. read more

I've eaten here a few times since there is limited restaurants in Mount Olive. Tonight I did Taco Tuesday. Taco meat had no seasoning but what can you expect for $.99 tacos. Probably won't be back for Taco Tuesday!! The other times I've come for lunch meals in lunch special seem to be just ok but salty. Not sure if my taste are just expecting more from a Mexican restaurant but then again it's Mount Olive! read more

This place is seriously nasty. Service is ok, not great. Food had clearly been cooked hours ago then warmed up in the microwave. Just so bad. Ordered lunch special at 1:10. Finished our meal & finally got check. The waitress was also serving as the cashier. When paying she said lunch special time was over. She said we would have to pay regular price because we were paying after 2:00. Never heard this one before. The servers were very pleasant and the food was served quickly. Unfortunately, it was the absolute worst Mexican food I've ever eaten. Ever. The enchilada sauce tasted like spaghetti sauce (I even gave my friend a taste, who confirmed it tasted like spaghetti sauce). The tamale had that distinctive "microwave" flavor from being heated quickly (and it was that weird fluffy, hard texture you get from a microwave). We stopped here on our way through town while on a road trip and I have to say, I feel sorry for people living in this town if this is your idea of a Mexican restaurant. Oof... read more

Looks like most Mexican restaurants in the area, nothing out of the way. The service is okay. You get value for the price, and the food is tasty. I have not been very adventurous with their menu quite yet but I am open to trying new options soon. The steak salad was great and a very large portion of steak and salad. This place is a good quality Mexican style restaurant. It is authentic and the seating area is well maintained. The prices are pretty reasonable, my chicken, cheese , rice and dish was delicious and a portion big enough to take some home. They provide salsa and chips to start. Everyone in Mount Olive goes crazy about this place, and I've never understood why. When I lived in NC, I used to think that I hated Mexican food. I've since moved to Tucson Arizona and discovered that I don't hate Mexican food, but that the kind that El Mazatlan has is sub-par. Nothing stands out here. Menu needs some simplifying (it's overwhelming). Left my to go Coke & went back for it (just stepped outside when I remembered I left it on my table) but lady cleaning my table has already cleared it. I asked her if I can have my the go cup, she said I should look for my waiter and ask him for it (huh?!). A well-trained staff would have gotten me a to go cup with no questions asked. This used to be our "go to" place near home to eat. However, the past 6mos or so it seems like the quality of food and service has gone downhill. Went tonight for supper and they forgot my hubby's salad fixings for his fajitas and his fajitas were cool when they arrived to the table. My chimichangas were good, though. The cook offered to fix him a new plate, but, by the time the waitress came back to ask how our food was, I was half finished. This restaurant was amazing about 15 years ago then it moved to Mt. Olive which I firmly believe is the place where all horrid tasteless overpriced restaurants live. This place is great. We eat here at least once a week because it is one of the few local eateries in this area. The staff is friendly and my three year old little boy loves their chips and salsa! I recommend the chicken fajitas and the cheese dip. I think this place is owned by the same people that own El Mazatlan in Clinton, NC. The two restaurants are worlds apart though. We have never been happy with a meal at the Clinton location so we drive over to Mt. Olive for lunch and dinner instead. They may use the same recipes, but the food is so much better in Mt. Olive. We use to go to this place right much but not any more! We came in around 4pm on a Saturday and was waited on fairly quick and got our drinks and chips like usual. Placed an order for our kids so theirs would be cooled down by the time my husband and I got ours. Our waiter was good until a crowd of (what we think was) a Mexican Church group come in and then we were not even thought of any more. Our food took forever to come out and when it did finally come to us it was like it had just been took out of the refirgerater! So the guy at the cash regester noticed we were not happy and had some other waiter to come over to check on us. He took our food and said he would make it right......yeah, he made it right...put it right in the microwave and heated it up! It was hot when it come back to the table but so dry and covered with more salty cheese. No discount, only a we sorry, we make it right next time! .....but NO there will not be a next time for us!! If I wanted some food throwed in the microwave, I would of stayed home and not of payed $10 or more a plate for it! read more
