This cutie locally food-focused restaurant sits on the north end of the island. The breeze in the back feels fresh and clean. You order first and then find a spot to make yourself comfortable. When traveling it can be hard to find a meal that truly feels refreshing and grounding, but Chaya and Cacao offers just that. Our digestion was in need of some TLC and we were grateful to see local kombucha and fermented foods on the menu. The apple and coffee kombucha is so refreshing and crisp. The iced matcha latte and iced sweet chai are also high on our list. The falafel bowl is balanced well leaving you feeling satisfied, but not heavy. We love the Caribbean bowl which has sweet plantains, rice, beans, mango, fibrous greens, sweet mango, and grounding potatoes. The avocado toast was the best I have ever had with various well-matched flavors working in perfect harmony. Summer rolls are fresh with a crunch that. feels hydrating on a hot island day. They accommodated my specific needs most times I visited. Chipotle pasta - it was okay, but definitely was so fresh. I personally don't like bbq taste at all and it had a bbq aftertaste. Comes with two small pieces of butter garlic bread which are delicious. Pesto Pasta - OMG! Do not miss this. Yes, this THE BOMB. Comes with asparagus or mushrooms (a few only) and two small slices of bread. This is so so creamy, I loved loved it. I am really drooling as I write this review. So delicious. I don't mind returning to Cancun only for this pasta. But, sometimes they are out of ingredients so you can probably call ahead and check if they can make it. Guac & Chips - Nothing great to be honest, but the ingredients were fresh and good quality. The chips are baked and not fried. Margarita Pizza with Pesto - we requested some modifications to it and they accepted and how! Loved it. So much flavor! The drink I believe was the strawberry one,, it was really refreshing but too too sour for my liking. Of course I still had it The pricing is reasonable. This location has food that is not only vegan but mostly gluten free as well! Finding gluten free food was proving challenging on this side of cancun and I was super thankful to have something safe we could eat. The service was fantastic. The owner speaks good english which was nice and they were both so gracious! The portion sizes were perfect and everything that we ordered was sooo good! For a smaller location they had a good selection of food choices. If we make it back to cancun in the future, we would definitely come here! We ate here every day we were in cancun.
