Maria o was our waiter and was excellent! My friend and I shared the raw salmon appetizer and it was so flavorful! We both had the four cheese gnocchi. It was better than the gnocchi we had at Casa Rolandi. The pace of the meal was perfect! For dessert, we shared a flan that was so nicely sweet. Everything was amazing! This restaurant is in the "hotel zone". We stayed at the intercontinental. Cafe urbano is in the vicinity. We wanted to eat where it wasn't busy. This place has a nice view. To get to that view, you'll have to climb a few steps. The atmosphere was chill. The waitress was pleasant. We had cappuccino, freshly squeezed orange juice, pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fruits, and a few pastries. Omg. This place is very expensive! If you are coming for lunch or dinner some things to note A bottle of water is $4 us not complimentary. They do not mention cost when asking you about drinks. Normally in US water is free. If you have multiple people this really adds up!! There is not any selection of gluten free and vegan food available for lunch and dinner. If you need both don't bother coming here. They allowed us to order off breakfast menu but I will not be back for a lunch or dinner. Prices were exorbinant!!! Holy smokes! Atmosphere was nice. If there's an item on the menu they allow you to customize it to your taste.. Sometimes it may take a little while for your food order to come up, but it's well worth the wait! The restaurant is located inside the hotel and they have a good menu. We tried the Flautas, fish, flan, churros. Mojito and they were all good. The service was very nice and we were the only couple there when we arrived. I like the decor including the table mats that look like jeans. The overall vibe was nice, we came here a few times since I really liked their flautas. The view from the window is also very relaxing since you can see the beach and the pool from here. Loved this place. We went this morning before going to Isla Mujeres which is a must do for any tourist. We got the pancake breakfast with sausage and a couple smoothies. The servers did not speak any English. It was not the end of the world, it just made it difficult to order any food. In my opinion the smoothies were the most enjoyable part. The French Toast Bowl is a smoothie bowl that everyone should try. It has great texture and it is something that you can't find everyday. The pancakes were pretty average. When my wife got her plate her pancakes were cold and the sausage was hot. They had nice syrup, honey, and jam for the pancakes. I suggest if you come to Cafe Urbano to try out the smoothies or the bowls! That was definitely the best part of our meal. read more

I'm a California Foodie not easy to please when it comes to food. This place is absolutely amazing. My husband is a vegetarian but I am not .... so finding a restaurant is always a challenge when traveling. This is our second night and will be back for more. So far I ordered the Enchiladas Del Barrio and my husband Ordered the Vegetarian Enchiladas and the Cafe Urbano Salad and a side of Frijoles. It was yumminess. Tonight I ordered the Pizza a la Sarten. I loved it just like I love the famous Mozza Pizza from Newport Beach. I also ordered the Tuna Carpacio and the Cafe Urbano Salad again.... and my husband the same salad, the Poke BowL and Native Salmon.... sooooo good. To top things off ... We have loved every part of our stay at the hotel, but our experience tonight was just awful. We tried the other 2 restaurants and deck bar so we decided to give this place a shot. It's adorably decorated and air conditioned and cost half the price of room service so we went. I don't like being hateful, but immediately I could see it was probably a poor idea. The wait staff seemed to be the slowest we'd encountered. My son asked for chocolate milk and was brought hot chocolate with ice cubes. He wouldn't drink it. The strawberry banana smoothies were full of chunky ice bits and it was very watered down tasting. My daughter loved this as her favorite the hotel services, but she didn't want it. The meals were palatable. We ordered the kids brownies with ice cream and instead were brought the adult portions and prices. The wait staff had a very hard time understanding us. Maybe it was someone new or a bad night, but all four of us left shaking our heads. The eight year old said "They should have named that place Urine of the Sea." I agree, Son. One chic place at the Intercontinental Hotel in the hotel zone. It overlooks the beach and the pool area. Tried refreshing drinks - lemonade with ginger and fresh mint was enchanting along with dark beer with lemon and ginger as well. As we are vegetarians the chef made a special red sauce pasta which was super tasty and I also got a pita Greek sandwich with a side of quinoa salad. I was here in Cancun as a patient at the Hope4Cancer clinic. El presidente internacional was our home for two weeks. We tried the different restaurants on site but we liked the uniqueness of Cafe Urbano. It has nice ambiance, hipster style. What I appreciated the most was the evening bilingual waitress Gabriela. She knew the menu and the different options. My wife told her about my condition and my limited choices for food (vegetarian). She took the time to listen and she modify the menu to meet my needs. Chef Ramiro and his assistant Jaroslov came out to meet us and we expressed our gratitude for their excellent service. The vegetarian enchiladas with a bean sauce on top were superb. Stopped here because reviews said they had coffee, latte style coffee! The place wasn't very busy so service was very attentive. I (unfortunately) don't speak much Spanish and this was the one place we found where the servers didn't speak much English. Food was okay, a little lacking in flavor. However it wasn't the worst thing I ate while in Mexico. Coffee was yummy and they have Almond milk!! Don't have to be a guest of the hotel to dine. Overall the breakfast here is not good at all. I personally ordered waffles that came out be be as crunchy as patato chips. The waiter was extremely slow as well, keep in mind there was only two parties attending the cafe. Not only was Carla Chavira taking forever but she happened to forget our chocolate milk and forgot a side order for one of our meals. And her overall attitude was not welcoming at all. Upon arrival I asked the bartender how to access the Urban Cafe. The little wretch behind the bar told my wife, son and I to exit the building and walk around the outside. I followed his directions and all the gates were locked. We returned and asked the bell boy for assistance and he was kind enough to open the door for us to access the restaurant. We ordered our food from Lorena and I asked for some straws for our drinks and she never brought them. I got up and asked a gentleman behind the counter for three straws which he promptly supplied. I ordered a club sandwich with NO Cheese and NO Mayo. My sandwich came with both cheese and extra mayo. I'm fluent in Spanish so the language barrier was not the issue. I found all the staff to have a poor attitude with exception to the bell boy. Attitude is everything to me so consequently, I will never frequent this establishment again. read more

Highly recommend this place! It's at the Intercontinental, and they will ask for your room number, but you can just tell them you don't stay there and it should be fine. The ambience of this place is amazing. It's so classy yet has a modern/industrial feel to it. The service is great, the food was tasty, and their green juice was even better! The presentation was great. Everything came out so pretty! This place is definitely one for instagram :) I highly recommend trying their french toast and the eggs benedict. The eggs benedict came with hash browns, you could tell they are made from scratch. So good! The waiter even offered to make green juice to-go for us when we left. The prices are pretty normal and affordable. Nothing too crazy. They have a breakfast buffet option for around $21 USD, but we opted to order a la carte, and it was soooo worth it!
