I recently visited El Milagro in Seaside, and it was such a wonderful experience. When we first arrived, the restaurant technically wasn't open yet, and it was really windy outside. The waitress noticed us waiting and kindly invited us in so we wouldn't have to stand outside in the cold. That level of kindness and hospitality really stood out and set the tone for the whole visit. Top-notch customer service. What made the experience even more special is that my family and I are also Oaxacan, so the food felt very nostalgic for us. The flavors reminded us of home and brought back so many memories. It's always beautiful to find a place that stays true to traditional Oaxacan cuisine. Beyond the food, it ended up being such a nice bonding moment with my family. We were able to sit together, share dishes, and enjoy food that connects us to our roots. Overall, it was a great experience with delicious food, warm service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Let's start with negatives as this place does not have great yelp score. I am going 5 stars to try to compensate a bit fyi. So the owner is a sweet older lady and very friendly. Her staff, well mostly they are okay but they do refuse to learn even most basic English, and will not even attempt to try. Also I was hung up on once because of this. Now for the good, Maybe the best Al Pastor Burrito I've ever had. Also the Oxacan Quesadilla and Tamale and Mole all great. But seriously both the Red and Green salsas they give are maybe the best two salsas I've ever had... I've eaten at every Mexican spot in 20 mile radius in my life. So I always order to go, to avoid the deficiencies which includes a cafeteria like atmosphere. But this is a family run place and what really matters in the end is the food. Eat local! Friend recommended this placed for its cleanliness and near authentic oaxacan food. Ordered the tlayuda and fried fish. The tlayuda had the authentic quesillo flavor we all crave for. It was the best crunchy and thin tortilla I've ever had.The bean spread had the perfect blend of spices and avocado leaves. The fried fish had salty crunchy skin and soft moist meat. Star of the meal was the freshly made tortillas. It doesn't get any better than this. The price isn't cheap but it also isn't an arm and a leg. Support local restaurants if you can. Someone commented that they had to pay at the front and that's true. It can be an inconvenience but that's how some small businesses work. Love coming here when I'm craving some authentic Oaxacan food, I grabbed food to go, But the nice thing is that while you're waiting for the food they offer free Sopita de fideo. Order their banana leaf tamales. Mole and Chile verde Both where really good the dough on the tamal was not thick And the flavors of the mole and the greasy tamal was great. We also order Menudo. Menudo was also good. But we didn't get much meat :/ they came with home made tortillas :) Michelada was also good. But next time I'm ordering leased of their mixture. Great spot for Oaxacan food. Went back this time I wanted something new. We ordered the tlayuda doblada, which means folded. This is served with various meats and some radishes with tomatoes, avocado and it's really really delicious. This is what I had last time and it was why we came back. I saw the special and ordered the taco de panista. I thought this would be sheep meat and I was wrong! I got to remember that every place in Mexico has their own region of cuisine! This was actually not meat, it was more like rellena. Rellena is made it's liver heart and the blood of the animal. Needs less to say I took one bite and was like nope! We then asked the lady and found it rellena, which would never order at all! This was my own fault for not asking and assume. I also ordered the tamales oxaqueño de mole in the banana leaf. They way it was reheated was just wrong! It got hard and un chewable and it was just a ruined tamal. I don't recommend this item at all. Wonderful experience! CLEAN,friendly and amazing food! So funny they have karaoke. The Molé was wonderful absolutely perfect. The homemade tortillas and the homemade corn chips were divine! Honestly, I have been going here for years but never posted a review. I love taking my family since it is the most authentic food ever. The Tlayudas are definitely my favorite, but sister loves the enfrijoladas or quesadillas/enpanadas. Currently living out of town but would definitely drive there to have the food, service is not the best but definitely worth it. Try anything, in my opinion everything is really tasty, definitely reminds me of traditional Oaxacan dishes. read more

I have no idea why a user gave this restaurant a 1 star rating, but let me tell you this: real, local Mexican people (including myself) dig this place, and any time you can say that about a Mexican restaurant means it is a good place to eat at! This place may not be the "fanciest", but you can count on the food being fresh, homemade, authentic and delicious. Almost everything I have tasted here has had amazing flavor that is uniquely Oaxacan, and that is a breath of fresh air from the typical Mexican cuisine you find in California (largely of Jaliscience, Michoacana or Guanajuatense influence). The service for me has always been outstanding. The women are so friendly and look lovely with their bright and colorful Mexican embroidered shirts. I was here last weekend, they bring you their version of chips salsa, however instead of salsa they sprinkle mole and crumbled fresh cheese on top. I would probably go there just for these, I like them that much. I had the Oaxacan taco, beware its a big taco almost the size of a burrito, one is enough, you get your choice of meat, they add beans, oaxacan cheese which they plate with a green salad and a cactus salad. The reason I gave it three stars is because I feel like this restaurant can do better with its service. Food was delicious but there were some things I noticed that could improve. 1. More servers! There were two the first and the second time I was there. The first time, there were not a lot of people so it was fine. The second time, which was on New Years, the restáurelas pretty full. I asked for an Horchata preparada without the "tuna" and lo and behold when I got my drink, it had "tuna" the server said "well they didn't tell me that it wasn't supposed to have it". RED FLAG! That is not my problem, that is a communication problem that needs to be fixed within your team. Anyways, she brought back a new drink without the tuna. 2. Nobody wants cartilage in the food! I ordered the enchiladas oaxaqueñas, which are so authentic I don't even know what else to say about it because they're sooooo good. Only downside to this is that the shredded chicken had cartilage in it. If you're a picky eater like me, it grossed me out when I feel cartilage in my mouth so I had to be careful about every bite I take so that I wouldn't get any. 3. Place take the check to the table! Both times I went, I had to go to the cashier to pay for the food. Looks like everyone who eats there has to do the same. I think it's just a bit easier to take the check to the table so we know what to pay when we get up there. Also you order one special type of plate , then they come up with a excuse like we don't have that plate no more , but we brought you this one , a more expensive one than the one you ordered. The food is good and all but poor service. I went a few weeks ago. I'm used to asking for my drinks after the food arrives so my kids don't drink a lot before the meal. So i requested that. A few minutes later my daughter starts whining that she's thirsty, so i asked to have my drinks brought to the table. Not only did the server say " I thought you said you wanted them after" with attitude, but they brought me some waters straight from the faucet.
