Tlayuda with carne asada-Sencilla
Vicky C.

Eat local! Friend recommended this placed for its cleanliness and near authentic oaxacan food. Ordered the tlayuda and fried fish. The tlayuda had the authentic quesillo flavor we all crave for. It was the best crunchy and thin tortilla I've ever had.The bean spread had the perfect blend of spices and avocado leaves. The fried fish had salty crunchy skin and soft moist meat. Star of the meal was the freshly made tortillas. It doesn't get any better than this. The price isn't cheap but it also isn't an arm and a leg. Support local restaurants if you can. Someone commented that they had to pay at the front and that's true. It can be an inconvenience but that's how some small businesses work. There was one waitress manning 8 tables, not sure if there's more cooks than waitresses. Overall give this place a chance. Provecho!

Love coming here when I'm craving some authentic Oaxacan food, I grabbed food to go, But the nice thing is that while you're waiting for the food they offer free Sopita de fideo. Order their banana leaf tamales. Mole and Chile verde Both where really good the dough on the tamal was not thick And the flavors of the mole and the greasy tamal was great. We also order Menudo. Menudo was also good. But we didn't get much meat :/ they came with home made tortillas :) Michelada was also good. But next time I'm ordering leased of their mixture. Great spot for Oaxacan food. Must try.

Great authentic Mexican food, I will definitely be coming back. Food took a little long, but it was worth the wait, it was hot & delicious, made me feel like home. I enjoyed every bit of it. Erika, our server has an excellent personality & gave us the best service.

Empanada Oaxaqueña and molotes.

Service could have been better. Smiling does not hurt anyone.Food is ok, bland. I will not return. I prefer the taqueria down the road.

I honestly can't speak highly enough about this place--it remains a total gem in Seaside. The food was incredible across the board. Between our table, we had everything from their fresh, every dish was packed with flavor and served in massive portions. You can really tell they've been using the same traditional family recipes for a while making it feel comforting and authentic. The service was fast and friendly and the homey, whether you're a local or just passing through the Monterey area, this is a recommended spot if you want high-quality, authentic Mexican seafood that never misses the mark. I had the Nuevo seafood special and it was off the hook good ! We've previously enjoyed breakfast and lunch here before but the dinner last night just turned the dial up to 10 on the happy scale !

We usually get the Whole Chicken Combo. It is not possible to get only white or dark meat. The chicken is "slick" enough that even the white meat is good. There is some char on the outside and the skin is cooked nicely. It comes with a few tortillas (can pick flour or corn), 2 kinds of salsa (spicy red and chipotle based), and pickled onions. Roasted hot peppers (yes, they have some heat!!) and onions are a nice touch. The whole chicken isn't too large. Sides are Spanish Rice (great flavor, but seemed a bit hard), seasoned whole beans (tender and flavorful). It's enough for a family of 4 with little kids. But you might think about ordering more if you have more adults or older kids. We also got a guacamole (loaded with onions, tomatoes) and chips. Guacamole is fresh and creamy. You'll love it if you like the style with extra stuff added. Chips are thin and oh-so-greasy, in a good way. Kids loved the extra colors. Portion size isn't too big, could probably have ordered an extra one, because you won't want to stop eating them! Overall, a great place to grab a quick dinner. Can't go wrong with this spot!

Ordered the ceviche tostada and ate the ceviche off of it - not fishy just tasty - also ordered a lengua taco and the meat was so tender and well prepared, no weird grisly pieces - husband ordered green chili pork and al pastor and was very happy with his selection as well - I had a bite of each of his and they were delightful. I love that you can help yourself to pico de gallo - which was fresh and alive with jalapeño ends - pico de gallo should be on the nutritional food pyramid as required daily haha - wow we were so happy with this meal, I wish we had been hungrier to try more items!

The staff appeared more focused on watching a football game than helping customers, and the overall atmosphere felt unwelcoming from the moment we arrived. We were first-time guests and did not feel encouraged to return. When ordering drinks, our IDs were repeatedly questioned, which felt excessive and uncomfortable given that everyone provided valid identification. While I can understand staff needing to verify IDs, the interaction came across as distrustful and unpleasant. The food itself was decent, and the complimentary chips and salsa at the bar were a nice touch. However, service plays a huge role in the overall experience, and in this case it overshadowed the positives.
