3 item combo - carnitas crunchy taco, cheese enchilada and pork tamale with rice and beans

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals, each getting a variation of the 3 item combo. We also got the ceviche which was fantastic. The carnitas was some of the best I've had and wife's al pastor was delicious as well. Service was great and prices were fair.

Very homey and cozy atmosphere. Friendly welcoming staff, plants outside were beautiful. Burrito and soup were both delicious. Salsa was perfect!

Dang best tamale I've ever had!! And it was chicken!! I was scared it could be dry, nope! So moist! We got ceviche and grilled garlic butter shrimp. The portions are big! Service was great, this place is a must go.

Interior view and interesting way they served my beer.

Quick review of a Mexican restaurant I've been wanting to try for some time. A lot of Mex restaurants in Monterey are sometimes focused on Tacos, or Burritos or strictly fish oriented. I didn't find that the case with Mariscos. Instead it was a full menu that ran the gamut of Mexican food-- generous portions, good quality and presentation and fresh. Prices were generally consistent with Monterey pricing but these days even Mexican food is not cheap anymore. I was looking for chili verde enchiladas and actually found them -- surprisingly as a lot of Mex restaurants do not feature. These were a treat as they were stuffed with tasty chicken and covered in verde sauce. Fresh rice and beans on the side along with a mini salad vs the 2-3 pieces of lettuce that's more garnish than salad. Accompanied by chips and salsa. I added a Pacifico and in the top of the bottle was a delicious shrimp and a lime. Nice touch. Bottom line: a casual spot , clean and welcoming service. Go.

The mojarra was good, no complaints there , but honestly I didn't see the point of serving it with fries. I would have preferred a larger portion of rice instead. The price for that dish was reasonable, but the Mexican paella was very disappointing. It's supposed to be for two people, but to be honest, it wouldn't even fill one person up. On top of that, $36 for such a small portion feels way overpriced. My boyfriend expected a lot more for that price, and I even had to share my food with him. The customer service was just okay. We had to wait about 15 minutes just to get the check, which was frustrating. Overall, it wasn't a great experience at this restaurant.

Ola verde, seafood in a green broth. Fantastic.

I've been going here off and on for like 15 years, whenever I end up in Monterey for some time off. It is a great place, their seafood games on point, and they also have numerous other offerings to satisfy everyone. It's really diverse clientele, people of all ages and backgrounds and the food comes out fast and in a friendly manner. If you like seafood, go. If you like Mexican, go. The ambiance is no-frills -- there's some nice art on the walls but you're probably going to be face down in some shrimp, fish, and scallops.

This place never misses! I've been coming here for years, but since moving away it's become a lot less frequent. I just dropped by last week and I have to say I'm always blow away by the customer service and food. Food quality has remained the same (if not better) throughout the years and so love the authenticity in the dishes. The servings are also very generous for the price. This is my go-to spot I introduce to any friend from out of town.

4.5 STARS Sometimes the cheapest meals are the most satisfying meals. Because expensive doesn't guarantee something will be good...or pretty for that matter. I mean look at the Tesla Cybertruck...dropping $100k+ to drive around in a fridge. But, hey...at least it catches everyone's attention. After several days of not so wallet-friendly restos in Carmel, I was dead set on getting a steamy facial over a piping hot bowl of menudo from Seaside. Apparently, it's the place to get legit Mexican food on the coast. My first two choices I called doesn't serve menudo on Sundays (what?!). I called Mariscos Puerto Nuevo (MPN) and they had menudo con pata so we arrived within 10 minutes. We knew we were in the right place when we were the only non-natives. MPN is open for takeout, indoor dining, and dog-friendly outdoor dining. Full-service resto but I didn't know so I ordered and paid before sitting. M E N U Breakfast served all day. Seafood is their specialty: Raw oysters, aguachile, fried or grilled seafood, stewed octopus, and mexican paella. They also have Mexican staples: Tacos, burritos, enchiladas, quesadillas, nachos, tostada, flautas, chile relleno, fajitas, etc. Proteins: Pollo, asada, lengua, cabeza, carnitas, chile verde, etc. Beer available. F O O D * Complimentary Chips & Salsa // 3 stars Standard industrial chips with a mild salsa akin to ranchero sauce. Chips were kinda stale but hey, it's free! * Menudo: Beef Tripe Soup w/ corn tortillas, fixings (One size only - $13.95) // 4.5 stars: https://tinyurl.com/5xkz2d6d & https://tinyurl.com/yfn64azf - Requested con pata (w/ pig trotters) which they confirmed having when calling and when placing my order. But, while waiting for our order...they said, they *just* ran out. =( - Served Saturday and Sunday only. - Choice of corn or flour tortillas. Living near The Excelsior and The Mission in SF, I have access to great Mexican food and this is some top-tier menudo! The vibrant guajillo based broth was rich, soothing, and mildly spicy (not too salty). It was chockful of meltingly soft honeycomb tripe...enough for the two of us to share for a small meal. Served with a side of diced white onion, cilantro, dried oregano, dried chili, and lemon to doctor up the broth to your liking. The side of corn tortillas were commercial but warmed up and pliable. S E R V I C E Friendly staff but bare minimum service. After dropping off our order, there were no check-ins. A M B I A N C E Casual with about 8-10 tables indoors and a handful of tables in the parklet. P A R K I N G Limited parking in the shared lot. Had to find parking down the block. Overall, I know MPN's specialty is seafood but they serve up a great bowl of menudo. It was the cheapest meal we had on the coast and the most satisfying. Will def return the next time I'm in Carmel again but at opening time for the pata.

We were in the area for my MILs 60th birthday and decided to give this place another shot. My rule for Mexican food is if the restaurant is colorful the food is going to be a hit. Unfortunately, this restaurant did not meet that standard. Maybe it was our fault for not trying their seafood and that's why the food was mediocre at best. I had the Molcajete which, at most restaurants, comes with shrimp this one did not at A SEAFOOD restaurant. The only good thing in it was the carne asada. The chorizo, chicken and everything else was REALLY salty. My husband ordered the wet burrito which he enjoyed and the meat was good. The sauce was not the best but it was edible. My MIL had the chilaquiles con huevos and again everything was extremely salty. She kept mentioning how much she loves salty food but this was too much for her. She ended up eating some of my husband's left over burrito. My kids had the chicken nuggets and fries, can't really mess that up when it's frozen and deep fried. Wish I had a better experience there with their food because their service was fine but never again.

    Modelo Michelada

Everything was delicious.. Service was great, everyone was very nice and helpful when we were asking questions about the menu.. They have indoor and outdoor seating, indoor is pretty small but still cute and decorated for Valentine's Day.. we are definitely coming back, strongly recommend this restaurant

Very happy we had a chance to try out this little spot in Seaside! Not a lot of tablea and the place was buzzing! Always a great sign whrn tables ate busy and staff is buzzing. Portions ate LARGE. Mole was 2 large thick chicken thighs (yum) less bitter chocolate undertones and lighter in colour then other moles I have had and more kick (chili)than usual. Seafood dish with zucchini and veg was super delicious and large. Children's quesadillas were huge hit with lots of extra cheese and the lengua taco was super tender and delicious with the given salsa.

This is probably my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. They have the best Mexican breakfast, seafood and traditional dishes. They obviously specialize in seafood so I enjoy the tostada mixta which has octopus, fish, and shrimp ceviche. My partner likes the campechana. I live in PG and the Mexican options in Monterey (except El Charrito!) and PG are slim to none so it's worth the short drive to Seaside for this authentic spot. I love the chorizo con juevo or I have them do a combo for me of chilaquiles with chorizo and egg. It's so filling but they totally hit it out of the park. They bring you chips and salsa while you wait and I could drink that salsa. I've also tried the molcajete which is really good and filling. They give you chicken, asada, nopales, cheese, and vegetables with side of beans, guacamole and tortillas. It's pricy but worth it as you will have leftovers. Some days they also serve champurrado which I love on a cold day. The staff is super nice and service is pretty fast. The parking lot can fill up fast and be a little tight to get out of so you may need to park on the street. This place is sometimes crowded but never empty. Please support this place!

Shrimp with fries, weren't as good as I expected them to be. They need more seasoning. Overall the service was exceptional

    How are their shrimp cocktails?

My mother had a ceviche de camaron and she liked it. They served in a glass wine cup. Usually is served in a bowl or tostada but she said the flavor and freshness was really good. Also wanted to add that it had alot of shrimps

Are there vegan options besides chips, salsa, and guacamole?

    Yes

    Do they serve Margherita's?

Yes, but the ones we got were more syrup than anything

Call for a reservation.. why it a family with history of fishing and volunteers ... the menu is good standard fish meals and pasta dishes... then ever night they have 5 to 6 specials of fish and maybe a meat specials... I always get a special . Friday night they err packed and the way Saint it's 39 minutes or you could sit at the bar in 5 minutes . We always had a table but that sounded good to sit at the bar. The team from the way to the assistants are just amazing... like a food team . They move so fast water, wine , bread with olive oil and basaltic vinegar with a touch of hot sauce. Our first time at the bar they serve dinners, wine and beers ... the server told us the specials or home made raviolis with crab ect. The special I picked was the grilled tuna ... with pasta and vegetables.. I said I want it lightly grilled.. he said a mini or two on both sides ... yes .. he said it the best way. You get to see what the others are having and get into conversations with them... the tables are very close together you can talk to other people at tables but they just have 4/6 people at the tables... I had a glass of red wine whiz we wait ... no fried squid this time ... it's a lot so we passed this time first time we Did not have them ... my wife saw the wimp next to her and she had the crab ravioli so Linda ordered it . While we waited the serve was cracking to oysters . 3 hit and it was open slid the knot under it and repo it 5 more times for for a table order... our dishes can't from behind us from another waitress... both plates were just great looking, and the plate was hot ...I finish by glass of wine to mou for my plate .. the tuna was lightly grilled .. I cut into it and it was gust right .. the taste was so good as if the had it come in the back door... I usually put lemony on my fish , shrimp clammy ect but this tuna was so Amazing not tonight... I copy not believe what a big piece if aha tuna it was. Like it was a Bone steak... it push the pasty and vegetables to the edge of my plate. At ect other restaurants on the peninsula if it's a special it would be a small piece of fish like it so expensive... ... the staff comes by asking if we need any thing ... they weave in and around ti clear a table for prolly wait out the front door... Their deserts are made in house and the one who may the tearmisu was a family friend who makes the best we have ever had.... I know I have had so many servings in 3o years... the best was an old it's which has an Italian restaurant in Castroville .. from the old country...him and his wife ... U say who made this and the server said the isn't.. I said tell him his was the best we ever had. In a few minutes he and his wife came out to our tablet to thank us... his was the picture of a family that came to California 50 years ago.... We took Linda's hid mother out to dinner with us many times and she was so hay to meet them ... then they talked in Italian for a count minutes... we took her out to dinner and drive up to the redo ... a big sign said closed down... But we have found the next generation here at the fish restaurant... it's like the same recipes from his father.. and must have been his grandmother recipes ... this time the staff has a a Hispanic families from South America ...hard working navy stopping just to make sure eco gets perfect service.... With the perfect meal ... there are other good restaurants on the per but if you want the best mess you ever had it's the Monterey fish house on Del Monte body ... call for reservations or stand out side the fro door. Gusto is one of the few truly scratch-made Italian restaurants that specializes not only in pizza, pasta, and sauces, but also features an old-school brick, wood-fired pizza oven. Hell, they even make their own mozzarella! They have not only caught the eye of locals and Yelpers, but have also managed to earn a recommendation in the current Michelin Guide. The Good: * Private parking lot, as well as street parking. * Fabulous service from Alex! * Prices are very reasonable considering the food quality. * Local beers on tap. * Strawberry Prosciutto Salad (seasonal special) was fantastic! Who knew strawberries paired so perfectly with salty, cured prosciutto and pistachios? This might not be on the menu all the time, but if you see it, get it! * Complimentary focaccia was unbelievably soft and delicious. As if it couldn't get any better, their olive tapenade served alongside it was equally delicious, making for an unbeatable duo. * The Margherita pizza is the ultimate test of a pizza restaurant--and they passed with flying colors! It's so simple that if something isn't right, it'll be easy to spot, but everything from the homemade mozz to the slightly charred crust and the delicious sauce made this the perfect pie. I give it a score of 3.14159265359...! The Meh: * Meatballs were a touch too tough and could've been a bit more tender. They were still fuçking delicious, so honestly, who cares? The Ugly: * Despite the name, Seaside isn't the most glorious place, and this location is downright sus AF. Conclusion: Maybe one of the best meals so far of 2026. If you have any doubts about coming here, relieve yourself of them and get down here posthaste.
