They give complimentary the tuna toast. We thought they dropped off someone else a good by mistake lol. Menu is easy to read. Fried cod with shrimp was slightly salty for my liking. The fish skin wasn't crispy because it was soaked in the butter or oil?? It be a me a bit too much.. I did like how flakey soft the fish was. I also ordered the croquettes, which I enjoyed. My friends said they liked their food too. Overall, affordable tapas dishes. Service was quick and welcoming. The place is quite quaint and small. I thought there wasn't a lot of dishes that stood out to me to choose from. P.S. they don't split multiple cards.

This place is great! The staff is the kindest we encountered while in Madrid. We stopped in twice for post meal cocktails and pledged to come back for dinner next time. Everything says their goat cheese dish is awesome. High marks on food on all apps. Wish I had had room for any of it! It was always packed and the food coming out looked and smelled great. We had no trouble getting cozy at the bar each night.

This is not a tourist trap! Based on the Google reviews, we decided to give minibar a try and we are so glad we discovered this true whole in the wall. We got the popular dishes: grilled goat cheese with tomato jam, bacon-wrapped eggplant, and the tuna tartar. All three dishes were popping with flavor!! This was actually enough food for 3-people. Our waitress recommended the Marques del Puerto Tempranillo...damn that was good! Staff including the owner (I think) were super nice. Like every other place in Madrid, don't come here if you are in a rush, but they won't rush you!

The food here was a highlight of my time in Madrid. We had just arrived from Seville and it was getting late and we needed something to eat. There were lots of places that looked okay near the hotel but I wanted something a little extra and I saw El Mini Bar on Yelp. Looking at the photos and reading the reviews, I thought it sounded pretty good and I wasn't alone. When we walked in the place was completely packed. It was probably close to 9 and the earliest we could get a table was 10:45, which is past my bedtime. As we turned to leave, two seats at the bar opened up so we jumped on them. The bartender got us some drinks and we scanned the QR code for the menu and were able to start eating right away. They brought some bread out and then we ordered Grilled goat cheese with crust and tomato jam, Fried cod with garlic shrimp, and Eggplant and bacon with tomato and orange sauce and feta cheese. Each dish was incredible. I loved that grilled goat cheese (tasted a little bit like saganaki). The cod was perfectly fried and amazing. The eggplant was probably my favorite...it had the perfect balance of flavors and textures. We were actually full by then but couldn't help but finish the whole thing. We left stuffed and happy, all for about $35. Since this place is popular and very tiny, it gets very crowded. Eating at the bar by the stairs was a challenge because people kept bumping into me but that was a minor drawback. Definitely glad we came to this place and I know we'll always remember that delicious food.

Fantastic option for late night eats near plaza mayor at great prices. My partner and I shared some "mini" sandwiches (they were definitely larger than we expected), along with the Oxtail roll and some tinto Verano. The food was all delicious and we left feeling quite satisfied! Would definitely recommend.

We were in the area and found this awesome little spot. The place had great vibes and the staff was incredible. The food was amazing . I would highly recommend for tapas. Incredible experience

Rightfully rated 5-stars! One never knows. But the 40 min wait was definitely worth it and the staff was charming. Mini means mini: the place is truly very small with a limited number of tables, packed. Some paintings on the walls. Each table with a glass cover and numerous guest notes or tips underneath. The menu is or would be visible by QR code (which turned out to be a challenge without immediate WiFi access)*. Most importantly, everything we ordered was simply outstanding! Tartar de atun rojo (red tuna tartar), papas arrugas (potatoes with canarian sauce), and several other tapas that I do not remember the name but clearly remember their fantastic presentation and taste. Definitely a gem, hopefully not too many folks know about when we come the next time. *suggestion: in another restaurant, there were two QR codes: 1 for the WiFi, 1 for the menu

I stopped by El Minibar in Madrid recently. The restaurant had good service, amazing vibes for dining solo, with a date, or in a group. Food was really good as well and I'd give it 9/10: - Sangria: YES! - Cod & Shrimp Tapa: 9.5/10: Cod was really fresh, flakey with an amazing texture (similar to crab meat and doesn't fall apart). The shrimp was really sweet. The dish was a bit salty by itself so the bread was a good complement - Duck Confit: 8.5/10: Duck was really nicely cooked, the meat came off the bone without needing a knife. Rich and good quality duck (wasn't too fatty), but there was a subtle flavour that reminded me of overly frozen meat (not sure if that's what it is though). The sauce was really good and rich, and the slightly sweet/citrusy taste complemented the duck really well. Also, nicely cooked potatoes - Boar Roll: 8.5/10: Roll with crispy skin and packed with boar meat inside. It felt a bit too dense and dry so the mushroom sauce balanced it out a bit. It would go well with a drink like Sangria

It's easy to miss this place because you have to walk down stairs to find it but definitely worth it! My favorite was the goat cheese, it's to die for! The calamari was also good. I didn't like the cheese and chicken because the cheese tasted like velveta which I don't like. The Spanish omelette tapa was free I think and was good but I didnt like that it was cold. The food came out really fast and prices are good for the quality!

This was our first stop in Madrid and it was delicious! They brought us out a tapas with octopus that was very good. The highlight was the goat cheese. It was to die for! The tomato jam and pesto was the perfect mix of sweet and savory! Chefs kiss! Make sure to stop in for a few tapas and good cocktails!

We walked by this place several times before realizing it was a high rated tapas restaurant on Yelp/google. The goat cheese dish is of course award winning and so good. Service was friendly and they accommodated us even though we didn't have a reservation. Also, we were able to bring our toddler in with a stroller and they were so hospitable. Highly recommend.

Great little place. Cool inside, weird and fun art hanging on the wall. People inside were very nice, both the wait staff and patrons. The gin and tonic was great. Owner came out and made the drink at the table. Poured the tonic down the very long knife blade and into a large copa. Fun to see. Great drink. Great beer from Alhambra. Had the tataki tuna, and it was a bit overdone, but a very good dish.

We had a reservation and had to wait maybe 10-15 minutes, which was fine. It was such a fun vibe, small inside but very chill and exciting. Good service and good food! We saw the goat cheese with honey was voted best tapa in Madrid a few years ago, so we got that, tuna tartare, eggplant wrapped with bacon which was unexpectedly delicious in a sweet tomato sauce. The cheesecake for dessert was denser than American cheesecake and topped with a caramel sauce that was so delicious- I can't stop thinking about it. We would love to go back when we are in Madrid. You definitely need a reservation!

Alright, as I continue to try to catch up on all the review drafts I wrote while on vacation, at…read morethis point a whole 5 months ago... I know this one was exactly 5 months ago, because we touched down in Madrid on New Years Day, and this was the first place we ate (sounds like they've been here for aeons, so I doubt they've changed significantly since January.) My plan when we landed had been to just go down the list I'd made before we left of the best quick food places near our hotel, and eat at the first one that *was* open on New Years. I was worried there wouldn't be any and we'd be eating snacks from a convenience store, but nope! This place was indeed open. Open, and an absolute *madhouse*. I'm not sure if it was just because it was New Years, they were open, and much of the street wasn't, or if they're always this crazy - but it was a decent wait to order, to the point that it wasn't *entirely* clear whether we were even waiting correctly to order, since the line had kind of turned into a blob. Ordering and picking up our food was slightly nerve-wracking with how crowded it was, and there didn't really appear to be anywhere inside to sit, so we figured we'd sit outside at the tables... that we got immediately yelled at for sitting at, because it turns out all the tables right outside their entrance, actually belongs to their next door neighbor. So if I were ever back in Madrid, I *would* totally consider getting food here again, but I'd just probably plan on bringing it back to the hotel, vs what we ended up doing, finding the closest nearby flat non-private surface and eating it standing up in an alley. It definitely felt like a cool historic building inside, though, would've loved to dine in, if it hadn't been wall-to-wall packed, which it sounds like they might just always be. Food was great, though. We shared (this was plenty of food): An order of the cider-braised sausages - wonderful. Bonus, we learned from personal experience, you definitely want to get an order of these sausages, as not only are the sausages themselves delicious, the resulting au jus was also great for dipping the other items into.) An order of the ham and cheese croquettes - pretty tasty, though they did fall apart. Even tastier dipped in sausage juice, though then they *really* fell apart. Worth it though. Didn't look like you got a lot per order, but looks are deceiving - they were *rich*. An order of their famous mushrooms - I was a bit surprised, given the name literally means "the mushroom bar", that they only had a single mushroom dish, though given the sheer volume of that one item they clearly sell nightly, I can see why. Anyway, as a mushroom fan... they were certainly tasty mushrooms, perfectly cooked, but in my opinion, just a bit oversalted. Also had a glass of sangria for 2.50 euro - it is extremely good sangria, though the glass for 2.50 was pretty small. They also sell it for a better price by the larger container, but sadly, while I absolutely loved the European spirit of trusting people to be responsible after leaving with a to-go alcoholic beverage... they don't sell the *larger* sized sangria if you aren't dining in. Was too bad, as I absolutely would have loved twice as much of that sangria, but it clearly wasn't worth standing in a long ordering line a second time for it.

The restaurant is located in the heart of Madrid on a very cute street, and it is easy to find and walk there if you stay in the city center. The place is not very big - both times I went there for lunch, there were no tables available, so I had to sit at the bar; once I even had to wait about 7 minutes until one bar spot became free. The restaurant's design is simple, but pretty and lovely. Overall, the restaurant is in very good condition and was perfectly clean both times I visited. The only small downside is that the place is quite noisy, but it did not bother me. One of the best things about this place is the people who work there - both a guy and a lady at the bar were extremely nice and friendly to me; plus, both spoke very good English. They gave me recommendations on what to try, and I followed their advice. The restaurant's menu is not big, but it has all the most popular traditional Spanish dishes. Both times I ordered Rabo de Toro (a traditional Spanish stew), Fardos (squid rolls with bacon and squid ink mousse); and once I also tried croquetas de jamón (ham croquettes). The croquettes were tasty - I loved their flavor and soft texture. One portion includes 6 pieces, and they are quite big and filling. It was my first time trying Fardos (I ordered a 1/3 portion), and it was a great experience - the dish turned very delicious after the bartender mixed it for me. The squid was cooked very nicely, and combined with the fresh bacon and ink mousse, it tasted fantastic. Rabo de Toro (I ordered a 1/2 portion) was also my first time trying this dish, and I loved it - the stew was perfectly cooked, very soft and moist, with rich flavors, and it melted in my mouth. The restaurant also offers a wide variety of drinks, especially wines. I do not drink alcohol, so I was recommended to try grape juice - Mosto, which was extremely flavorful and tasted like fresh pressed grape juice, even though it came from a glass bottle. I loved that drink! Price-wise, all items on the menu seemed reasonable. I paid €8 for 6 ham croquettes, €12 for a half portion of Rabo de Toro, €8 for a 1/3 portion of Fardos, and €3 for one glass of grape juice. It is possible to have a nice full lunch here for around €22, which is reasonable for a restaurant in the heart of Madrid. The place accepts all major credit cards and Apple Pay, which is a big plus. If you visit this restaurant, I strongly recommend trying 1/3 or 2/3 portion of Fardos, a half portion of Rabo de Toro, and their grape juice Mosto - it's enough food to feel full and experience traditional Spanish flavors.

I ordered the Oxtail (Rabo de Toro) and wooooow... easily one of the most tender and delicate pieces of meat I've EVER had. They serve it boneless, but I'm pretty sure if they would have provided a bone, it would've fallen right off. The whole place gives cozy tavern vibes with a rustic interior that feels perfectly Madrid. NOTE: the portions are a bit heavier than most spots. I hate to waste food, especially when it's as immaculate as the Oxtail, but if you're a party of one, you got to do what you go to do.

The inviting, unpretentious atmosphere, the cozy charm, the prices, the energy -- it's hard to capture it all in words. There's a certain magic at Malaespina. The tavern has been around for hundreds of years, and I often wonder what it was like a century ago.
