I found out about Nopal from Action Bronson's Youtube channel (his French series) so naturally I had to come and try it for myself. I appreciated that the tortillas were handmade however they weren't as dense as I'm used to. Overall the flavors were very authentic. I'm from Los Angeles so I feel like I make a solid taco critic. I'm very picky with carne asada so unfortunately theirs fell short. I did however really enjoy the chorizo. I would definitely go back because of how budget friendly it is. If you're looking for a place to get tacos they're definitely worth checking out at least once. read more

Exited the metro and headed in the wrong direction ended up in front of El Nopal. I had already been feeling a bit homesick and missing a home cooked meal, we decided to stop here for lunch before heading to our next tourist spot. The tinga was delicious, the salsa verde was so good, and most importantly everyone here seemed to be Mexican/Latino and it felt like home. We shared a chips and guac, tinga burrito, and 3 tacos (asada). The asada is thick cut and not your typical asada but it was still quite good. The space is small but they make it work, and the service is quick. Adding it to my list of recommendations for friends to try when in Paris. read more

By our fourth or fifth night in Paris, we were missing home and super missing some bomb tacos so on the hunt we went! Thank the Lord above for yelp, of course!! After searching through many restaurant profiles, we find this one that has the type of tacos we were looking for! The reviews are correct, this place is BOMB! It's literally the tiniest place I've ever eaten at lol but the food is incredible and truly worth the wait! The crowd of people is quite telling of the quality of food! After speaking with the owners, while standing near the kitchen, (and also by the front door lol) we came to find out that they are from Mexico, which explains the delicious food. We just barely started seeing these drinks pop up around grocery stores around here in the past couple of years. Tacos were just ok. Sopes were under cooked. The service was horrible. Just like the other reviews the service was horrible- I've never been to a taco place where they don't let you pick your own meat selection. They force you to order the taco meat as-is and they get upset if you question it. Very tiny place and the owner should not be running this establishment with the horrible personality he carries. They have salsas on the tables that are uncovered and are not switched out-very unsanitary. You don't know how long they've been out and what others have done in there. I am Mexican American and my boyfriend and I were on a search for some Mexican tacos Tijuana style. We googled and went to different "Mexican" restaurants, but all were closed so we found this one. The tacos were not Tijuana style tacos, but their food was amazing. I had tacos de cebrada and chorizo and I can say the taste was definitely familiar to our Mexican cuisine. Bigger than their first restaurant in the 10th, this hole in the wall is a cozy place to get tacos, tortas, burrones, chilaquiles and other types of Mexican comfort food. To set some expectations, this review is based on the level of quality of Mexican food in Paris. I am from Los Angeles, so IMHO Paris's Mexican food scene or its quality is nowhere near LA's. Got to the taqueria around 2:30pm so all they had by this time was pork -- Al Pastor, Pierna Adobada, and Chorizo. Ordered the Al Pastor Burrito and 3 Tacos that had each type of pork. The tacos were decent. One highlight of the tacos is that they make the corn tortillas from scratch. They have the flattening device to make the tortillas. The burrito was okay as well. Most of the burrito was filled with rice. Wish there was an option to order an all-meat burrito. The salsa was not spicy at all, probably because it's catered to Parisians and their spice tolerance. A couple of recommendations to make the food more on par with LA's: -install a rotating spit that has Al Pastor cooking, and add pineapple to the tacos -add more onions and cilantro in tacos -add onions and cilantro in burrito -not sure whether habanero peppers are available in Paris, but if they are, make pickled habanero onions so customers who enjoy spicy things can top onto tacos/burritos -add an avocado salsa option Overall, for Mexican food in Paris, this place is good. When compared to Mexican food in LA, this place is just okay and leaves Angelenos reminiscing of tacos/burritos back home. read more

My husband and I decided to give El Nopal a try since we have been eating pasta and pizza for the past 6 days and being Mexican we were missing some good Mexican food . This place was delicious ! Bless this place for offering decent Mexican food in the area! The heat of their salsas is definitely French heat... meaning basically no heat at all (and the communal bowls of it left out on the tables are a bit odd... didn't feel the most sanitary, to be honest). But everything else tasted great. We chatted a bit with the guys at the counter and thought it hilarious that he said the clientele there is mostly North Americans tired of French food and missing tacos - guilty as charged! read more

This place met our southern Californian Mexican Food standards!! This little hole in the wall was definitely the cherry on top to our Paris trip. We have been trying to find tacos and burritos that remind us of home. The green salsa had enough flavor and spice. I ordered the 3 taco set with chorizo, asada and alambre, each taco got better and better! While my husband got the asada burrito. You can taste the freshness of the maize in the tortillas, the meat was on point ! The customer service was even better, they spoke French, English and Spanish. I felt like I was back home. The placed was packed when we arrived a line practically out the door. Which was definitely a sign that the place was good! There is an outside bench that we sat at with 2 mini tables and the window behind it slides open and that's how we received our order. I wish we tried other stuff, I'm sure it would have been just as amazing! Also, orders must be more than 10€ to use a credit/ debit card. read more

Hmm. I love Mexican food and this place isn't good at all. A lot of people claim that this place is the best in Paris but I think Candelaria takes the cake. This place didn't even come close. On the plus side, they speak English, French, and Spanish. We came at 12 which is the time it's open on yelp but on Facebook it says 1. Weird. We were freezing outside so they let us in. They told us 15 more minutes until they could serve us food but after 15 min they brought us chips and guac to hold us off for a bit more. We finally got to order and had to go up front to cash register to do so. We got the carné Asada burrito equivalent, three mixed tacos, quesadilla equivalent with Alhambre. You have a couple of meat choices which changes daily. First off, I think the meat quality here is awful. The carne asada was like chewing into a rug. The burrito was mostly unseasoned rice. The meat in the quesadilla was weird. Our whole meal came out to 28.5€ which doesn't add up. The reason they get three stars is that they were nice enough to let us wait inside. If I am craving Mexican food, I would rather go to Candelaria or even Cafe Oberkampf. read more

I was happy to see that El Nopal opened a second location--this time with a small seating area! My date and I enjoyed the Micheladas, although I found the pre-prepared juce a bit too strong until diluted with the second half of my beer. While I don't find the tacos and burritos as good as in California, it definitely hits the spot. I was somewhat disappointed to see that the prices have gone up at the new location--three tiny tacos for 8€50 is pretty ridiculous. We also had a tiny plastic cup of guacamole for 4€50 that ended up being more onion than anything else. I will most likely return again to enjoy an almost-authentic slice of home, even with the added costs. Best Tacos in Paris! They make their tortillas fresh in the kitchen daily. The carne asada tacos was probably best tacos ever. Not just comparing in Paris but I'm comparing to LAs and Tjs. I am from California and I had been so excited to go here, for so long. I was SO disappointed. I was at the Pigalle location, which had no ambiance. The staff looked bored. My burrito was practically all rice, with just a little bit of chicken. There was NO salsa, NO guacamole, NO sour cream and NO beans!!! It was the worst "burrito" I have ever had. The food is soooo good and authentic, I absolutely loved it. I gave this restaurant for two reasons: no extra sides included in the dish and it's so expensive! I got three tacos and it cost 9 euro. That was without a drink and without any sides. I was extremely disappointed since it was so overpriced I felt like I was being scammed. I also got a juaritos drink which was another 3.5 Euro. Overall i spent 12.5 euro on three tacos and a drink... no rice and beans for a side dish. Would I go back? Friends and I went to Paris for a holiday week. Us being from Texas we decided to scope out what the Mexican/Tex mex flavor was like. We found their smaller taco stand on yelp..it looked great, great reviews and decided to give it a chance. After two days in a row of unsuccessful efforts (due to us getting there at closing time) we were guided by the manager (whom was incredibly helpful and very friendly) to try the house restaurant just a few miles away. When we got there the atmosphere was pretty small, smelled absolutely delicious and appeared very popular. I got the asada tacos, and my fiancé got the pierna. SUPER authentic and probably the best tacos I've had in a long time! They have a few salsas on the table to use and they were surprisingly really spicy. Definitely recommend this place to anyone to anyone! It was big surprise and I'm so glad we stayed dedicated into finding these tacos. Amazing! read more

I'm sorry to have to write this very poor review but I feel that my wallet deserves some kind of justice. I went here today with my boyfriend and a friend. First thing that I found annoying what that they weren't offering any kind of auga fresca or their Jarritos they only had Coke, Fanta and beer?? We ordered burrones with is a burrito. The problem was that it was like 70% rice and the other bite was all the other ingredients. Listen I go out of my way to enjoy the taste of my sweet Mexican food but the experience that I had today was far from being anything that I had anticipated. We wanted to see what tacos are like in Paris, this place was pretty good. The tacos were fairly authentic, but the salsa was so so. I missed not having Chile Colorado, or Chile Verde.
