The service was terrible from the moment we walked in until we left. The waitress was very rude at seating and it continued throughout our visit. She got our order wrong. Was rude when I questioned when my food came out. And then walked by and forcefully set the corrected order on the table. The cheese enchiladas could have been made by a 7 yo. A tortilla with a small amount of melted cheese and queso poured over it. The beef taco had absolutely no flavor. I was excited to try Gumbos and Cajun food but after trying the other restaurant in town I must say Mexican food and particularly EL PATIO is really trying to satisfy its customers. We eat here two or more times a month. Usually it's uneventful. Tonight, a Wednesday night thirty min from closing and we're seated by this group of five ladies and one child. They were so loud and obnoxious. After about ten minutes of the nonstop loud carrying on, one of the ladies made eye contact with me. I politely asked her to tone it done so that everyone in the restaurant could enjoy their meal. She got up came over to where we were sitting and proceeded to get in my face. She was definitely in my personal space. She was yelling and carrying on acting all ghetto. Acting like she was going hit me. Unbeknownst to me she made several comments about my bad eye. I never paid her any attention. Her group stumbled out of the restaurant to be met by Many, Police Officers. Looking at their vacated table one could see each seat had at least two large margaritas. In my opinion they or at least the frumpy one was drunk and disorderly. Eventually officer Hay came inside to speak to us. He was very nice. What upset me most was the woman in charge at El Patio didn't seem to care. Her response to me was, " well, they have been here a long time." I said I had a nightclub for 20 years. It's your responsibility to keep your guests from getting over intoxicated and under control. She didn't say anything. Didn't apologize. Obviously selling alcohol to obviously intoxicated out of control ghetto ladies is more important than her regular clientele. I informed her I would not be back. Nor will I be intermediated by anyone male, female, whatever. I simply will not. It's about respect. Respect for oneself and respect for others. Even when you don't who they are, they deserve respect. Being rude, loud and obnoxious , and then trying to intimidate someone is so unattractive. Save it for your reality show. read more

Great food but horrible customer service. My mother and I came in at 2:30 for a snack. I ordered one order of beef lunch fajitas to share. The server brought out one sizzling order of fajitas and two "setup" plates. We assumed she was thoughtful enough to split the setup. After we began eating she brought out a second order of fajitas. We sent them back. My mom who (used to) eat here regularly had already predicted there would be some screw up as this waitress is notorious for it. When the bill came they charged $11.99 for the fajitas (fair price for good food) but then an additional $6.99 for a setup. I informed the cashier that we did not order an extra setup, but she ignored my plea. I talked to the owner by telephone and he said that because we ate the food that was left on our table we would need to pay for it. This is one of the worst customer service situations I've encountered. The food here is good, but It is not worth the negative experience. read more

As much as I hate not having much to say positive about a place, sometimes it's just what it is. I'm trying to come up with something positive so let's see how this goes....Cons- 1) the foyer smelled strongly of what I thought was moth balls or cat pee however I still walked in . 2) The place had scraps of food all on the floor again maybe a party had just left and they were busy and hadn't gotten to it yet....hour later the food was never swept nor even attempted to be cleaned. 3) If you speak fluent Spanish you will be able to order, if you don't you can order what you wish but they will bring you what they wish - like completely not even close. 4) Frozen margaritas taste just like wet cigarette ashes (not even kidding! Oddest thing ever) 5) Food is very bland and I am not one that likes any thing salty so for something to be bland to me is pretty bad. Pros- We got to leave. First time here and definitely don't order the nachos! They were just a pile of chips with runny queso cheese poured over the top. I asked for jalapeño peppers and that made them taste better. Food is good enough. Service is nonexistant and shooting. Waitress brought two meals of her choosing, not what we ordered. On complaining to the manager he made it our fault, not hers. I paid but stiffed the wait staff. An unused table and chairs block the handicap entrance, leaving no room for a walker or even a cane to pass through the door. We were visiting relatives in the area and we didn't want to cook. And, it was Sunday night so there weren't a lot of options. After calling around, we found that El Patio was really the only place open. Luckily, for us, we visited and were quite happy with the restaurant. We, of course, started with the chips, salsa and queso. All of them were good. We were especially pleased with the salsa. Everyone was also happy with their meals, the shrimp tacos and the guacamole were certainly the highlights. They also have some great drink specials and the margaritas were a crowd pleaser. If you happen to be in the area, I would certainly recommend visiting El Patio. It offers quality Mexican food at an exceptionally reasonable price. read more

Our second visit to this North LA chain , first one we visited was in Winnfield. The service is good, quick and the food is delicious. Also great margaritas!
