After landing, we were ready to eat and found this place near where we were staying. Our taxi…read moredriver also recommended this place, so I was excited to try it, especially since it's located right along the beach. We were celebrating our 3 year wedding anniversary on this trip, so we went all out. We ordered aguachile negro, tuna carpaccio, pulpo, vuelve a la vida, suerito, huachinango, and a few cocktails. Salad, potato wedges, and tortillas also came with our meal. Everything was nicely presented and tasted great! All of the dishes were so flavorful. We ended up ordering more of our favorites for our first dinner stop. There was also a young lady playing some tunes, so it made the ambience a little more romantic. She doesn't work for the restaurant, so we just gave her a tip before she left. The only complaint I have is that mosquitos and flies were buzzing around once the sun was starting to set. Other than that, I had a wonderful time here.

They have some awesome art inside along with their van out front. The area next to the ocean has bean bags that you can sit on and relax. The service staff is incredibly friendly, helpful, and quick to help. Food/drinks: the food was delicious! I absolutely love Oaxaca!... we ordered the shrimp which was out of this world good and the red snapper plate which was also absolutely delicious. The drinks were also great along with their wine I would definitely recommend this place if you are in this area, want a wonderful place to eat and be right next to the ocean.

We had asked several…read moredifferent people their favorite restaurant for seafood and they all gave Magaly as their definitive recommendation. One of the best fried fish I have ever had. It is perhaps 3 blocks away from a really nice strip of markets as well, where one can walk their lunch off.. But you enter this non descript storefront and dont think much of the place.. Eventually, you are taken through to the back seating area which is much more spacious and comfortable.. You can also get a clear view of their tiny kitchen and the few cooks working there. Tables filled with locals eating beautiful plates of food. Once we noticed all of this, we were no doubt excited.. We asked to order a whole fish and the woman left our table and returned with two beautiful fish.. One was a Porgy looking guy and other a red snapper.. Both were clear eyed and fresh.. We asked for the Porgy looking guy.. This is a very good sign as I we have been served frozen fish at other places nearby. But, if the place has a lot of local traffic, there is no time to freeze fish. We asked for the fish to be fried and covered in garlic.. Or Ajo... The fish was amazing.. It was fried perfectly, it was pre-marinated and sliced with three cuts on each side.. Meat was cooked perfectly, outside crispy, little bits of outside bone were crunchy and edible.. But, the star was how well the fish was seasoned with the garlic rub.. Damn, so good.. We also ordered their Fish Soup.. Another staple in the area but, this was amazing.. The stock was super rich, dark and fishy.. Their was various cuts of fish, shrimp and some shellfish added to this stock.. We could not stop eating this soup.. One could tell the time and care that went into the stock.. The added in seafood was cooked perfectly.. There was even a large tail section of a snapper in it.. We also ordered shrimp diablo which is like a sweet and sour sauce added with a little chipotle.. Served with fries and rice I believe.. While this is a local favorite dish, this was my first time having it.. While the shrimp were fresh and cooked perfecltly and the fries fried perfectly, the actually dish is not my favorite.. But, if you like diabla sauce, this is a great version. .Don't get me wrong we ate every last bite but, it is more personal preference. Lunch with a few beers and mezcals Was less the 25 dollars USD.. Much less actually.. This was among the best meals we had in Mexico... This is a must visit.. Get the fish soup, the fried fish with garlic and then try something else.

Restaurante Puerto Angelito - Octopus tostadas are the bomb here YUM! :))

Puerto Angelito is a little fishing port in Puerto Escondido, AKA, "little Angel" fishing/boat port…read morethat also has a fabulous swimming beach. The Main restaurant "Puerto Angelito" sits at the top of a steep steep cliff, like a YUGE concrete fortress with steps going down the front, right to the edge of the water, on the beach. It's quite magnificent actually. Wild, natural, not a commercialized place, no AC, outdoor toilets etc., One day I was here, I literally walked down the steps & jumped into the water with my snorkeling gear on & right there under the sea water, in reaching distance, giant sea turtles were swimming about! Scared the jaheebazees out of me. Anyhoo, it's a fantastic place. A wild, natural, gorgeous beach & a equally fabulous restaurant. There are other smaller restaurants there but this is the main one on the cliff. The best one. If you walk down from town, it's quite a hike. And quite dangerous, as it's on a cliff overlooking the ocean. There are no guard rails or safety steps on the way, your on your on so be careful getting here on foot or just take a taxi. There is a long long long concrete stairway down the cliff, but it is very straight down stairs. You can also follow the road down if the stairs are too scary for you. An "Open Air" restaurant, come as you are. In your bikini no problemo. I spent the best thanksgiving I ever had in my life here in my bikini. They served us the freshest fish! Ohhhhhhhhhhhh my gosh. BEST THANKSGIVING DINNER EVER. We had a table right at the edge of the ocean. We swam, snorkeled, drank, ate & swam & drank & ate some more, all day long, wet, in our swimsuits. THE. BEST. DAY. EVER. The local fisherman drag their boats up on the beach after a morning of fishing every day. They bring the days fresh catch straight up to the restaurant. (See pics) You can get just about any kind of seafood here, the fresh fish & the octopus are my favorite as well as the shrimp quesadilla's with the local Oaxaca cheese. They also make a fabulous hot sauce with fresh habanero that I love. They also serve beer & wine & mezcal. The owners family make their own mezcal & it's very good. We drank tons of it. Haha. Good times. I spent just about every day here at the beach for 8 months straight & I never had one bad meal. My absolutely favorite dish is their octopus Tostadas. I ate them all over Puerto Escondido also, but they make the best octopus tostadas I have ever had. Puerto Angelito's octopus tostadas are to.die.4! Big chunky Tender octopus with just the right marinade! YUM! Can't wait to get back to have a plate full of them or two, in my bikini of course hahah. FYI: There is a little oyster farm a few miles down the coast, on Fridays, the fishing boats bring fresh oysters from there, here, to Puerto Angelito & shuck them fresh for you. You can get a couple doz for about $12 USD. Very good oysters. There are no "reservations" for tables & umbrellas on the beach. If you want a good table next to the ocean for the day, get there early. It's always nice to get there early & watch the place open, the place comes alive. It fills up quickly with locals & tourist alike, children running around having a blast. Photo ops everywhere. There are also little shops full of beachy stuff to purchase if you forgot your towel, swimsuit, toys etc., Two days are never the same here but it's always epic in every way. One of my favorite places on earth, my final destination. See you soon.

Fine dining at its best in this quaint surf town filled with other good restaurants and beach in abundance. I recommend the very tasty ceviche in "tigers milk" (not sure what the sauce actually is b it wow it's so good). And the beef heart if you're into it. I am. So good. On potato medallions. Crab cake was a bit like Shuba if you like Russian food. Apps are tasty and mains and plentiful, but and bold flavors. Will return if time allows! The servers were very attentive which is not typically this culture so should not be expected.

A lot of the reviews here mention long wait and I would have to agree. There is usually a bit of a wait. I came in with a party of 8 so we were told the wait would roughly be 35 minutes, but it came to only 20 minutes. We were seated and the decorations and inside were very fun. The vibes were great and the people were having a great time while the staff helped further lighten up the environment. I asked for recommendations and was told that all the house ceviches were delicious. I went with the Peruvian Ceviche which had tiger milk in it. It was my first time trying Peruvian ceviche and was not disappointed. The flavors were very well balanced and loved all the different textures in the plate. I also ordered a Michelada, which was quite tasty!
