I went to Puerto Rico to see family. We went to this place two days in a row. I went on November 12th night one with my sister, her husband and my best friend. The first night, the food was excellent, service was fast and their sangria was to die for. I think it was excellent. We ordered a platter that had tostones, alcapurria balls, corn fritters, pork, and fried chicken pieces. I haven't had such great chicken since I was stationed in Japan. This chicken was number two after Japan. Delicious. Night two. Sunday. The area around it is called La Guancha. This little kiosk is located there. So my friend and I decided we would go again because we really enjoyed the food the night before. We were starving. It was popping there so we figured we would get a bite to eat and then enjoy everything going on. Nope. The food took AN HOUR! We sat there for 25 minutes before we even got waited on. Normally I would leave but my bestie and I had our hearts set on that chicken. Plus she wanted a piña colada. The food was good. However by the time we finished eating since it took forever to get the food, everything was over in La Guancha. No dancing, no music nothing. So because of the super slow service we received on night two that is why they only got 3 stars from me. It's such a shame because the food was truly great. read more

Service and Rest presentation is nice. But the food presentation and taste is not good. I ordered a plain Monfongo and the Mamposteao rice without any bacon. I didn't want it with any meat, rice came with morcilla(that I don't eat!) and it was dry. Mofongo was cold. They serve it in a unattractive presentation that is complicated to eat. They need to improve quality of the food and presentation. I do not recommend this place. read more

Stumbled across this restaurant while walking around the Ponce / La Guachua boardwalk. It's one of many restaurants along the beach and we decided to eat dinner there because there were a lot of other diners, which must be a good sign. We shared a pina colada (came out with whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles on top) and a seafood mofongo (mashed plantain dish) with a side of arroz (rice and beans). This place is supposedly famous for serving mofongo in pillons, which are the Mortar vessels the plantains are ground in. Very fun meal to eat. Service was good when we were there. Minus a star because they have a loud music battle with Tango restaurant next door. read more

Let's see. This food place is just ok. I ordered the mix seafood and it wasn't a big deal. It needed more vinegar and it wasn't fresh. My friend ordered the churrasco and it was delicious, so far a high 5 on the churrasco. Be prepared to share your space with flies and bees which is common because of open space and seating. The server was great and pleasant. Oh wait the sorullitos were not good either. They were too crispy and I believe they are from a box and not homemade. read more

So me and my family are visiting Puerto Rico and decided to give this place a try , since 2 people recommended. We get there and the waitress doesn't even know what's on the menu, we ask her questions and she acts like we are from another planet .... Anyways we order and we are sitting outside, music blasting but ok .... we enjoy it , weather is perfect... 1 hr later no food .... We ask the waitress if it's gonna take much longer and she says another 40 mins.... So if you are willing to wait 2 hrs for a chicken fajita and a mofongo this is the place for you .... we paid for our drinks and came to the restaurant next door .... wish us luck lol . read more

We were a party of 21 and service was very slow, which I am willing to overlook. Nearly 2 hours to get everyone served. However, they rushed one of the plates and the grilled chicken came out partially uncooked. Had to send it back and by the time it returned all of us had eaten. As far as taste, order the fried chicken and you won't be disappointed. read more

The kitchen service is so slow - we waited over two hours for a table of 4. We were lured in by a lot of people outside, all probably waiting hours for their food, too - don't be fooled. Three of us got our food and 45 minutes we were still waiting for their signature dish for our forth person. This place was on the coast near the some large ships. We went during lunch and during the week there was maybe four or five people there. Good atmosphere little difficult to get to the food was fantastic and the service was good I would recommend it read more

Drinks wise we Started off with a Mamada Shot, and then had a Parcha Mojito(Passion Fruit-only $5.00!!!!). For appetizers we had the Pizza Empanadas, & queso Fritos. For dinner the Steak & Shrimp Mofongo (which is SO good)!! You should come here for sure!! read more

On vacation with family and this restaurant gets a negative 2 thumbs down from us. Ordered 3 appetizers that came out separate. One of the three wasn't even fully cooked. Waited 75 minutes and our entrees hadn't come out, so we left. Talked to the manager and he only made up excuses. Such a disappointment!!!! read more

Literally the worst service I've ever had. I don't want to go into much detail and embarrass the staff because I feel bad leaving a bad review ( I usually don't do this) but like it was just awful, awful service. If it's the one on one of the kiosks in La Guancha...nope. the mofongo filled with octopus was super oily and flavorless.

It's located in la guancha. Nice breeze after sunset. However if your ordering mofongo be prepared to wait at least 35 minutes. We've had better. However needs more flavor. read more

My family and I visited El Pilon and were very disappointed upon receiving our appetizers. We ordered the traditional corn sticks and when served they were cold and gummy. These fritters should be cooked upon request. We asked waitress to replace with freshly fried corn sticks and she said she needed verify. Upon her return, she advised that they had no more. This was difficult to believe and we decided to leave. It's a shame that they decided not to give us fresh food as they lost a bill for a party of five, but if their appetizers were not fresh, we did not want to risk our meal. Also, we ordered mango frappes that somehow tasted like apple. If you are into cold, unfresh food...knock yourself out at the Pilon! 1.5 stars highly overrated! I am obligated to rate in order to post....please do not consider as a real star. read more

Great place to go and enojoy a nice day or night with a nice breeze. I've had the mofongo con churrasco and mofongo con pulpo and they were both amazing.My only complaints would be the strawberry frappé, it just tasted really artificial and was very small for the price and the service doesn't seem to know much about what they serve.But besides that, this place is one of my favorite spots to eat mofongo if I'm in the area and the prices are reasonable.After you eat, you can keep enjoying en la Guancha and have some drinks , I usually go to el Patio it is beside the tower. read more
