Food: Their tacos are friggin awesome, this is by far my favorite Mexican place when I am in Mexicali. It's a bit "touristy" but... it is because it is good! They serve the tacos with a full tray of guacamole salsa, lemons, different salsa types... the presentation is just incredible. And the chicken, asada, everything I have ever tried have been delicious. Atmosphere: It's rustic inside, you can tell they started small and have outgrown their current building. Biggest downside, honestly, are the seats. Pure wooden seats and they start to hurt after a while. It's not a complaint, just a matter of fact more than anything. Some Padded seats might be nice... Price: You can't beat the price... $5 can still get you an awesome meal. Real Coke, bomb tacos, full salsa tray... epic. I'd eat here all day every day if they were open late. Service: This is weird - they take your order with iPads, but they only accept cash. ??? That's a bit odd especially when we have a huge group come in. It's just one of those things that you HAVE to remember before you come... BRING CASH! Overall: This is an awesome place all around, one of our favorites for cheap and delicious tacos. We will keep coming here as long as they keep up the good work!
We all know the taco competition in Mexicali is crazy, there's so many good places to chose from. And even though it was not an easy choice i'm sure of this one: El Pirul is my top 1 taquería. I've been coming to this place since i was a lil kid and over the years i've tried almost everything in the menu and i've never been dissapointed. Food tastes good, proportions are big, they give you so many options of salsa and toppings and their service is quick! You can tell they are really organized, cuz i've stopped by at 12pm, 3pm, 6pm, 9pm, hell even 2am and even when it's super packed i still get my food on time, so i recommend this place 100%, my fave are the carne asada tacos! Plus next door there's that hot dog spot so if your group wants variety its a great location to have em both! Lol
I've heard these are the best tacos in Mexicali. The restaurant is a little out of the area I usually frequent in Mexicali but it was worth the extra minutes it took to find it. Parking wasn't great as they do not have their own lot. It's basically on-street parking. It was lunch time though so maybe it's not usually hard to find a spot close by. They have an indoor type area and also tables outside of that which have shade but it's open to the street. Both areas have their own menus. We stay in the outside area. The tacos were very good. The meat was not fatty and they have large portions of it in each taco. We tried the carne asada and also a pollo taco. The meat was well seasoned and delicious. They give you a large selection of salsa and guacamole like many taquerias in Mexicali. Everything was fresh and tasted great. Service was also good! The bill came and it was about $9 for 4 tacos, a tostada, a topo chico and a regular water. Cheap! I can see why this place is popular. We'll be back!
Delicious food! I really enjoyed the place. Awesome salsa and veggie tray and delicious carne asada quesadillas, very flavorful. Friendly and kind staff. I liked that they encouraged me to take their picture. I will be back ¡Comida deliciosa! Me gustó mucho el lugar. We went shortly after they had opened so the service was amazing we had all the employees to ourselves. All the ladies were very helpful and attentive to our needs. It's fairly big with a lot of seating. The tacos are so delicious and big this was not our first time here and I say this because the first time around we made the mistake and ordered so many tacos and they're huge. If you normally eat 4 regular sized tacos you'll get full with two. They offer so many toppings which I loved. This place is a must if you're visiting Mexicali. read more
"It's 11:00 A.M. I've got like six drinks in me." ― Anthony Bourdain ¡Viva Mexico! Do you know what the soul needs after nearly a four-hour drive to Mexicali? Carne asada tacos, pizza al pastor, and maybe some Mexican Coca Cola. I'm not the biggest eater but the carne asada taco was so good, I ordered a second one. At $1 a pop and at the size of a frisbee, it was an easy decision. Did I end up eating both? Not really. I'm glad my friend was there to eat the other half of my second carne asada taco. Top it with some nopales, guacamole, cabbage, some beans, and both red and green salsa. As for the pizza al pastor? Bliss. You see them grilling up the al pastor on the spit right outside and the pineapple is such a delight. Don't forget to top it with some onion and cilantro. One slice was plenty for me. This place is by far my most favorite place to eat when I come to Mexicali. Their tacos are very delicious. I always order tacos de cabeza. Also quesadilla con carne or their fully loaded potato. I always come here when I visit. I highly recommend!! read more

Yummy food and love the variety of salsas, my husband ordered a papa with carne and it was pretty good, I stick to tacos and the horchata is bomb it's my hubby's favorite , pirul is a must everytime we come, and was recommended by a friend read more
