To say this restaurant holds itself to be a fish restaurant all the fish we had was overcooked. The steaks the party received were acceptable however the veal had a rancid taste. When we complained after one of our party being sick we received nothing but attitude from the management and said pay what you want knowing that if we did not pay the full bill they would call the police. We will not be frequenting this establishment again

I recently took the Waterbus over from the Bay to Penarth (£4 return) with a couple of friends, and discovered this place. We had a quick drink (Pimms & lemonade, of course) and then headed back. But even that quick visit left a lasting impression. The staff were very welcoming, which was nice because upon immediate impressions, this is quite a classy joint. But everyone is welcome here and there were even a number of families enjoying food and drinks. Also, my friend ELLIE (who didn't want to be named) though that the establishment was called 'Erected' because of a sign in the stonework that said the building was erected in year ....! Oh, how that made us laugh. I will certainly be going back again to sample some of the cuisine here, as I hear only good reports.

The dishes were all interesting and beautifully presented. My only request would be a bit more time between courses. They come quickly. Our server was pleasant and friendly, and she remained so even after the restaurant became busy. She was working hard, but always remained kind and helpful. The restaurant is casual, but also upscale. We are visitors to Cardiff. Heaney's could be a successful restaurant in California Wine County. It has the same rustic chic vibe. My only request would be different "music." The thumping house music felt out of step with the food and became tiresome. Overall, I would recommend Heaney's to anyone who enjoys the adventure of a tasting menu. It was well worth the visit.

The dishes were well seasoned and just the right amount of food. My only complaint is that we discovered this place while on vacation. It may be a long time until we are able to visit again! Please enjoy their food for us! We sat inside but I believe you may have the option to sit on the covered patio. The dishes came out at a good pace. I don't know how to rate the dishes as everything tasted so good. We started with the oysters and ended with dessert and a cheese plate. Everything in between was just delicious. Come check it out for yourself! Enjoy!

Who would've known that such an excellent restaurant was on the top floor of Cardiff and Vale…read moreCollege? My husband and I came here for a meal on a Saturday night, booking in advance and we both really enjoyed ourselves! BACKGROUND: The Classroom is led by a very experienced head chef and they train those studying culinary and hospitality at Cardiff and Vale College to help students get valuable work experience, which I'm happy to support! They also hold occasional cookery classes for the general public that you can book. All in all, the idea behind this restaurant is excellent! ATMOSPHERE: As its on the top floor (floor 5) of the Cardiff and Vale College building, the atmosphere is great. Open kitchen for you to see inside as the chefs prepare along with large glass windows for excellent views. The chairs are comfortable and it really models modern European fine dining! CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great! The waiting staff manager has worked in a Michelin starred restaurant before so he definitely knows his hospitality. We were greeted promptly with our coats taken and never had to flag down anyone for attention. Our meals arrived quickly as well and it was an extremely efficient service! FOOD: The food here at The Classroom is on a seasonal menu, so if you visit you probably won't be having the same stuff as me, but everything I had was delicious! ~ Starter: Smoked Haddock & Shellfish Chowder with Parsley Oil (£6.95) An excellent start to the meal. I love Smoked Haddock and this chowder had excellent flavours and tasted like the sea. There was a generous amount of haddock as well which I was pleased about and the parsley made for a well balanced finish. ~ Main: Glazed Jacobs Ladder, potato terrine, carrot purée, roasted white asparagus and Italian peas, crispy silver skin onions, red wine jus (£19.95) Really good! The beef was cooked perfectly and was extremely tender and fell off the bone. The carrot puree was extremely creamy and delicious and the onions packed a flavourful punch. My only complaint about this dish is I felt it could have done with a tad extra seasoning as the jus was a little bland but there was salt at the table so it was an easy fix. ~ Dessert: Stuffed baked apple, spiced mascarpone mousse (£5.95) The baked apple was stuffed with what I think was minced meat, and baked with a caramelised outside. Very delicious and the spices they used were fantastic! I especially loved the mascarpone mousse as I'm a huge fan of mascarpone. --- Overall, I would definitely recommend The Classroom to anyone. The prices aren't completely out of this world for a special occasion and my husband and I both loved what we had. I will definitely be back in the Summer to see what their Summer menu would bring!

The food is excellent, I highly recommend the lamb dish, but everything we had was really good. Interesting flavors and great textures, we got to enjoy new takes on classic meals. The service was also top notch, and their cocktails were a lot of fun, including the non-alcoholic drinks for those of us who drive and/or don't want to drink. Really great place!

Despite having no reservation on a busy Sunday evening (Monday was a public holiday), we were seated without having to wait, and given the wine and food menus. The restaurant and bar have a proper "Spanish" feel, with wood panelling, wooden barrels and other wine related décor, without feeling cheesy or over the top. The food was good, although not outstanding, but perfectly acceptable, and the portions of tapas a good size for sharing. The wine we picked (£18) was one of the cheaper items on the list, but was very good. Service wasn't quick, but we weren't left waiting for too long for anything. It was also good to see all the staff were Spanish! By the time we left, all the tables in the restaurant area were full, and the previously quiet bar was full of people drinking and possibly waiting for tables, so it must be quite popular.

You can try LOTS of dishes without too much commitment or judgement for having seven empty plates sitting in front of you. La Cha Cha is one of the newer Tapas and Wine Bars to open in Cardiff Bay. Once inside the décor makes you feel as though you've stepped into a wine cellar and with the help of a Spanish guitar playing in the background you almost instantly forget that your umbrella turned inside-out a few seconds before entering. My Menu Highlights: Calamari served with Aioli: £6.95 Serrano Ham, Manchego Cheese with Mixed Bread and Oils: £11.95 Chorizo Rio Jana: £6.95 ...they also have five different drink menus including Sparkling & Champagne, Rose and House Wine. I'll admit that a trip to La Cha Cha can be slightly expensive yet if you visit during the day you can get three Tapas dishes and a glass of Sangria for just £10.95! PS - It's far too dark in here to take pictures. Even a filter couldn't save me! Visit their website and take a virtual tour of their restaurant and menu.
