No frills Mexican spot that my uncle loves. We eat here almost time I visit West Virginia. The servers are always super attentive and the food is always solid. Today I got the mango margarita which was a bit sweet for my taste, but good. I got the chimichanga which was yummy!!! Today was taco Tuesday so beef and chicken tacos were $1.99. Tucked into a little nondescript discount shopping mall is a delightful dining experience. El Rincon inside is a beautiful little Mexican restaurant. The decor is bright and beautiful and well lit. As a total aside I was startled to be serve ice water is an actual glass not a plastic cup. Besides the decor the service is excellent. I was pleased to find a cheese chili Relleno on menu. Prices seemed to be at pre pandemic levels which was very nice. Do yourself a favor and try El Rincon. read more

This place is a hidden gem of a Mexican restaurant. I used to live in the area and frequently ate here for both dine in and takeout. The food was always consistent, delicious, and generally very prompt service. On rare occasion there might be a delay during very busy hours but otherwise it's nothing to complain about. I stopped by driving through town on I-79 and was pleased to find that nothing had changed since I last ate here about 5 years ago. Their menu is quite large, and there certainly are some things that are not a 5 star dish, but in general you can expect a great meal. Our go-to entrees are the chicken burritos especiales: grilled chicken with grilled onions and peppers covered in cheese sauce with pica de gallo and rice. Mexico Special: this dish has a very good shredded chicken in the burritos that is very flavorful, and very different than most of the other chicken dishes with grilled chicken. Overall, it's a hideaway Mexican restaurant in the corner of a small plaza with delicious food, huge portions, at extremely reasonable price. Used to be my favorite place to eat, ever! But this was the last straw! I'm simply not wasting my money anymore. Ordered take out and no instructions were followed, and what we had was just gross. Ordered a dinner portion of plain rice, so obviously none of the chunks of tomatoes, the heap of sour cream, and refried beans. I received a lunch portion with everything on it, there was more sour cream/tomatoes than actual rice. Think: 1/4th of the container had rice, it didn't even take up half of the container! The tortilla wraps were so hard I couldn't even chew parts of them, had to unroll them and rip off part of the wrap to eat it. Then I went to eat the chips (because for the first time ever, there wasn't enough fajita to fill me up) the cheese was frothy and the salsa was literally water with tomatoes in it, no flavoring whatsoever. Absolutely disgusting. There are bound to be inconsistencies with every restaurant. However, their inconsistency has become ridiculous, the food is now completely different each time you dine there. I would turn down requests to eat at other Mexican restaurants by family because I always favored El Rincon. Now I want to gag at the thought of returning here. Not to mention the old woman who is a server, she is always exceptionally rude. Not even tip worthy. If she serves you, you're wasting your time there. I advise highly AGAINST eating here as nothing is ever the same and simple requests can't be followed. I miss the old El Rincon, something has changed over the past year where it simply seems they don't care in the slightest about customer satisfaction. Two of us decided to get a meal from a place not a chain restaurant while passing through Bridgeport, WV. We decided on this place as it was not too far from our hotel. Looking at the reviews, we thought we would be getting a halfway decent Mexican meal. We found the restaurant and were immediately greeted. As we were only ordering takeaway, we didn't take a seat. One of us ordered #30 and the other ordered 'Special El Rincon'. No drinks or sides. We were the only customers there. (#30 is a chile relleno, chicken enchilada, and a beef burrito, with refried beans and rice; 'Special El Rincon' is a chicken burrito and a beef tip burrito, with refried beans and rice) The person who took the order was very pleasant and told us it was going to be only a couple minutes. In these two minutes, we both got a chance to visit the restrooms/washrooms (very clean and with HOT water in the sink) and also to see the inside of the colorful, clean dining area. Anyway, we quickly received our food and were on our way. We made an hour long side trip to get back to the hotel. Once there, we opened up our meals, and found that even though we had ordered different things, we both received the same things-- shredded chicken wrapped in a flour tortilla and beef (one ground beef; the other chopped beef) wrapped in a flour tortilla, all smothered in the take away container with refried beans and rice. No vegetables, no sour cream-- nothing else, save for a second bag with tortilla chips and salsa. This puzzled us and for a minute we thought we had picked up someone else's order-- but we were the only customers there and the man who took our order handed us this bag. We looked for the itemized receipt, but it wasn't anywhere to be found. Anyway, it was now about 10.15pm at night and we were in for the night. We decided to eat. Both tortillas were soggy, but this was certainly our fault for leaving hot food in a sealed container. I could individually review each and every item, but to sum it up, everything was bland, bland, bland. Not even a hint of salt or pepper to give any flavor. My favorite part of the meal was the salsa given to us for the nachos (a free side? We did not order nachos) but it was unlike any salsa I've ever had. It was like runny tomato soup with a couple tomato seeds here and there. However, it was easily still the worst salsa we've ever had. The employees were friendly and the restaurant was colorful, cheerful and clean. These things are what saved this review from being a 1-star review. Based on this visit, I would not return, nor would I recommend it. Parking is plentiful as it shares a lot in a plaza; credit cards accepted. read more

Great food and fast service in an unassuming location. They could use some more ambiance or decoration work... Not sure if they're going for a bar feel or full on restaurant. A few more tvs would probably help. Anyway, I ordered some burritos. While waiting, I got the usual free platter of chips and salsa that is typically served at Mexico/southern style restaurants. Burritos came out fast and hot. They were delicious. And cheap! With some more beer options and tvs this place could easily become a hangout for some great cheap Mexican food. read more

I thought I wrote a review a few months ago about this restaurant, but I don't see it. It was a five-star review. The food was great and the prices reasonable. It was so good we stopped there again in June 2020. The food, service and prices were still great, HOWEVER there was one problem. We went mid-afternoon. We were seated at a booth and a few booths away from us there were several children that were making a lot of noise to the point of screaming. They finally left when we were about finished. When I went to pay the bill at least one of the kids were behind the register. I figured there wouldn't be any use in telling the cashier. I don't know if they were related to a worker, cashier or owner. Whomever is in charge of the restaurant should be aware this happened and make sure it doesn't happen again. It is a restaurant, NOT a playground. We could not enjoy our meal. read more

This was one of my favorite restaurants as a kid, and growing up in rural West Virginia, this was as ethnic as you could get. Even today, El Rincon is the gold standard for my love of Mexican food. One new development that I have noticed is that since I have become vegetarian, the food at El R is even better. Their vegetarian fare is top notch. I'm a native Texan who eats Mexican food (both interior and Tex-Mex) once or twice a week back home, and this is one of the few Mexican restaurants I've eaten at outside of my home state. So it's possible that I may be grading on a slight curve here, but I was pretty impressed with El Rincon when I went (I believe I visited in September of 2009, and I'll probably be back the next time I'm in West Virginia). My husband is from West Virginia, and while we were visiting, a family friend recommended that we try this restaurant. I was a bit apprehensive because the only other place I'd had Mexican food outside of Texas was in NYC, but I decided I was up for an adventure. We went for lunch. The place wasn't too crowded, and I actually liked the way it was decorated. Chips and salsa were provided before our meal, so that was a good sign. I got a chicken enchilada plate (enchiladas suizas, I think). The only problem was that it didn't come with rice and beans, and when I added them on the meal became a bit pricey (I can get a good chicken enchilada plate with rice and beans in my small town in Texas for $5.99). The enchiladas were good, and the rice and beans were okay. I should have asked whether half orders were available, because the side orders of rice and beans were way too much for one person. No problem, that makes it a good value ... I had leftovers to put in my father-in-law's fridge and eat later. read more

This place is great. My girlfriend and I have been here many times. The service is amazing, the food comes out quickly, the prices are good, the portion sizes are fantastic, and the food is delicious. The most recent experience I had, I got the seafood quesadilla, and she got the chicken nachos. We got there, were seated, and ordered in under 7 minutes. The food took maybe another 5 minutes and it came out steaming. This is an establishment we will be returning to again and again. read more

Seems to become our go to Mexico food restaurant. The salsa and fajitas are better at Kings Pizza but no margarita there so there you go. That said, very friendly staff and never crowded.
